a year or so ago, when I was really into 40k I played round a friends house with a group of people and we drank as we played, it was all good
anyway, I smoke weed on a regular basis, and have recently gotten back into warhammer, and it's so much more awesome, but I've never heard of another person that games and smokes, is there anyone else out there?

I have a friend who used to if we played at his apartment.
Then he graduated college, moved to Vegas, and got a career that drug tests, so he doesn't anymore.

I used to smoke about a pack of Benson & Hedges every Sunday down the wargames club. That was in the days when you could still smoke indoors, more or less without asking permission.
I've given up smoking since then.

Had some friends that used to partake recreationally, but they would never smoke while we were playing. I think maybe one time a buddy stepped out for a smoke and might have sneaked in a joint, but I dunno.
Usually if my friends used they used at a party. Maybe gaming took too much concentration, I dunno. Nowadays I think my path has parted from any users unless they are very stealthy about it.
Plenty of drinking going on during games and a friend takes a bazillion smoke breaks, but nothing illicit.

I went to a very liberal, liberal arts college in Minnesota. Minnesota is very cold, which means that the lion's share of school year is spent indoors. Indoor recreation eventually growing boring, I can't even list the number of friends that would blaze while engaged in another activity. In fact, one of our favorite activities was to play Axis & Allies; during which almost everyone would smoke. Excepting me, of course, as I don't smoke for reasons of athletic performance. However, I often drank a great deal.

Half of my old game club were pot heads. On gaming nights, they smoked at half-time (end of turn 3) in the parking lot during WFB games. By the end of game 1, the food had arrived. Then they'd go out again either before game 2 or half way through game 2 again.
They were all really good painters/modellers and excellent sportsmen. They knew their limits (i.e. they didn't pull out the 4 footer with gas mask attachment if there were any minors around) and were some of the best guys you could ever game or smoke with.
Now completely hammered on booze gamers, that's a whole other story.

In our group we don't allow drinking or lighting up during 40k. Drinking just because I've seen what happens when drunk gamer geek decides to try to lean all 250+ pounds on the game board (thankfully it wasn't my army or he'd have been in the ICU at the local hospital with 2500pts worth of minis up his anal cavity) and the latter because we play at a buddies house who has kids.
He used to do that gak but not anymore (CPS frowns on drugs in the same house as children).
So, nope. I save my drinking for the bars/clubs or at home in private.

My warhammer and 40k gaming group do drink during games, but not heavily. I do also play magic though, and the guys i play with do take a lot of drugs.

Polonius wrote:Well, seeing as I literally will die if I ever lose a game of 40k, I find your approach almost heretical. If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live? |

Given I usually game at my school, they tend to frown upon drinking and smoking pot there.
When my buds and I hang and play video games at each others house we might drink, but more often then not just stick with water/soda.
