Has anyone else been doing the beta or following this? I just got into beta a few days ago and so far it's been a lot of fun for a free game. I'd almost pay for the game in it's current state. With a little more polishing, and some of the additions they are talking about before release, I'd definately pay for it. It's got some historical accuracy, but still is fun to play (very hard to achive with WWII era tanks.)

Been playing for a month. Fun but kinda wonky. balance sometimes is nonexistent. Really hate it when T44's or leopards eat my arty since no one bothers to protect us

Its not too bad. Free repairs and ammo! (although tier 4-5 pretty much guarantees cash even if you lose all your HP)

It only gets bad when you find your T28 ineffective against a Panther!

Heh the misunderstood T28 Terrible until you get the 85mm on it, then it can be a lot fun....although still just tickles the paint on Panthers.

Having played for a few weeks now, I really don't think the balance is too far off. The match making system is pretty screwy at times for sure, but between the actual tanks it's pretty decent. Even the stuff that's generally considered pretty OP or UP is not as bad as it seems. I'm still having a lot of fun with it.

Well not much of a game reviewer but alright

WoT I must say is a very impressive MMO/Multilayer Shooter Type game with an obvious lack of actual people but tanks driven by ghosts! (not really but there is never anyone driving them!) Excellent Graphics and scenery from an open snow powdered farm land to a giant lake water front to an urban city. My only complaint is that German Grey and Russian Green gets really boring after a while. Thankfully WoT doesnt mind a good potion of its community skinning tanks from the silly to historically accurate.

Tanks range from early WW2 (panzerjagers and B2 Chars) to either beyond WW2 or fantasy (VK tanks, Maus, IS7) with 3 types of tanks: Tanks (which are subdivided into light, medium, and heavy), Tank Hunters, and Self Propelled Guns (Mobile Artillery). Even then each vehicle is unique with different crew and equipment with guns, ammo types, radios, tracks, engines, turret type, and additional extras that determine everything from speed to armor penetration. You have 3 resources, Gold (premium items like 100% trained crew and certain tanks which really arent very good tanks) Credits (what you use to buy tanks and parts) and Experience (use it to research tanks and equipment). By far imo the biggest road block that has to be grinned is the XP where in some games even with premium account (50% extra XP and creds earned) you'll get less than 100 if you dont do too much before getting blown up (happens a lot, get use to it fast) but later on creds will also be a problem in late tier tanks where you'll barely break even sometimes if you get too many holes or use too much ammo.

Matches are between 2 teams of 15 vehicles each. Sometimes though it may be unbalanced as some teams have certain vehicles that the other team lacks. You win by either capping the enemies base or killing all the enemy tanks. Obviously even with a leopard, rushing will get you killed. Also not taking care of scouts will let enemy arty know here you are without you knowing where they are until they fire (high explosive ammo makes a really obvious tracer) Communication is key but WoT does not have a Mic option so you'll have to type everything (gets annoying) or use pre set commands like "Attention to this potion of the map" or "attacking". Once you blow up, thats it. The Match ends for you. You can still observe but this is where spare tanks come in as you can join a battle with that tank since as long as a match is going on, tanks in that battle will not be usable until the end. Dont worry to much about speed. there is an auto drive mode that lets you control your tank without worrying to have your finger on the drive button. I'm still pretty much a non Pro so I usually use the auto aim system which locks on to tanks and predicts where they are going. Great for stationary tanks or tanks going straight into you but not good against really fast tanks. Artillery is a bit different as you get a birds eye view of the field with a click of a button. Of course you dont get auto aim with that and obstructions will block your shells. Finally if you or your friends have Prem accounts, you can make a platoon of 3 tanks so you're guaranteed to play on the same team. Heres some general tips

1. As Light tanks, you primarily scout out for artillery and tanking down artillery. Except in the beginner levels though where some light tanks can only go 30Km/h. Later on though you could go 70km/h. You're very fragile and most likely will not have guns to defeat high armored vehicles. use your speed and small size to weave through.

2. As Medium tanks, you are the jack of all trades and master of many. Always try to buddy up with someone. Wolf Packing Heavy tanks is a big strategy to use so that even T34's can cause problems to a IS or Tiger. You also have weapons that can swiftly deal with tank hunters and artillery as long as you get to their backside (they have fixed gun positions). Do underestimate medium power. 2 of the best tanks in the game are medium tanks (Panthers and T44's. Both of these are devilishly fast with guns that make heavies cringe)

3. As Heavy tanks, you are the most armored and usually SLOW. Do not think you are invincible. Slow turret movement and large size makes you an ideal target for wolf packs. You also make good artillery targets. Getting immobilized will really hurt you. Still many tanks will fear you and you can hold up to even tank hunter attacks. Still its best to travel with some mediums

4. As Tank Hunters, you have fire power that can go right through a tank very well. lightly armored and vulnerable to flankers, its best to hide in a bush to become camo'd so that you are hidden until they get close enough or you fire. You primarily have to be a defender but some TH are as fast as some mediums while the last ones are as tough as heavies. But really watch out for wolf packs even more so than heavies. Also sitting too long in the same spot marks you good as arty bait

5. As SPG, you usually boast the best firepower or the best range. Open fields are your friend while cities make you limited. you can hit tanks that think they are safe or hidden. You will usually have slow reload times to try not to waste too many shots. Use your friends to find the big targets like heavies, tank hunters, and other artillery. a good SPG can really pack in the hurt. Watch out for fast tanks or or artillery.

(For now anyways) you get 150 gold per day. Then with that you can spend it on premium account days

1 day is 250 (blegh) 7 days is 1250 I think, 30 days is 2500 (best imo since you make a profit of gold)

Shooter where you can just go play, but it has an xp and money system that lets you get to the better tanks and such.

Its a lifesucker if you want a +8 Tier tank probably. You'll need months worth of xp and you'll barely break even on costs for repairs and ammo I hear. Other than that its pretty casual

Since playing for a couple of hours - I'm loving this game. The only con's they need to fix is the clippings, sometimes i'd be having a 1v1 with another tank and i would hit a slight incline which then i would get stuck. The latency issue i have (coming from Australia) gives me a constant 300ms you get used to it i suppose.

could anyone help me? I'm stuck on t2 with the USSR just playing with the t-26 and the bt-2, what should i go up to next? i've got about 90,000 credits.

Well I'd go with the BT2. You'll end up at a T34 which is a great all rounder. The T26 leads to the KV which is painfully slow and not very powerful so you'll have to endure that for days until a KV3 is available (although T28 is also a good tank). So get the BT7

Not enjoying the game at the moment. Long story short, i just get owned. all people do is camp with the heavy and art with AT's to back up, i scout and die (even if its a mid-late rush) and i do absolutely zero damage to anything. This is only when i've enter T3 and im playing with tigers and vehicles in the T5-6's...

Well yup thats how non Beginner games go. They throw you out to the lions.

Best advice I can give is pray you get a Tier<7 Battle (happens sometimes with KV3's being the largest thing to see) or keep grinding till you get better tanks

When having a pitiful tank like a BT7, you still get xp for reviling enemies so dont bother shooting too much and just try to avoid the large clumps of them.
