I think it's just the fact that the face they chose for the initial reveal was sculpted like a screaming potato, and then the Eavy Metal painter started highlighting every single wrinkle and skin fold on it, until someone presumably wrestled the paintbrush out of their hands.

Has none of the LoV heard of wearing a helmet? Of all the LoV shown, and discounting the Ironkyn, only one I think has been shown with a helmet on. Even if some of them may have genetically engineered dermal plating, having an additional layer of protection with a helmet probably would still help.

Eh, same could be said of marines really. Or Hollywood for that matter. Showing faces off is just good for marketing. Personally I think it's silly and I would prefer my mooks to have their faces or scalps covered at least, but that's how it is.

From my personal experience, it seems like kits generally have enough helmets to equip the entire squad with a few options, and also a few unhelmeted ones.

The fact Votann units shown off thus far seem to be never wearing actually any helmets makes me worried about the actual quantity of the helmets in their kits - it seems like you'll get enough heads for everyone and maybe two or three helmets, unfortunately.

That's a reasonable concern. There should be an option to give everyone helmets, yes.
Hopefully it's just the marketing being gits and wanting everyone to see the shameful lack of beards on their not-dwarfs.

I don't know about squat anatomy, but seeing as they are derived from humans I'm not sure his hairy bear would be on his face

Clearly the only sensible option is to put another decorative beard on top of the helmet.

I'm guessing GW is trying not to make LoV "Kharadron Overlords in SPACE," which probably limits them on helmets that look like metal dwarf faces

Irondrakes have other dwarffy element besides beard though. They look more squats even without head than the LOV models do.

I suspect that's the case for the most part. We have no way of knowing at this point, but GW is usually pretty good with head option. I expect the armored Squats to have helmets for the whole squad. Berserkers can't be bothered to wear shirts. I doubt they can be bothered to wear helmets.

I don't see the trikes getting any helmets with how they have a different aesthetic. It wouldn't necessarily require a different design to the dome helmets the armored Squats have since they still seem to have chest armor with a collar, but those helmets would probably go against that prospector leather look they got going and hoods and caps is all we'll get.

Wasn't there a small bit of info that inferred that the Demiurg were considered alien because they were Votann that had used adaptations that gave them the head ridges... so outsiders considered them a different race because they didn't look like the Imperial Squats that they had previously encountered (like those on Necromunda, for example)?

Technically, they've ret-conned the Demiurg into an off-shoot of the Votann... a Demiurg guild, if you like?

Kind of. Ish.

The inference is still mostly community based, but put together from GW’s releases.

For instance, it’s confirmed Ion Technology was sold/traded/gifted to the Tau by the Votann, and the Imperium isn’t likely to be happy if it ever found out.

And we’ve seen one head sculpt with head bumps similar to the Demiurg concept sketch.

It remains inference for now, but it’s pretty well supported. What we may never find out is whether Demiurg are an offshoot like the Necromundan Squats, and so a sub-society of Votann from a while ago, or a disguise adopted for opportunistic trading etc.

Also folks complained with the Kharadrons that the metal beards weren't proper beards and that there were no helmet less options.
That said I think there will be options for the full squads to take helmets and they will be mostly swapable across the range. I don't think we have seen all the options yet for the different squads - guessing that will come with the full reveal at Nova.

I'm really not so sure - newer GW kits rarely come with enough heads to equip the entire squad twice over. For a ten-man squad you get around 15 heads in the box nowadays

The Battle Sisters squad and the Corsair Voidscarred come with over 20 heads though, so there's a chance.

This is a multipart kit with options for heads, weapons, and equipment, so you can tailor your commander to a particular battlefield role. We can’t say exactly what all the weapons do yet – but a volkite-and-power-fist combo can’t be bad.

I actually don’t hate this new minis. I might even like it. The helmeted version looks about 2000% better because you can see his stupid dwarf face and actually looks quite cool.

I do think that I would have preferred squats to have been a new xenos faction, and they look so much better when they have full face helmets. I’ve no intention of ever deliberately buying any, but if I’m cajoled into get some against my will (such as by putting them in one of this season’s Kill Team boxes), I think helmets for everyone is the way to go.

Overall, I think I quite like this one.
