Empire Games (theres a ton of ads round here), I might be there on Sunday.
About 750/1000 worth of orks. Mostly painted (about 98%).

I also do warmachine if you have that.
Im the asian guy with orks. I think Im the only asian guy with orks there.

If at first you don't succeed, you fail.

Thanks for the reply!

I have played at Empire Games. I do have a war machine army. I have spent so much money on 40k that that is the game I prefer. I have only played war machine one time. Between you and me and anyone that reads this... I like 40k better for two reasons. The models rock and go up in value. 40k has proven itself with staying power. Even with all the rule changes and price increases, people still play.

I think I may have seen you at battle field. Where you ever there?

I would love to play Sunday 1000pts. Oh Ya I have orks and chaos but I play eldar.

I am often up in Empire Games on weekends and would get in a 40K game (I too am looking for more 40K players).  I am down in Mass but it is a short drive up to Empire for a game or 2 on the weekends.  Right now I am working on my 2000 pt Inquisitor list, and can field .... oh ... close to 20,000 pts (give or take) of Dark Angles.

Battlefield... oh how much I miss that place...
it was like a second home.
Just ask the "owner", I practically lived there.

If you have seen me at battlefield, then I think I may have seen you.

Eldar... I know 2 eldar players.

Cant wait!

We have lots of Warmachine going on right now at Empire with the new Flex league, but there are still several people with 40k armies too.  Right now I'm mostly playing WM but would definitely be up for a 40k game at some point.  I'd most likely want to play a 1500-1800pt game, using either my Dark Angels (best painted) or Eldar (painted, but not very well).  My Chaos stuff is on the painting back burner right now.

I'm mostly there on Tuesdays, and work some weekends, but I have very random days off, so feel free to drop me a PM or an email at sword_of_the_faith "at" hotmail.com  if you're looking for a game.

Greetings.... Gordon here(owner at Empire)

Lately our 40k crowd has been scattered to the winds due to new jobs school college and real life. For some time Friday has been 40k night at Empire we still push that at the store .its a way for everyone to count on having a place and time to play without any planning on their part we even stay open late on Fridays till 11pm to accommodate the 40k crowd.
Also to note is Empire supports many games and certain days favor one game or another so Fridays will normally have more 40k gaming tables set up while Sundays favors our Flames or war crowd and the tables available will favor FOW for that day.
If you know people looking for 40k time let them know Friday is the day....

Also if the crowd was to grow and need another day better suited we would work with them to help them out.
but for now Friday is 40K day . hope this helps....Gordon

Hey Gordon,

That is great, that is just what I am looking for. I have not stopped in on a Friday to get a pick up game. I guess I am a little out to the loop. I have stopped in on other days looking for a game, usually on Tuesday, but come up empty. Last I knew that is when you had a 40k flex league.

I have talked to Russ about continuing the Flex league since last October but he is not interested at this time. I am still trying to get a game or talk to Raef. He is a tough one to get a hold of.

I have been monitoring the flex leagues on this web site. A 40k league has not been going on since last October. I have been playing at Collectibles Unlimited in Concord at 28 South Main in Concord - 228-3712. They just had a mega battle on 2/11/06. In March they will be running a kill team campaign. They are still small in the number of 40k players but a league is in the planning stages.

I am still up for a game Ork Man!!!!!!!!

My hope is that this thread will let people know what day to stop by to play we have alot of 40K vets trying new things thats why Tuesday may have been unlucky for you when the crowd shifted to tuesday it threw our 40k friday games off.
If you know anyone let them know friday is the day maybe we can get these 40K players playing again?
I wounder how many others will show up on a friday to play? you should start a thread or a poll to gage interest.

Again, thanks for the reply. You have really good suggestions and ideas . Some of those ideas work for me. I would love to contribute to a 40k night. I have really come to love to play. Thank you Ragnar, after our last battle I have enjoyed every game. Unfortunately Friday evenings are not good for me. I can play a pick up game every few Fridays. But a lot of us in this hobby have a significant other. In my case Friday night is reserved for that hobby.

From what I can remember Dakka Dakka, when it was a store, ran 40k leagues on Tuesday. Battle Field continued the tradition with a Tuesday 40k league night. Gamers our habitual creatures, and I think you will be hard pressed to have a 40k league night on a Friday. I could be wrong.

I am not trying to step on any toes. I am a 40k gamer. You have a good shop to play in, with ac in the summer. The 40k crowd that is in Manchester is awesome. I am looking for a game with one of them. I would also love for some type of 40k league play or 40k events on a consistent basis with the 40k gamers in Manchester. At this point Collectibles Unlimited in Concord is doing just that. When you had a league I played in your store. I dropped a lot of coin at the same time. It would behoove you to run some type of 40k event. You know I would be there.

This thread is supposed to get me a pick up game.
Ragnar are you still up for a game?

Nate?! Ive seen you!
You have the wonderfully painted eldar guys.

Umm, Friday, unfortunatly, is not a day for me.
As it seems my family (parents or older brother) will other bother to pick me up/drop me off once a week, and Fridays are like "bleh" days, because school is tiring.

Battlefield did continue the tradition of 40k Tuesdays, but noone really showed up, until he hired Robin to teach painting classes. Then sundays were the day.
Robin is a great painter.

you mean there's people other than me and my roommate who play 40k in Manchester?! Heh heh

My roommate and I have well over 2000 points each (he's Space Marine, I'm IG), and the best day for us would be Sundays. I also know two other guys who are just starting back up and have around 1000-1500 points each (Ork and Tau).

I'm personally available Friday nights, but the only day my roommate and I both have off is Sundays. :-\ Lately we've just been playing on the board we have at our house.

Great to here from you kidsyndrome! Sunday is perfect for me as well. I will be at Empire today and Sunday to play. I have also started a new thread as Gordon suggested. Proposed 40k League in Manchester, just look in the forum, general, campaigns

Maybe if we can agree on some general rules and a day to play we will be up and running again.

I have 1000pts ready for you Shadow_Strike. I know who you are to?

For what it's worth, I've moved on to the Game Castle. I still haven't had a chance to play Fantasy there, but they're starting a campaign on Tuesday that I'll be in.

Besides, now that I have all my models for my Marines, I've joined their 40k League as well. I'm sucking, but I'm playing, at least.

And really, Shadow_Strike, are you still bitter about Battlefield closing? Even I'm over it by now...

Yes because it ate my time up like a hungry dog.

Now I sit at home and can actually finish my army and hone my artsy skills.
The ones I lack.

Edit: Sunday it is.

Ill be there sat and sun then.
Hey Von~Drakken, stop by sunday if you can, so then everyone can have one giant 40k battle.

I got a game in!!!!!  Although we were not victorious the battle was extremely competitive.  Ragnar pulled the win off in the six turn.  It was an epic battle but it left me wanting more.  I will be at Empire Games on Sunday.  I hope to battle some orks but any opponent will do.  <?

So it looks like we had 5 people show up at Empire on Sunday to actually play 40k, and at least two-three more who didn't end up playing but expressed interest... good start for 40k picking back up in Manch!

I myself had a great time getting trounced by Mad Boy... I'll be much more prepared to face the highly mobile Eldar next time around!

Hopefully there'll be a few more faces next Sunday... for anyone who plans on coming, I'd suggest bringing a 1000, 1250, and 1500 point army/list as those seem to be the ranges of point values that most people had at their disposal.

So people are going to show up at Empire on Sunday (2/26/2006) to play some 40K?  We then maybe I will just have to stop in also.  I am sure I can drag John along for another person.

FYI: we normally try to play 2000 pt games
        I play daemon/witch hunters
        John plays Nurgle

Well I know my roommate and I both have 2000 points no prob, so I'll just prepare a bunch of lists from 1000 to 2000 and we'll see what happens!

And yes, I was referring to 2/26... of 2006 though... if I'm reading your date right I'm going to steal your time machine... :-)

Shadow_Strike you are only focusing on one small aspect of the battle that was in my favor.   The range for throwing a singing spear is 12".  This aloud you warboss to get into hth with the seer council.  The singing spears really did nothing to you in hth. Singing spears only gives the bearer one attack because it is a two handed weapon. Yes it does always wound on a 2+ but you get your normal armor saves. If I were you I would be concerned with the vypers. They had you for breakfast. Three vypers with 3 shurkin cannons, 3 star cannons and CTM is certain doom for all orks.

kidsyndrome I re-read the rules on armor penetration. We calculated the Armor penetration wrong. You had a strength nine weapon that hit a vyper on two separate occasions. Vypes armor is 10. You rolled a one on the armor penetrating roll both times. That equals the armor of the vyper and thus would be a glancing hit. I concede the points for each vyper. The base points would be 50 pts for the vyper. Each also had a heavy weapon for 15 pts and CTM for 30 pts. So each vyper was 95pts. I also concede the game. This could have changed the out come of the game. I must ask for a rematch.

I have posted some preliminary rules for our league in the campaign thread we started.

I'll be there on Sunday.

KommadantVince I have 2000 pts. Let?s dance?
