I'm pretty sure they said they're unwilling to mix female and male bodies on one sprue unless they're wearing the most genderless baggy clothing possible, because they'd just look wrong if you mixed the parts and thus make the avalible builds even more repeatative.

That, plus the fact most of the historical periods they're making minis for didn't have women in combat, means if they do female minis they'd be a separate box, like the female partisans they said are gonna come in the future.

I thought they showed an all -female unit similar to their space guys? The female partisans haven’t been mentioned again so It looked like they had dropped them. I haven’t gotten any of their future/ death fields kits. Will have to see if I can find any of those heads on eBay.

They showed a feminine torso in cloth(?) that could be from the partisans or a Sci fi kit a few weeks ago. I get the feeling they aren’t dropped but are on the backburner.

Or there are some sculpting or production difficulties. Look at the Boxers, Spanish Napoleonics and Aztecs: all announced quite some time ago and only the Boxers have reached the Tooling stage according to the WGA Release Schedule.

Eh, WGA stuff is so cheap I don't know if anyone would bother to resell bits.

Yeah, by bits, no... But there are plenty of single sprues for sale.

Edit: But looking, I doubt I will pay $12 for a single sprue just for these heads... Oh well

Wonder if it's just heavy support or the heavy support + command format we've gotten already

From the WGA Friday e-mail:
Sculptors this week were in future space, fighting on the Eastern frontier, driving off mutineers, and rumbling across the fields of France.

"rumbling across the fields of France"? Could WGA be sculpting their first vehicle kits?

"driving off mutineers" Perhaps British troops for the Indian Mutiny?

While not opposed to Cannon Fodder with support weapons, it does seem out of place, at least for cannon fodder. Still it will give the option for PDF forces who aren't as impressive looking as regular Imperial Guard regiments.

well the male cannon fodder has a single heavy weapon type, why not give the female version a different one making both kits more versatile

It would be very interesting to see Wargames Atlantic move into vehicle kits. I suppose it is only a matter of time considering the success they have experienced so far.

Because then all of the new heavy weapon would be named "Vasquez" and all of the plasma gunners "Drake"

At least this way you can disguise that a bit more

Interesting that it doesn't seem to be from a diffrent kit, while the Plasma gun from the regular Cannon Fodder box was clearly taken from a dead Space Dorf.

They also stated an army builder of napoleonic french old guard. These grognards do fit the Bill better

Also, the brits for the indian mutiny should be finished sculpting long ago. These are probably the Sikhs they mentioned.

So much fine stuff ahead...

Problem with moving into vehicle kits is that its already a very densely populated and crowded competitive marketplace unless they are doing fantasy/scifi/fictional vehicles. There are literally dozens of options out there in plastic for just about every historical vehicle from WW1 through to the modern day in plastic in 1/35, 1/48, 1/56, 1/72, and even smaller scales yet. Theres a market there, but the market needs are already being addressed, and then some.

As WGA operates in 28s, I have to imagine they're looking at 1/56 scale vehicles if anything. While the Italeri/Warlord have a large range, the quality is only okay, so theres room to compete on quality... but Rubicon is absolutely killing it with the high quality and attention to detail on their kits and they already have a very large range which is constantly growing. The only thing WGA can do to compete with them is to try to hit the gaps that Rubicon is lagging in (French, Japanese, Italian, and Hungarian WW2 armor mostly. Rubicons British and Soviet range is also a bit lacking in areas) or step into doing kits for 3rd/4th generation armor since Rubicon has already started making inroads into 2nd generation Korea/Vietnam era armored vehicles.

Vigo. Spain.

I always found than the problem with doing sfici plastic vehicles is that people needs much more infantry and also they are more open to change the humanoid models than the standarized vehicles.

I mean. Using GW as an example, you can do a ton of completely different imperial guard armies with Wargames Atlantic infantry.
But the vehicles? A chimera is a chimera a leman russ is a leman russ. If you change both infantry AND vehicles then it stops being recognisable.

So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

No vehicles, dudes. They are doing french old guard, Grognards - "grumblers".
Pretty sure that was only a pun referring to them, especially as WGA stated not long ago that they don't intend to do vehicles.
If they ever do a vehicle, I assume their first will be an existing kit from the Iron Core range.

It isn't. While Grognard is akin to the word Grouch in French, it is also primarily in reference to referring to one of Napoleon's Old Guard.

And how do you know WGA didn't just go for a pun?

Yes, we did mention old guard as an army builder.

I enjoyed that particular research project.

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

I assume these will be sans great coat, as Victrix already does them. And please give us Shako variations also, so not only old- but many guard can be done. Else this set will be very limited in use.
I got more guard than I will ever need already, but maybe a box or two to convert into other nations guard should be ok. Dutch, italians... Rheinbund...

New Kingdom Egyptian Archers
New Kingdom Egyptian Spearmen

IIRC, during the polling for what player designed kit would be made, there was some interest expressed in ancient Egyptians. Well, they may see the light of day.
