Hi I m a skaven beginner and i wanted to ask what was better the island of blood or the skaven battalion.

Island of blood supplies you with:

1 Warlord/Chieftan
1 Warlock Engineer
1 Master Moulder

40 Clan Rats (including 2 sets of command)
1 Warpfire Thrower
1 Poisoned Wind Mortar

2 Rat Ogres


The Battalion provides you:
40 Clan Rats (including 2 sets of command)
20 Plague Monks
2 Rat Ogres
6 Giant Rats
3 Packmasters

The Island Of Blood is actually cheaper than the Battalion box (at least for US buyers), and actually contains a bit more of what you need to start off than the Battalion box does. It also comes with a portable rulebook, templates and blah blah blah a bunch of filthy high elves to sell / turn into skaven slaves.

If you're just starting off, Island of Blood is a pretty good deal. I'm considering purchasing another one, myself.

I'm going with both. IoB models are static, they come as they are. The Battalion will allow you to customize. From what i've gathered, units of 20 skaven just aren't big enough, and if you buy two IoB's worth of skaven, your gonna end up with two command units that you don't really need. Get the battalion and you can bulk out your squads without wasting command models.

Dfinately the IOB first, if you break down what it would normally cost you to get in the IOB vs battalion it would cost you like 30-50 $ (canadian) more for what's in the island of blood then the batallion, of course that would include some metal models.

I m was thinking i will buy the IOB and then get the Batallion for Christmas and then i think il go for a warp lightning cannon next what do you think. (any ideas for a conversion i cant seem to find one in the Czech Republic)

Get the IoB first. You can sell or trade the high elves in the box for more Skaven!
