My local GW is running a 3 round 1k tournament for the midnight release of IoB. I'm going to find out how the missions are chosen, but I'm currently thinking of this list:

Thoughts? Am I going too crazy on the Warriors? Should I drop that Halberd unit for more fast(er) support units like a couple of chariots, or some Ogres, or something? Maybe a unit of 5 Marauders with flails to get Warmachines? Maybe quit loving the Lore of Shadow so much to use up 1/4 of my army points to get it?

Just my opinion, but is a Lord-level caster in a 1K tournament not very friendly and happy to play against?
I know 8th Ed. is different in that respect, being able to bring Lords to the party in smaller games, but I would suggest bringing him down to a Hero-level and just bringing another unit from the points saved.

I think it looks better, but the Ogres seem like dead weight. Thoughts on them or what to replace them with? Also no sure about the Horsemen. It seems like they might hunt Warmachines pretty well, but they look incredibly fragile.

I like the Ogres - 9 S6 attacks with T4 and 4+ armor for defense - they seem to be a good complement to the Warriors as a secondary combat unit. And the unit is half the price of a WoC unit too.
1000 points might play a bit differently: but horsemen, chariots and Knights are all supporting units at 2K. Your current list has almost 50% of its points in support. Cut the point expenditure in half - use the points for a small block of warriors or a really big block of Marauders.
Why the spell familiar on the wizard? Fire has all sort of useful spells & the base spell can suck up dice for a super fire ball. What spell can't you live without?

Here my thoughts:
Drop the horsemen. They are used to bait charges, march block, harass with axes etc. And atm you dont even have them MoS. At 1k just isn't many units you need to harass and in 1 turn of shooting from most armies they will be gone.
Keep the knights and drop to 5 but add banner. Consider banner of rage + MoT combo for 3 attacks + 6 ward save on them. 15 S5 attacks almost always going first with 1+ saves and 6+ and fear? Nasty.
Never really ran ogres so dunno, but I would say its better to just make your block 3x6 on the warriors and if you have the point from dropping horsmen + ogres add a shrine. a MoT shrine is pretty ridic hard to kill with its To, ASv, and Ward save. Plus it can produce kills. Great for tying up units with low static rez like calvary.
Drop spell familiar on sorcerer. Magic just isn't that useful at 1k to where you need alot of spells. Lore of Tzeentch, Nurgle, Fire, and Death all have good signature spells and at least 3-4 good spells you won't be sad to roll. By turn 2-3 most of your stuff will be in CC limiting what magic can be cast anyway.
Now this is sorta a tricky suggestion here. I am assuming your planning on putting the foot sorc in your block of warriors? If so the unit champion is a must. However this really only helps against eating a canon ball etc. Imo, your much better off dropping the unit champion and mounting the sorc + MoT + drop shield/spell familiar for bronze armor. Your sorc is now a 2+ ASv with a 4+ improved to 3+ ward save against non magic attacks. Give your sorc much better mobility to cast where he is needed AND you don't have to worry about him getting into a challenge he won't like. You could hover behind knights for Look Out! but honestly just keep out of the path of a canon and no other shooting can touch you save a DEAD ON stonethrower and even then you get a 3+ ward.
Quick Recap:
-MoT Sorc, drop spell fam/enchanted shield, add barded steed
-Drop warriors unit champ, add 6 warriors for total of 18
-Drop mauraders, Drops Ogres
-Add MoT Warshrine
-If you have the points change add the BoR to the knights while keeping them at 6. If not your call to drop to 5 and do it. Having a 6th is nice since you have so few, but the banner adds +1 static rez and 5 attacks. Whatever you decide give them MoT to give the knights some chance against siege weapons.

I'm all for mounting the wizard, but a disc is 4 more points, way more mobile, and since it is a war beast, you will count as cavalry and can hide with the Chaos Knights if need be.
I also think the Marauder units are just going to be easily shot down and the Ogres are expensive and redundant since you're already horrifying in CC.
The Warshrine Idea is excellent, will make for a lot of fun and everyone will respect your selection of such a fluffy choice!

Roar is like 12", so unless your planning to fly behind units its not really worth it. Also the disc makes your save 3+ not 2+, so again I recommend the bronze armor to keep your sorc alive.
The points you save from disc to steed and dropping roar = more chaos warriors or a mark for your Warriors/Knights/Shrine. MoT on your warriors will deter all shooting, nobody will try to shoot them with 3+ Armor / 4+ ward against shooting, and even canon balls become 50/50 and will never kill enough by end game to justify their points.
I like the mark on the knights, but give your in a point crutch just drop roar and add MoT to warriors. If you decide to swap the steed/bronze armor then that might free up just enough for another warrior.
Either way revised looks much better.
