HQ:

Sammi on JB 205

Troops:

2 x RAS (2 flamers, Sarge w/ MB, AB MM).185pts each

1 x RAS (2 plasma, Sarge w/ MB, AB MM).205pts

1 x RAS (2 plasma, apoth, sarge with MB AB MM).220pts

This is a list I've come up with (albeit with a good bit of help) and would like to know what the people of dakka think of it (and I'm aware that this isn't easy to play with tactically)

Well, I'd consider two full RAS units led by Sammael.
The full units can be split if necessary.
There is no need to field small units in the first place.

they're in smaller units to get more attack bikes and generally when RW get into CC they will not win, be it in squads of 6 or3

Run full squads of 6. No questions about it. Keep them combined in KP games and split them up in Obj. games.

I would run this

Sammael
-jet bike

6 Bikes
-2 melta
-powerfist
-apothecary
MM Attack Bike

6 Bikes
-2 melta

MM Attack Bike

Speeder

Flyinmiata1's proposed list is well known to DA players and reliable. I generally field power weapons instead of powerfists on my bikes but that's up to personal choice.

I would recommend changing one of the bike's special weapons armament to flamers, if you end up facing horde armies

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

Nice list.
I'd integrate the Speeders into the Biker units.

But if I integrate the Speeders into troops don't they become the regular ones

as for the new list is the loss of the attack bikes and the extra weapons a big issue?

You aren't using speeders as troops. They are too expensive and can't have a MM.

Use as fast attack. Turbo boost them along a corner of the board for a cover save. Next turn they are ready to rock. Your opponent will probably spend his shooting at your bikes which also have turbo boosted but stopped just short of their assault range.

My list still has 2 attack bikes, but bolsters your bike squads to their needed number. You don't run ravenwing bikes at half strength. You want the ability to combat squad or not.

In objective games you still have 6 scoring units (4 3man bike squads, and 2 attack bikes). In KP games you have 7 KPs, that are not easy to kill at 5 toughness...again decent.

The loss of a couple flamers is no big deal. They are only good vs. horde lists which will have a hard time dealing out wounds against 5 toughness. Yes even orks on a charge have a tough time "killing" bikes. You don't let an enemy charge you...You have the mobility to your advantage to set up your opponent for whatever you like. meltas do the job against any target. Plasma is good, but I don't like them in a ravenwing army as you cannot afford to lose not a single model to "gets hot" rule.

Thank you very much that clears up a lot ( and with good reason)
