I have an IG army that is over 3k points and although I love them, I am looking to start another one to shake it up.

What I am looking for is an army that fields alot less models and the ones that you do field, are "beefy" and can take a pounding.

I had to paint over 100 models just for my 2 troop choices (2 5 squad platoons) and that got old real quick.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Deathwing maybe? 2-3 Land Raiders, maybe a Dreadnought or two, 20-35 Termies.

You could look into a 'Nidzilla' list, which basically consists of the biggest and baddest bugs.

These armies may not be the most competitive out there, but they have a lot of mojo. It just feels right.

Space Wolves can be compact and elite, and are very competitive right now.

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Wraithguard heavy Eldar.

Loganwing/Deathwing

MEQ in general are rather small size.

From what you're saying with "beefy units that can take a pounding" sounds like you want a bunch of T5 FnP plague marines at above 20 points a model.

GK, small expansive (both model wise and point's wise) but fun to play

I was actually looking at GK as their Termies look absolutely amazing! Hopefully the codex for them come out soon.

I've found the new Blood Angels codex just about opposite to mech Guard when running a lot of jump pack troops.

Another recommendation would be Thunderwolf Cav Space Wolves.

Good luck!

Daemonhunters is great, if you don't mind having a craptastic army. Our terminators are amazing, and we can field a lot of Land Raiders, but that's about it. Expect to lose. A lot.

On the upside, amazing models.

Any kind of Marine bike army would be good. I have yet to see a White Scars army in play, could be cool.

Well, I do nothing but lose (to be fair, I play pretty poorly with them, and exercise horrible army composition based exclusivly on the rule of cool, with army tactics centred around rushing the biggest, baddest, scariest thing on the bored. Of course, I find more victory in slaying the big bads, rather than winning the actual game. I guess that just represents DH, and GK especially, that much better).

They're not impossible to win with, but you'll definetly have a harder time than other armies. You'll also have to use a fairly archetypical setup that makes Necrons look varied.

Direct opposite of IG would be...

Khorne / Nurgle Chaos Daemons?

Way fewer models, no shooting to speak of. Just angry red and green dudes (Christmas subtheme!) warping in and getting up close and personal.

What's not to like?

Terrible rules-writing no doubt, but given that you basically can't play it RAW in any kind of sensible way lets you know that it can't be right.
