Bolt Action will be producing some 28mm multi-part Germans In plastic.
Scrolling down the page I am impressed at the weapons sprue. Plenty of options for a variety of theatres and times in the war.

I'm hoping that since the image is of a 3up that they just loosely attached the arms to the body.

I love Bolt Action metal minis, even if they're a bit pricey. This plastic one doesn't look to disappoint. Even if those arms aren't too well joined to the body, they said there will be a lot of different arms available. It's a little odd to have the guns in what looks like truescale and the models in a semi-"heroic" scale, but that first model is looking mighty good.

Finally, someone has done it - I could never understand why this hasn't been done before. This prototype looks pretty good, actually. The detail is quite crisp, and the proportions are heroic without being overdone - the face looks very much like the original GW plastic Guard. I think the arms will fit better than that when he's glued together properly. It looks as though his gear is all in one piece. All that's really missing is the insignia around the collars and shoulders.
I put aside several 1:48 scale Tamiya AFV's put aside with vague plans of using them for wargaming. I didn't want to use metal minis, and the Tamiya 1:48 scale minis are too fragile for gaming. It's not a perfect match with these models, but it'll do!

Umm. The German army wasn't Nazis. The Nazis controlled them and some were members of the National Socialists, but they aren't Nazis anymore than US forces in Iraq are Democrats or used to be Republicans.

It could use some nuancing, but any time the german = nazi thing pops up, someone should say something. It's just not good history to equate the two.
The figures look good. I think the gap in the one's shoulder is an assembly issue. Plastic 28mm WW2 miniatures *might* get me back into WW2 gaming.

Any way of getting a comparison shot with other germans from some other companies?
I would really like to start getting into some WW2 wargaming.
Anyone have a recommend for some good rules sets? I want to get some paratroopers and some of these guys if they have the right scale.
In comparison, what size is "Right" in the grand scheme of heroic, or standard 28-32mm?

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

Why do stupid people refer the WW2 German troops as Nazis?? Must you use that word?? the SS were a separate force from the German army. These miniatures are troops of the German army, not the SS. Why is it that every WW2 German thing needs to be called Nazi?? shut up with that.

Let's not let this thread degenerate into an argument - particularly as arguments over this issue rarely involve much actual historical knowledge of the extent to which the German armed forces were or were not Nazified. I think Kyoto was just being loose when he referred to these models as 'Nazis' - he does know his history, and it was common during WWII for Americans to refer to all German soldiers as 'Nazis'.

These are actually really solid and I must admit nice with the weapons sprue as you can go early war or late war with it. I state this since the Sturmgeweher(probably misspelled) or burp gun if you will(the banna clip) didn't come out till later in the war. Great stuff and I dare say I love warlords plastics over any other company since they fit well together and with little effort. The detail is far superior to many other companys out there. Cheers Fat bloke on knocking this one otu of the park.
side not I agree lets not degrade this thread with political ideology. If you don't know much on history please don't actually comment on something as this is a gaming forum not a political one.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

The Wehrmacht were the army of Nazi Germany, just as the PLA are the army of COmmunist China. Nope not all of them were party members but the army as a whole answered to the Nazi party, hence Nazis.

Those look nice. I hope they put out more support weapons and the like to enhance the line. Vehicles would be awesome, too. There are far to few 28mm WW2 vehicles out there.
Also, I never thought I would see the day when someone tried to defend the Wehrmacht from being defamed. People are awesome.
Perhaps we can go the Gore Vidal route and call them Crypto-Nazis? Or would that offend William F. Buckley, Jr.?

Why do people want to separate the German army from the policies they carried out?
The same reason we don't want to call US service men and women "Bush-ites"? They carried out Bush's policies after all, so they must be Bush-ites, right?
The Wehrmacht were the army of Nazi Germany, just as the PLA are the army of COmmunist China. Nope not all of them were party members but the army as a whole answered to the Nazi party, hence Nazis.
And the grunt on the ground was allowed to say "No, I'll decide which battles I'll participate in and which I won't." Oh no wait, even the US Army shot deserters in WW2. Being in the Wehrmacht you had more freedom that in the US Army right?
The reason any credible historian separates the Wermacht from the political party that was currently in power is that they were separate organizations and the grunt on the ground had no power over the decisions made at higher levels. It's intentional ignorance to conflate German army infantrymen with Nazis.

The price is decent. Not a good as some of other Warlord box sets, which have a great price per figure, but still very good.
Crusader Miniatures and Artizan Designs offer metals for every so slightly more per model. (Crusader's box of 24 metal Germans is the same price as the Bolt Action box of 25 plastic).
Crusader and Artizan are both slightly larger than Bolt Action as well.
That said, Maelstrom shipping these out at 10% off + free shipping could make the difference for me as to which I end up going with. And I love working with plastics compared to metals.
