Do I take a Combi-Flamer or a Heavy Flamer?

In my day if we wanted a 4+ save we had to spend the points on a displacer field.

Combi. Why would you ever want to give up a Sternguard Bolter?

behind you!

Id take the heavy flamer. Stuff gets killed so fast in this game often the 1st shot is the only one that counts.

Not another Vulkan enthusiast...

Take a third combi melta. 2 shots doesnt always cut it. 4 is overkill. 3 is perfect. And go with the heavy flamer. Losing 2 special ammo shots isnt too bad when you consider when you consider how good the HF is.

And put it in a rhino and trade 5 points for a mobile heavy flamer or double melta!

If they are in a razorback, they'll only ever shoot once if at all. In that case, the heavy flamer is better.
