Unusually for core units they are metal. Nice enough looking minis, nothing exciting, but I gotta wonder, what's the point? At $25 for 5 of them (non-command), it'll take at least $100 for a decent sized unit, when there's the plastic spearmen/seaguard kit available at about half the price per model, plus the IoB guys who are even cheaper on ebay. I just can't see this offering going over well...

They're the old ones rereleased.

That's why they're metal.

The real issue here is not the rerelease of the old figures, which is great, it is that GW is charging $5 for a metal regimental figure.

More than $3 MSRP for a single metal figure, and it becomes a non-starter for building regiments/squads/platoons.

Maybe I am just cheap though.

Moving a mini to the "Classic" section and doubling the cost is a pretty standard move by GW.

It's the same price as when they were in metal blisters of 3 for $15.

Shame about the prize, I do love these models though, still got WD 220 where they were released and given rules.

Heh, guess I need to read closer, missed the "classic" reference. For some reason $15 for 3 seems more palatable to me than $25 for 5. Maybe it's cuz the only time I buy metal blisters it's for command or if I really want a specific mini.

Anyway, anyone know where the shields on the unit from the bottom came from? Those are pretty dang cool looking. Also, the champion from that unit is pretty impressive as well. (Not that I need any more champions )

I think he means the "blank" blue shields with the dragon trim at the bottom of that link.

They didn't come with the original Sea Guard release, so I'm not sure where they're from.

If that's the case, it's from the High Elf Noble/Prince boxed set.

I'm liking the new sea guard. Using spearmen as sea guard look too much like spearmen, at least now i can add the 5 metal ones to the 10 you get in the boxed game and have a suitable sized unit of matching models. Thats gotta be the thinking behind it, and to be fair it's a good move, the price is not tho! metal models are too expensive! But thats a general statement.

While the metal Lothern Seaguard is a rerelease of old models (and good ones!), the metal shields are actually new (and also added to the old miniatures).
Being metal, they are also not part of the Elf Prince plastic box

Kroothawk, do you mean the blue shields on the regiment shot at the bottom of that link? I think everyone's talking about different shields.

Also, wouldn't the metal Sea Guard look quite small next to the IoB plastics? I had the metals about twelve years ago and remember them being quite slight even then.
