Once again I regret my impulsive decision to get a 5 box Raumjager Deal to build up a Space German IG regiment. I liked the Grognards better than the Raumjager and I like those better than the Grognards.

Once we reach the inevitable Space Russians I will probably like them better too.

I can see these shooting to the top of WGA best sellers for that very reason.

Plus, yea, seems to be the sharpest sci-fi kit so far by a mile, albeit not very sci-fi at all. Looks like it would work just fine for some victoriana pulp adventure heroes with non-standard, but almost period tech appropriate gear.

Vigo. Spain.

Yeah they look more like victorian-esque steampunk troopers more than scifi ones.

Still great.

There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

What I particularly like about them, just like with Grognards, is their thematic versatility. Paint them red and give them pith helmets and you are in the Victorian era, paint them khaki and give them brodie helmets and you're in the trenches of the 20th Century. Give them "normal" heads and they are standard infantry, give them bearskins and they're elite troops.

If I were to buy them, I'd probably put the bearskins with gas masks on scions, the pith helmets on the infantry squads and the peaked caps on the HQs.

Not a problem. There is In Her Majesty's Name: Steampunk Skirmish Wargaming Rules for Steampunk mini gaming. Originally, it was published by Osprey, part of their "blue book" wargames series, but the designers have the rights to it again, and have released a 2nd edition under their own imprint.
https://theministryofgentlemanlywarfare.wordpress.com/in-her-majestys-name/

Northstar cast the official minis for it, and still sell them "unbranded".
https://www.northstarfigures.com/list.php?man=207&cat=680&page=1

As for the picture itself, where did it come from? I didn't see a blog entry on the WGA site.

Anyway, I'll get a box when they are released. As Esmer has already mentioned, it will be a versatile kit.

Miniatures Market finally got in the Cannon Fodder, so I ordered them, as well as a box each of Raumjager and Lizardmen.

I wonder if they've already settled on an official name. At this point I'd really just leave it at "Space Brits".

Thanks for the reply. I don't Facebook.

Earlier in the year when they first announced this kit, I submitted "Sons of Albion" on their blog. (Albion being an old name for Britain, from the Romans.) Sons of Britannia would also work.

Finally got my cannon fodder. They look great, but no bases included?

I mean it's not like I don't have a million plastic bases, they sort of accumulate like dust in the corners of bits boxes and half done projects.

On the other hand, very happy the supporting (left) hand for the rifles isn't cast into the rifle, it's going to be very easy to do weapon swaps.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.

Don't their historicals have integrated ones?

Yes, but ScarletRose was not referring to those. And WGA does not consider integral puddle bases as bases either, as shown by the quote below. {Found near the end of their product descriptions in their webstore.}
https://wargamesatlantic.com/collections/all/products/cannon-fodder

Models require assembly and painting. Bases are not included. Not for Children. Contents may vary from photos.

It's one of the reasons why we get 24 - 30 models per box for a very reasonable price point.

Bases and building instructions, as much as we like them, cost money and take up space in boxes.

Personally, I'm in for at least three boxes but will slow time build in a wait for follow up Command/ Heavy options.

The inclusion of a kneeling leg option does allow for a head start with the spare heavy weapons left over from my Les Grognard boxes.

Although I'm a pith helmet fan, the idea of bearskins and gas masks seems like a nice alternative.

How do Wargames Atlantic historicals compare scale other historicals? I am specifically wondering how the Conquistadors would scale with the Warlord Games landsknecht and Perry Miniatures 1450 to 1500 stuff. Neither Warlord nor Perry have a good swordsman in plastic, which is a must for an Empire army!

If that's an Old Guard Grenadier, they need to sculpt the metal plate with the Eagle on the bearskin.

Hopefully these won't be wearing longcoats, like the Victrix ones, but their pimptastic parade uniforms.

That would be a good reason to duplicate an existing kit on the market, as it is not a direct duplicate. And if you are going to play Napoleonics, you want to paint the parade uniforms, even though every Napoleonic gamer knows that every side would have been in campaign dress (which was simpler by the standards of the day) on the march and in battle.

Nah, that looks like a spanish grenadier. Taller bearskin, slightly slimmer towards the top. No plate, but a bag on the rearside. The bicorne also looks spanish. Got a fly instead of a cocarde.
Could of course also be works in progress and they end up being french...
WA announced the spanish ages ago and a french grenadiers army builder a few weeks ago.
