If you could it would be probably better to turn the 19 RXB into 2 x10 units if you can scrape the points for another 1.

That way you have all the same firing power with the ability to shoot at other targets.

Well the though on having them like they are is so the can rank up when need and go into combat and be a good spot for my sorceress. I also like the idea of shoot 40 then stand and shoot another 40. I did think about that though but in the end i like the bigger unit. Thanks for your ideas though.

I'd drop the soulrender, you don't want him swinging last. Give him either crimson death or a beastmaster's scourge.

Also, I'd try to get shields on those crossbowmen, as your plan is not a bad one. My lists usually always have two units of 20 with standard, musician, and shields. They are great and double as a melee unit when the time comes.

I'm not too big a fan of units of 10, 20 shots needing 5s most of the time to hit just isn't enough killing power, tried it once and I just have both units always shooting at the same target.

It also surrenders VPs easier, as a unit of 20 w/ shields is much harder to take out than two units of 10 (who really cannot live in combat).

Drop Soulrender and Armor of Darkness - your BSB needs the best ward save you can give him

What lore for the lvl 4?

I would drop the CoK for another RBT and to give points so the crossbows can have shields. Lets face it 5 CoK really aren't going to do much.

Will change weapon. I think to soul render. Or do you like the idea of dropping weapon all together and going with a guiding eye for the Sorceress?

What items do you recommend or have in mind? I agree with you but i could find any for under 50 thats decent and not the PoK. Lore either dark or shadow i cant decide what do you think? The cold on knights im thinking about dropping them im going to give them a chance, because i think they have potential as a good flank charging unit. and i need to find 19 points some where for those shields.

Give the Sorceress the Sacrificial Dagger and drop her in the big unit of power dice...oops, I mean Warriors.

But that unit is to small they would lose rank bonus to easily.

So bulk them up a little. A single sorceress without the Sacrificial dagger isn't really that useful. I'd drop for a lord and a level 2 in that case.

Sac Dagger won't do much either. When you only have 3 blocks to play with you don't want to lose guys for no reason.

I would go Armor of Destiny (4+ ward), then give him a beastmaster scourge, shield and sea dragon cloak. Thats how I run mine.

I would go shadow, I wouldn't even worry about getting pit. Just having the Hex's will be enough.

If you drop the CoK you will have plenty of room for the shields and potentially could pick up another bolt thrower.

I will give shadow a try, since i havent yet, but my first game i loved dark.

Ill give the knights a chance and if they fail i will switch them with a chariot and shields.

Yep, it's one of the new ones. Pretty snazzy, heavy armor and 4+ ward save but takes up all of your magic alottment on a Noble if memory serves. I rather like it for Dreadlords, too, since it doesn't take up a Talisman slot.

Edit: It's technically a point or two cheaper to go with the Talisman of Protection (4+ ward) and heavy armor. Sometimes that makes a difference in squeezing in something elsewhere that would normally put you just over the line.

I'm not thrilled about RBTs, but adding a chariot over the cold ones would be worth it.

And I was saying to "drop" souldrender...greatweapons take out our biggest advantage, really high initiative.

Come now, you should know better than to ask for specific item costs. Between noting that it would take up his full allotment for magic items and greenbay's offer of 5 naked crossbowmen, it should be apparent without infringing on forum rules.

O haha my apologies for the negative peer pressure okay but if i give him that, that means no weapon? is that alright? I like the idea of 4+ ward.

It does mean no magical weapon, unless you went through route of Talisman of Preservation + Biting Blade or something like that. Biting Blade wouldn't be worth it, though, since Beastmaster's Scourge gives you the same Armor Piercing bonus and also an additional attack for only 1 point more.

On the subject of your list i would keep the 5 CoK as in my experience they're very useful. Admittedly it's unlikely that they'll survive the battle but they'll certainly kill their points worth, oftetn twice or three times over before they go. Also, im not a fan of RBTs, others may like them but i think they're a bit of a waste of points. If it was me, i'd drop them for 3 more CoK and some command on them too, probably a musician.

Shadow all the way for your sorceress.

As for you BSB, i often run the armour of eternal servitude on BSBs. Regen. is just as good as a 4+ ward, except for it can be bypassed by flaming attacks, however for 15pts less points i generally think it's worth it. I'd then probably give him a halberd or scourge and a potion of foolhardiness.

hmm i am still iffy about the RBT but so far it is doing OKAY but no more so we will see. I agree i think the CoK are useful i dont know about making them bigger or giving them command. Ill have to get a hold of the BRB to make my decision on the BSB because i dont know any of those items.

That's a pretty good point regarding Armor of Eternal Servitude, 15 points cheaper and on most day-to-day things it's as good as the 4+ ward. It seems a fair amount of character-targetting spells bypass Regen but not Ward, but I may be thinking of something else. This armor is in your Dark Elf book.

I see 5 naked CoK as a decent not-quite-throw-away unit. At 135 points they aren't terribly expensive but can pack a decent punch when applied to something. They just aren't especially helpful against big blocks of infantry since they'll likely die to mass armor saves.

RBTs can do well and they're especially nice when you knock three wounds off of some big creature or when a 6-shot volley clears a small pesky unit of skirmishers. A big problem with them is that with the advent of Shadow Magic Hexes, 10 Crossbowmen often dish out more wounds (especially on units not relying on armor saves) while counting towards your Core requirements. If you already have as many Crossbowmen as you want, then the 100 points can go into other supporting units.

Hmmm i am confused what you were saying in your first paragraph? and i agree with you on the CoK they are good for 135 points and i plan on using them as flankers for the most part i wont send them on suicide charges unless they have some sort of chance. I know i need to be careful for those blocks of infantry.

I was agreeing that the Armor of Eternal Servitude is a nice, cheaper alternative to the Armor of Destiny since you'd save 15 points and get the same 4+ save effect against most attacks. However, there are quite a few character-targetting spells that ignore regeneration but do not ignore a ward save. That part would just depend on your local players and their methods of dealing with BSBs and such.

You do realize that when you make a Master into a BSB, he can't take any other magic items, right? He gets to carry a magic banner of no points limit, but can take no other magic items. Check the little box on the bottom left of page 93.

It actually says," but, if he carries a magic banner THEN he cannot carry any other magic items". I am not giving him a magic standard so all is okay.

Another kinda abstract thing to consider is to keep a list pretty friendly at that points level. An optimized Level 4 Lord may be a bit much in that size game depending on your group.

Just a thought.
