Can I say I kinda really like that the one guard who is looking over their shoulder is displaying proper trigger discipline? About time!

Deathwatch, Drukhari and Killzone: Deathworld Forest coming next week: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/08/19/next-week-new-kill-teams-and-a-new-killzone/

Deathworld Forest looks it’d be fun to play in - needs Catachans, to be sure.

Yeah, even I was thinking it was entirely possible that these could have been generic 'Chaos Mutants'.

I was hoping to see more of the security guards in the kit - as it would have been a great basis for a proper looking Guard force. What is the deal with the generic-esque Space Marines in the back? I don't see anything special about the blue plastic fellas.

It's the guys from the Space Marine Heroes line, I think.

Also did you really think a Kill Team starter set would contain a ton of models to bulk out an army?

He has a point tho. Unless they have terrible stats, there is no way this is anywhere near Kill Team force. Say, for IG, a kitted out Inquisitor (as closest RT equivalent), a medic, enginseer, assasin, squad of kitted out stormtroopers with tempestus officer, a dog, all in all it starts clocking closer to 500 pts 40K army than a Kill Team. Ditto on Chaos side, 3 ogryns should be a KT all by itself, and the monsters there are even bigger. Never mind the rest of the chaff, or the furnace guy, the big 3 look to cost 150-200 pts all by themselves unless they have a big drawback in the rules.

Really, in model count, it's pretty close to the GSC/SW box set, and that most definitely wasn't just KT expansion...

This is assuming that all the Rogue Trader stuff isn't meant to be fielded in smaller units to begin with.

It's not as big as you seem to be thinking.

Rogue Trader side has 10 models. That's all.
Spoiler:

Mutant side has significantly more:
Spoiler:

4 of the 'fleas', 3 of the flies, 4 of the little guys, 3 of the mid-sized guys, and then 4 of the big guys(who in reality look to be on 40mm bases tops--so aren't as big as thought to be?)
Gives a total of 18 guys for the mutant side--and some of those things might effectively be 'markers' or things that can get brought in via gameplay.

Grand total of 28 models; which is just 8 more than the Kill Team starter set and can theoretically be put down to extra goodies that come on sprues depending on how stuff is organized.

I am thinking that the Flies may be one "unit" that grows during the game - hence different markers?

Or it could even be like the blip mechanic from Space Hulk?

The bgf difference to normal Kill team seems to be characters - I can't believe that the RT is a normal 1 wound model? Then there is the Assassin and the Enginseer.

Really more interested in the 40k stats.

Have we found out for sure they'll work in 40k, or is this speculation?

And how do we know what their wound count is?

They said so in the article. The models in the box will be usable in 40K. No more info about that.

I think the Rogue Trader models are great, on both sides. The weakest by far, for me, is the Ad-Mech guy. His pose, with his gun held in the air at a really awkward angle is a very 80s/90s style two dimensional pose from back when mild making limitations made a lot of minis orientated in that way. Maybe it’s an intentional throwback but it looks a bit clunky. Rest are terrific though.

Someone published the stat line...cuz Primaries Marines and many others in KT have more than one wound.

This is also predicated upon the idea that they're "character" characters, rather than being something like Datasmiths or other things that are basically just buffbots that normally would have been part of a unit.

Are you talking about Deathworld? No, I used methyl ethyl ketone based plastic glue - actually I used the thick Army Painter stuff and also some Plastruct Plastic Weld to assemble mine. Works perfect. Ignore the haters, the terrain is fantastic.

I’m pretty sure he was thinking of the vines set that is a whole other thing and comes in the same size box as the skulls and the other terrain accessory kits.

$60 for the Deathwatch team feels like a stretch considering the widespread opinion on the included terrain, but I guess the actual models are a lot more recent than the Orks or Genestealers.

Good or not, Barbed Venomgorse(the scenery included with the Deathwatch Kill Team) is priced at $60 by itself.

Yep. You're paying for the terrain and getting a free Deathwatch Kill Team along with a bunch of tactics and other bits and bobs.

If you don't think it's a good deal, then don't buy it. Just get the Deathwatch Kill Team on its own, make your own markers, and find the tactics after they drop.

Conversely it's the $50 40k kill team box with free rules and $10 of terrain...

I'm currently eying up the Deathwatch box (as I'm using deathwatch in Kill Team ) as well as the deathwatch forest to use on a frozen wastes board.

I'm planning to use the deathworld forest kit to bulk out the frozen, living ice plants that have overrun an old ryza stc habode.
Also, having frozen plant life makes it more believable in stopping bullets!

I think the bundle had a few more sets of Shardwrack Spines, but otherwise you're right.

I agree, but you think Rowboat is going to send some jobber to deliver colonists. Do you think he talks to anyone with one Wound directly?

Maybe the Away Team is just a bunch of same same dudes with implied specialties.

I once thought that til I bought one set, then I bought a second one. Nothing else like it in existence. For anyone on the fence, the Killzone is totally worth it. It looks to have the same contents as the original Deathworld Forest box which was USD$130. I bought my original sets on sale for about the price of the Killzone sets (USD$80) and I was quite happy with it. The Deathworld terrain almost always gets put out on my table for any sort of outpost related mission

Aaactually, shortly after the Deathworld terrain came out, I was in my local pet store and found some aquarium pieces that looked EXACTLY like this - already assembled and painted and for about 1/3 the price (the only downside was it was some sort of ceramic/plastic mix). Needless to say, I bought a tableful.

I have also made the mistake of purchasing some aquarium terrain for ruined columns and such. I put it on the table, realized it looked pretty bad compared to everything else, and put it back on one of my terrain shelves. It's the same reason I can't mix in MDF with plastic and resin and scratch built terrain. Just a personal preference.
