Furious Fire Dragon

Hey guys, so I have decided to repaint my 1000pt eldar army. I don't really like the quality of my paintjob. The colour scheme is red underarmour and orange armour. So really the main colour is orange. I have a farseer, warlock, 10 guardians, 10 dire avengers, 8 fire dragons, 3 jetbikes, 1 walker, and a falcon. Here is a little history for my army. I started them when I first started the hobby of warhammer about 2 years ago, so they are my first army. They are from the craftworld of Rau'our. I really only have the name of the craftworld I dont really have any lore for them, I'm thinking of making some though. I already have the farseer, warlock and the dire avenger exarch repainted. I am going to do the fire dragon exarch next. I will post as often as I can, a lot during the weekends and at least once perday on weekdays. So for now I will leave you with these pictures of the army.

I think your starting product was pretty darn good. I would warn you about re painting without stripping the original coat first. Depending on how thin your first coat was, you may end up losing detail . When you basecoat over your finished models from two years ago just be aware of that. If you are stripping or were thinking about it there are a ton of threads on here to teach you how. Good luck and can't wait to see your new paint jobs!

Actually they were painted in a period of time up to a few months ago. The fire dragons being my most recent. I have stripped models before and was thinking of stripping the ones that are not good enough to paint over, the guardians defiantly. Thanks for the advice though, . Here is what I have so far for the FD exarch. Just the base coats for the red and orange and some details.

Definitely looks a lot more interesting now that it's not just one solid color!

try using red washes on the orange to give a bit of depth to the colour

"Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Where should I put the wash? Just straight on it or in the creases.

mainly in the creases, though it really depends on what effect ur going for
for example if you want clearly orange armor on top of red undersuit, then wash in the creases and then glaze the armor

Ok I might try it. Automatically Appended Next Post: I am actually not to sure on how to paint the lava rock he is standing on. Do the lighter colours go at the top or the bottom like you would paint fire.
