For my new Guard army, I am going to be fielding one (maybe two) Psyker Battle Squads. In wanting them to fit in with the theme for my army (a prison planet being run by the inmates), I am going to be painting and modelling my PSB as if their cloaks are really bed sheets.

Only problem is, I have no idea what colour(s) to use to achieve this. I was thinking a bleached bone followed with a Devlan Mud wash to simulate them having been worn for some time and being dirty/dingy, but I thought that might make them look more soiled than just worn.

Does the Dakka community have any suggestions? I'm really hoping to make this idea work as it would fit in nicely with the rest of the army.

I think doing it just that way, they will look like worn out normal clothing.

I think the devil will be in the detail. Try and do the "typical" bedsheet patterns on there. Something like, close to the ends, doa thin red stripe, and if possible those really thin light blue lines that go on the "typical" bed sheet.

Inside that little light in your refridgerator

Sounds like a jam-hot idea. Got any pics of the rest of the force?

sorry Bunker it was impossible to resist.

TBH to me you sound pretty close to the mark
Maybe lighten the bleached bone with white too taste for the highlights.
Maybe devlan mud would be a bit dark.

IMHO you don't need uniformity for the sheets as some could be older dirtier more washed etc so a bit of experimentation or even practice before hand?
Bright white would be too much. They ain't stayin' at the Grovesner Hotel

Yes but they're the first ever models I've painted so while I'm immensely proud of them and am told they're "really good", I'm certain I'd get laughed off Dakka

Honestly, if I had the painting skill to do it, I would make individualized sheets for each of them. It'd fit in with the story of my army nicely

The sheets we issued to our inmates when I worked at the local sheriff's department were plain white. Come to think of it so were the sheets that we were issued at basic training. I am thinking that if a prison planet population were going to wear cloaks they would be for warmth or protection from the elements so a bed sheet would be thin. Maybe a think wool blanket in a grey, brown, green, blue or even orange.

Orange and grey are out of the question, because the inmates' jumpers and armor are those colours.

I'm more going for the PSB as being pants-on-head insane due to the voices in their heads being ignored for so long rather than being sane psykers.
