I am looking to start a 1k DA army in the future and was wondering at such low points which work best together

1) Raven Wing / Death Wing

2) Death Wing / Green Wing

3) Green Wing / Raven Wing

I've heard a lot of good things about a RW/DW army but the points are quite high on all the models I'd be worried about having a severely low model count at 1k

I tried ravenwing deathwing for a bit. I loved the theme, but couldn't get over the low model count . . . (thank god for IG) They seem really strong, but I found that I had to treat them like they were glass in order to survive.

Captains have Rites of Battle, meaning all Combat Squads can have Ld10. Alternately stuff like Interrogator-Chaplains can take Command Squads and give them a Banner for a 12" Fearless Aura. Ezekiel can also produce such an aura, and Command Squads are Fearless anyways. Librarians have a limitless range Psychic Hood (although only Ezekiel has Ld10).

Also, Tactical Squads can take a Special weapon in a Combat Squad.

Elite Scouts means that you can still make effective use of Sniper Rifles, and you can get discounted Venerable Dreadnoughts (no WS5/BS5 though...).

so I'm guessing Green Wing/ Raven Wing would be the best as terminators don't do well without their expensive transports at 1000pts.

On an add note is Sammael too much of a point sink at this level of points despite his ability (which would make everything very effective)

At 1000 points you don't have enough points to do what you need. Dark Angel troops areexpensive no matter what you pick.

Doublewing strats don't really work until 1500 points. However, by 2000, you don't really have enough bodies to be effective.

I suppose I was hoping for too much so I guess I'll be doing raven wing, besides I like a challenge
