okay i'm starting a new army and as you might of guessed it's a rebbel grot army. I've been thinking about a grot army since i started the hobby and after seeing all these fantastic grot armies that have been popping up i decided to go forward with this army. I'm putting up lots of pics and some backround story for the army.

anyway heres the first post i'm hoping to get loads of feedback so tell me what you think (btw i know the photos are kinda bad so please dont comment on that) -cheers

Well, I'd rather say "It looks good, keep it up, but please try to snap less blurry pictures!!!"

It can only make your work stand out more, and thus garner more comments!!!

It's not the light as much as the lack of focus. Try taking the photo from a little further away then you can enlarge it a bit in your photo editor.

From what I can see, they're looking good.

My advice on the photography side is to have read on these articles...

http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Photographing_your_models

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/317430.page

My own preference is to take photos in daylight with a thin blind or white sheet over the window to diffuse the light. I also use a tripod and the timer function on the camera to reduce the effect of camera shake - I normally set the camera on the close-up / macro (?) mode - symbol for this is a flower on my cameras.

Yay! Another revolution! Always great to see the fires of rebellion spreading, and the boss is looking good. What codex will you be using? When it comes to painting, have you considered painting the eyesockets black before adding the eye in white and red? It'll give a much more striking effect.

Pics are much better now!!!

I especially like the third one, waving his weirdy-thingy rod with an insane look!!!
I think you could try & highlight his eyes a bit more, for they are just plain red for now; and, from the size they seem to have, it looks like it wouldn't be too difficult to work on them...

You could try and further his weird looks by giving his chameleon eyes, or any other animal that can split his gaze in two different directions!!!

commisarkhaine: thanks alot it was actually you're blog that encouraged me to do this and i will also use the ork codex no other codex seems right. Btw do you mind if i use youre stealth suit conversion to do a few mega grots though i might alter it a bit. oh and thanks for the tip i will try that when painting the next stuff.

yggdrasil: thanks i will try and do more highlighting on the next lot but i'm not having a completly red army its just diffrent coulors to identify the squad.

oh does anybody know a good coulor i could paint my vehicles and heavy armoured infantry
btw the boss guy is the runtherd later on i'm gonna put how ranks work in my rebbellion.

Always nice to hear I inspired people . oh, and feel free to use the megagrot idea. If I didn't want people using them I wouldn't be posting pics and a step-by-step . I've sene people use the IG ocdex as well, so both seel viable to me. When it comes to painting tanks/heavy infantry, keep in mind you'll be painting plenty of'em; the orange on my guys is cool but a lot of work, so that's definitely something to keep in mind. I'd go for a colour that contrasts nicely with your skin tone: red, yellow, a very dark blue maybe? Or the good old black of course.

i won't use the ig codex i already have an ig force. the colours are annoying i because im not sure what to do yet but anyway the mega grots are gonna be a bit diffrent to the ones you did i'm not sure how yet , but i want them diffrent so i have a unique and fun army. i'm putting up the fluff tommorow
the mega grot's will probably have lots of wires poking into the grot

i decided on a color and am going with a dark flesh color with red parts on some vehicles and blue on others
Ok i began work on the fluff and here it is

Da log of orksmash da grot-

[i]Da rebbelion started small wiv just a couple a grots meetin in da sewa where da orks could'n get. dere were me and a few otha grots 6 ta be exact dey iz still me commandas infact dere waz zagkrunch he always was goin fast, rakgull da stealy oone wiv da best gear, gorecrack da medic, old grotwurt da wierd grot, snikgrot da ussasin and nagres da ill tempad one. We uzed ta meet at night so da orks were'nt able ta see us sneakin round. but oneday we ad enough of da orks lordin it bout of us so we worked out dat dey always fight ova whose in charge but us grots did'nt fight and we worked out dere were'nt enough runtherds ta old us all in line so one day when da rutherd were'nt looking we shot him in da skull. Otha grots saw and did da same and soon we was killin of da boyz. Afta a year i ad a plan dat we would wait for da warboss and drop a massive boulder on his ead. and sure enough da plan worked but da orks was mad and started killin us. Luckily me and me lads told da utha grots ta be our soldiers and get of da planet and find a new planet where we would be ok. almostt every grot followed and we stoll a ulk. now i rememba sum ummies not to long before talk about an ship dat carried someone or uva ta safety and dey called it da einstien, so dats wat we called da ulk cus maybe if ya name it dat it can get away from stuff. when da grots were on da ulk we made a saciaty where da grots did'nt fight so we could conquer da universe. We arrived at da best planet eva where there were loads a grots and only a few orks so we got dem grots fightin da orks and we won and da spores made more grots. Afta dat planet we left sum grots dere ta lead da new world and we went of a took more worlds. we killed tau, elda, ummies all sorts and we get more grot ulks escapin da orks all da time acordin to old grotwurt we is in da east. now we avea small empire near da tau and nida and sum a dem jungle ummies we can fly to our planets givin grots a choice if they wanna fight loads say yes i fink dey want ravenge on da univers and i aint gonna stop em afta all fing are goin so well.[i] -writing found by survivng catachan jungle fighters after carncor IV war

ok i finished modelling the first 2 mega grots and grot boss orksmash using commissarkhaines conversion as a starting point and the adding my own ideas
btw i also began work on the big mek and i have finished his personal transport- this still counts as footsloggin big mek but i figured it would be too hard for a grot to carry a skorcha and kff around however the weight of this means the vehiicle can only move slowly.
anyway here are the pics and commissarkhaine do you mind what i did with you're idea ?

Looking interesting, just proves that stealth suits do have a use in 40K .

I like what you did for the warbopss, the neckguard makes the head mash pretty well with the body. He's a bit small though . A few words of advice: 1) make sure the cables run naturally and don't look like they could snag on lots of stuff, it'll add to the realism. 2) Make sure it fits together in a logical way. The bits on the back of the warboss look a bit tacked on which is a shame. 3) Thhe fee trneed some work. I got the same comment on my first megagrots, and it's simply true. Something to consider.

I like the dynamic poses you went for, though, so keep it up!

thanks for the comments guys not much going on with the meks trike thing i'm gonna guess it was overlokked beacuse of the grots

Arakasi: thanks i am having loads of fun with this project and to tell the truth im excitetd to see how it turns out

wib: i see you already have an ork army so you could merge them together i dunno if that would work though

commissarkhaine: thanks and i will try and use the wires better next tiime and i'll try and model the feet better, the boss however probably looks smaller on the photo but im pleased with how tall he is since he is bigger than an aob warboss, the feet though i might keep looking like the tau i just had an idea that might make em work i'll show you it later
