Hi all, I've been painting and modeling for awhile now but have recently decided to actually throw some dice and play a game. My issue is actually finding a like minded group to play with. I would prefer an older group of folks since I'm pushing 40 and would feel a tad uncomfortable playing with teens so if anyone is aware of a nice group or a gaming location to go to in the city (Manhattan or Queens) that would be awesome. I appreciate any help or leads to find this mythical beast.

Speak with Jin the Swap Shop Tyrant err....Mod. He lives near the city and should give you some nice places to try out.

I on the other hand live in the East End of Long Island and about 2 hours to far for casual gaming.

I'm not quite a tyrant yet.

From my understanding, there really aren't too many groups in the city. There're the Warmongers based off the Compleat Strategist - decent bunch of guys, but definitely on the more competitive side of things (not necessarily a bad thing, just a statement of fact). Then there's the GW in the Village. But...that one's filled with kiddies. The Warmongers tend to be WFB-focused, though I'm sure some of them play 40k. The GW definitely has more 40k players, though I've seen WFB and LotR being played there as well.

What systems do you play, Stravo?

Just getting into 40k right now and wanted to get down and roll some dice and have my SM army have a go at someone. I checked out the warmongers online and they seem like a good group to at least reach out to and see if they're interested in schooling a noob.

zedsdead,

Thanks! I actually joioned the Yahoo Group for your club recently because aside from the Warmongers you were the only club that came up in any of my local searches. I have a friend in White Plains so it might be worth it to head up there to finally get a game in. I take it you guys won't mind a first time player trying to learn the game. I know some people might get a little frustrated with someone who doesn't know all the ins and outs right off the bat. Aside from the tournament is there any fees to pay to come and play on regular game days and how late are you guys playing until on Monday?
