There's also two prepainted heavy walkers up for sale/preorder also.
Description
“JagdLuther” schwer Panzer KampfLaüfer IV-A
The sPz. KpfL. IV-A “JagdLuther 75” is armed with a pair of 7.5 cm FpK 42 L/70. It’s a longer version of the old 7.5 gun, much more deadly and accurate. It’s even more powerful than the first “8.8” used on early Tiger tanks!
With its weapons the “75” can destroy armored targets up to two kilometers away. It’s the bane of all armored vehicles.

Pre-Order now (til end of Sept) to enjoy free shipment. Model kit will ship on 15 Oct.

This item is an official Dust Tactics unit. Its unit card to play in the game is provided in the box.

This item is hand painted by professional artist. (base is not included)
Price?
$65 USD.

Then the second heavy walker:

Description
“Fury of Ivan” KV 152(i)
The “Fury of Ivan” is a German-captured sPz. KpfL III modified by soviet engineers. It now mounts two 152 mm ML-20S guns: the biggest weapons found on the Eastern Front. With these the “Ivan” can destroy any target in its path. As the shells are quite big, the walker can only carry enough for a few shots. They are more than enough.

Pre-Order now (til end of Sept) to enjoy free shipment. Model kit will ship on 15 Oct.

This item is an official Dust Tactics unit. Its unit card to play in the game is provided in the box.

This item is hand painted by professional artist
Price: $65 USD as before.

I really, REALLY like these!

I don't, however, like the price tag.

The pics do look nice, but...

Seems like a reasonable luxury item. $300 is way too steep for me, but it doesn't seem too bad for pre-painted miniatures done by hand if they look anything like those pictures.

As an aside, if that Jagdluther doesn't come with that nice scenic base, does it not come with a base at all? An unbased "pro"-painted mini?

I'd assume it likely comes on the same kind of base that the "Fury of Ivan" has.

Not IF it is painted to the standard shown in the pic though.

All things considered, it is... reasonable?

The unfinished kits are $45, per the website. $45 for a tank sized kit doesn't seem too unreasonable.

Isnt Dust what AT43 (alternate history '43?) was originally going to be?

Looks cool. 1/48 stuff means that I could splice 1/48 kits on it yes?

I'd love some pictures of the tiles.

But we won't get them, as if there's one thing FFG is terrible at (besides meeting shipping deadlines), it's taking photos of the contents of their boxes.

Only people worse than them at this are Wizards of the Coast ("Hey kids! Buy our D&D tiles that we won't preview or show you the contents at all ever so you'll have to rely on places like this to find out what's in the damned package!!!").

$300?!?!?!?!?!?! I was really excited that this was finally going to be released until I saw that price tag. Gonna have to wait and see it in person and play it before I decide to throw down that kind of money. 40K costs me enough as it is.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Just keep in mind that the Deathwatch Collectors' Edition is $200. And remember the premium edition of that LotR boardgame? I'm not saying it isn't it worth it to anyone. Clearly, someone keeps buying these things . . .

DO WANT.

Wow, that's really incredible pre-paint work. Even just the figures are well worth the $300, if you break it down in costs analogous to GW:

$30 each for the walkers ($120)
$35 for 15 infantry per side ($70)
$10 for a special character each ($20)

So $210 before you even bung in the rules, terrain (meh) and the really-good-for-prepaints paintjob. Hell, even if you think GW prices are overinflated (and who doesn't?), it's not a bad deal once you add the paint. If you make over $5 an hour, the paintjobs are much cheaper than your own time and painting materials.

Color me sold. There's only 50 of them, though? Crap, I'd better scrape that extra $300 off fast. Time to spend some more time down at the salt mine.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

I am very willing to pay you to paint and to purchase $300 for all 30 miniatures, 2 special characters and 4 walkers to such a standard. Ok, I'll leave the rule book and game broad out. From my point of view, you have very little business sense.

It's a pretty simple difference of perspective. Someone mentioned the rate of $5/hour for painting--which I would say is pretty reasonable or even a good deal if the quality in those pics is better than what the prospective buyer is able to do (I would want to see more than the walkers). At that rate, you'd be paying for about an hour and three quarters on each miniature. Looking at the walkers, this might be worthwhile or not depending on your own skill level and what you want to get out of the hobby. The walkers look like they've been airbrushed, washed then weathered/detailed but it's nothing that a mediocre hobbyist couldn't do in about 2 hours (less the time for set up, drying and clean up). If that's the fun part for you, paying someone else to do what you could and want to do is absolutely ridiculous. Otherwise, it's not really too outrageous a price.

*Keep in mind that the above calculation assumes a cost of $300 for painting. The actual cost is $200 (given that the standard version of the game is already $100).

If memory serves, NAVARRO is a consummate hobbyist. No doubt paying $200 for this level of quality is absurd to him.

Yeah....what? It's not worth it to Navarro or someone like myself to spend $300 even on nice pre-paints because _we like painting_. What has that got to do with business sense?

If you hate painting though, this is a tremendous deal. You'd be paying a pathetic wage to any "pro-painter" you could commission to do comparable paint jobs for that money.

Anyone know if the whole box comes unpainted for say 60-100USD?

My point actually makes a lot of sense but unfortunately you don't get it. The basic box cost $100. Even if you get a discount on from retail, you have to pay for shipping and handling cost. So, you are only looking at a $200 difference. If you are a professional painter, it is true that you don't need to buy any pre-painted figure. But for making a living as a painter, you will be working at a pathetic rate way below the minimal wages. If you like to paint as a hobby, it will not be fun for you to be paid to paint for others. For someone who don't want to paint, it is a very good deal. For someone who wants to start painting, it is even worse. You have to buy the paints, brushes, air-gun, matte finish, etc. and invest in a fair amount of time and may not come up with a good outcome. For this the difference of $200, I will be extremely lucky to find a professional painter to work. $300 is expensive but reasonable, nothing to be laughed at.

You point makes no sense to Narravo and to me. It doesn't matter how cheap it is. The fact is neither he nor I will buy it even at the saving. You throw out the "no business sense" comment out of no where and it has no bearing on the issue that Narravo was raising. He and I won't use PPM - end of story. To say neither of us have business sense because we won't buy a product is really dumb and exceptionally poor debating skills.

wildger mate what are you talking about?

You seem a bit stressed out with my post and I have no idea why.
I will try to rephrase:

I buy miniatures to paint them or to convert them its my hobby... paying someone else to do that for me is pointless because its like paying someone to have my fun at my expenses
Its like you buy your favorite chocolat and give it someone else, then pay him to eat it!
This is my take on Prepainted, I will not pay 1cent extra for it... and looking at extra 200 dolars its far from cheap, in fact I think its ridiculous expensive ( they say its painted by hand?... Im willing to bet its a mix of machine and then hand paint for the odd little detail or cool effects). At the end of the day its just some overpriced Prepainted toy soldiers... even for prepainted market is kind of to much?

In short I understand someone on the other side loving prepainted or commissioned paintjobs(these I can swallow inflated prices its unique piece of art), what I cannot understand is your comments regarding my business sense because, and sorry for redundance, it makes NO sense

At the time of writing this post, there are only 5 premium edition box left. This is the first patch with reasonable QC. It will be gone soon. If you want to get it afterward, you'll have to wait for the second patch which only happens if there is enough orders to fill.

There may be only 5 left on the dust tactics site, but there will be more made. There were 50 allotted to north america and more to the rest of the planet.

Those 5 on the site may be gone soon, but that doesnt mean anything other than the 5 left on the dust tactics site being gone.

FFG dont reprint games "which only happens if there is enough orders to fill", they reprint games when they are sold out. They absolutely never rely on preorders in order to fund a game. Big difference. A set amount gets produced and then sold. Rinse then repeat.

Read the FFG website or contact them personally if you dont beleive me.

Correct me if I am wrong. I thought FFG is only the distributor of the game for North America. The premium sets are produced in small patch each time. God knows how many are in a small patch.

The word you were looking for is batch, as in batch of cookies. Not patch.

For those who missed it, the premium edition is done by professional painters.
So the quality is not "a good pre-paint", it is above tabletop quality.
They had a set displayed at Gencon and they looked great.

The $100 edition, however, is a good prime coat on infantry, and good prepaint on the tanks.

$200 extra dollars for 4 tanks and 30+ infantry is not a bad price to pay.
Compare it to paintedfigs or Blue Table prices, I think you are coming out ahead.

If you feel you can paint well enough, the $100 box is for you.

Pros: Looks great. The artwork is fantastic and the idea of a different WW2 is amazing.

Cons: The game might suck. For $300 special edition, that's way too far out of my budget as I like to paint my minis. $100 for a game... maybe. Just depends on how good it is.

To each his own. For myself, I'll have to see it first and look at gameplay before I drop some cash on it.
