Having seen a recent thread about naval combat I decided to post some rules me and friends made
to represent battles in space. They should be taken in the spirit of the game rather than hardcore competetiveness.

Its about a mighty 8 pages but if anyone gets through it and decides to try it any comments/critique would be appreciated.

Changed to PDF as no one could open the word one. Not as neatly laid out as in word (didn't convert as I thought it would)
but here it is.

Hope you enjoy.

Any chance you can upload it as a .doc or .pdf file? Some of us are still resisting vista.

What about BFG? Isnt it the same thing?

Quoted from "The Defenestrator":
"Yes, I don't buy into the goody goody image the Tau PR machine has churned out . They're all dirty cold-blooded space-communists if you ask me! Besides, their shiny, selfless "we love everyone for the Greater Good" vibe is so unfitting for the "lulz we're all badass jerks" future of 40k. GW needs to play up their cold, calculating, "join us or die, and probably still die anyway" Borg-y style. That's just me of course."

Altanis wrote Vindicare. Hes like Santa he watches when your sleeping. He knows when your awake. I doesn't matter if youve been bad or good because the inquisition put a hit out on you and a shield breaker round is gonna go through your head when your eating your weaties.

BFG is a game between space ships, this is boarding actions.

It seems quite good, there are one or two things I may change if I was playing it but as you said, it isn't meant for competative play and as such I take that as an invitaion to change the rules slightly. If I get the chance I'll try it out.

I liked the idea for this a lot after reading the PDF. Think I might try to tweak the rules a bit for myself!

Thanks for posting it!

I like the idea! My only qualm is from a fluff standpoint some units would do better in space than others with respect to pressure tests. Like marines in sealed suits would probably be fine, orks less so...

But I definitely want to try it out!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking as well, with marines and such having fluff to support them!

I know what you mean about the marines, It's not very fluff true but I wanted to try and make the rules similar accross all races for simplicity/fairness.
however it could reflect being hit by debris from the impact or being thrown from the craft by the force of collision.

One thing I realise I neglected was teleporting/deepstriking units (terminators etc) I was thinking these could work as normal but take a normal dangerous terrain test upon landing to represent the fact they are landing in an enemy ship.

Also what about jetpacks? Troops like assault marines and Crisis battlesuits seem pretty spaceproof? Maybe they could act as normal and travel through space? ship cannons inflict D3/D6 kills on squad if hit?

Thanks for the input any other suggestions would be most welcome. e.g race specific rules, asteroids, space station in the middle(may need larger board)?
