Hi I'm Harrison, 13 years old.

This is where I am going to post my painting and modelling efforts.

Also, you can see some of the stuff I've done in the past under tallmantim's account (my Dad!).

At the moment I am doing guard - I've just about finished a Leman Russ and a Valkarie that I will post later but at the moment I am doing commisar Yarrik.

Here is my progress so far on Yarrik:

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Not bad. Do you have any of the washes? They can be a really easy way to add a bit of extra depth to your painting.

But anyway, good stuff - certainly better than I was at 13

Very nice, I particulary like the base, prehaps you could give the power claw a few more stronger highlights of a lighter red/orange

I think he's looking good. The skin and fabric have some nice depth and the metallics came out well.

If you have a small enough brush, I would try to pick out some of the wires to the power claw. Adding some red, yellow or blue wires would give that huge cable some more detail.

Not bad! If you're looking for advice, then there are a few things I would try.

I'd point you in the direction of my Hazard Stripes Tutorial. Whilst your attempt is in no way shabby, you'll find that the Method I use is much easier, and has much cleaner, crisper results!

The Tank Commander is neat, especially the Camouflage, but if you want to tie in the colours - since they seem a little bright at the moment - I'd Wash in either Gryphonne Sepia or Devlan Mud. This will shade it, whilst keeping the Camouflage, and will generally tie it together nicely.

Incidentally, I'm also 13. Your Painting trumps mine.

Sir, you put me to shame . I stopped painting at the age of 13 and took a 10 year hiatus. If you keep this up; by the time you are a codger like me you will be an excellent painter.

One small tip......I'd spend some time with a fine brush and work on highlighting yarricks face as this will then 'pop' when you look at it and instantly add character and complement the good work you've done on the rest of him.

Keep it up

I like the way you painted the sentinal. i think your other tanks would look alot better if painted the same way. But so far at 13 your doing really good work. keep it up.

Hello Harrison - looks awesome! I really like how the weathering ended up.

My only suggestion would be to drill out the barrel of the flamer.

I'm starting up orcs again, but here is the last of my guard - my Baneblade that I'm really happy with.

I will be finishing my orc boyz in the next couple of days and will put them up.

Here's the Baneblade...

The Juve looks good, but I really like the cammo pattern on the Baneblade - excellent work (especially for a 13 year old!).

Can't wait to see some pics of your Orks.

That's some serious improvement since you've began. You should be proud.

The ork skin looks really good although it looks like the front left dude isn't finished.

Otherwise keep it up!

Hi, I’ve nearly finished an ork Nob and I’m quite happy with how it went, so I will paint the others the same.

Cool paint chipping effect. It might be the photo but i think you ought to take the shine down just a bit on the silver metallics. Also i think just a bit more red on the pistol would look nice.

Hi

I finished my Ork Nob - I'm quite happy with how he turned out...

I spent a lot of time on new skin techniques and getting an Orky finish on the metal - unhappy to see the right bicep looks dodgy in the picture here - I messed that up somehow - onto the next Nob though to try improve my skills some more.

I am thinking of entering the Young Bloods competition locally - can anyone suggest a good model I should use to paint?

Hey Harrison - I think he looks ace. Nice contrast on the skin, and the weapons and gear look heaps better dulled down.

I would suggest a different base colour for the boots or other pieces of clothing to split them up a bit - just a different shade of brown or something to show they are a separate material.

In regards to the youngblood comp, I think you would do well - do you like just painting Orks or anything else?

I want to just Orks at the moment, I was thinking maybe of gazkull - can anyone think of any special characters that would look great as special figures?

Does it have to be 40K?

How about a Blood Bowl figure?
