I am currently planing a chaos army 1k. Going to focus it around 1k sons.
list:
sorcerer
mark of tz
doom bolt
gift of chaos
demonic mount

5 raptors1 champ w/lightning claws
2 melta

2 squads of
8 1k sons
1 sorc
gift of chaos

At 1k I think it will do decent, the raptors will accompany the sorc to soak up wounds and pop tanks. This list is mainly for fun, i like the dea of firing three gifts a round, hopefully turning 1 or 2 squad leaders or an hq into a chaos spawn and instantly tye up their squad with their own squad leader. Any major flaws in the list? I built it to be fun but I'd like to not have my handed to me.

I think you should change the Raptor champ to have a PF, gives you about 2 kills in each round of combat and lets you take on a variety of targets.
IDK if gift of chaos works for you, and I've never tried it, but I think you could use a better power. And since you're sticking him in a cc/tank hunting squad Warptime and/or Bolt of Tzeentch might be a better fit.
Lastly your dust bunny squads suck in cc so having gift on them might not be such a good idea (it has a 6" range). My advise would be Wind, and adding havoc launchers on the Rhino. Both are template weapons, which you don't have now, and you're gonna run into some horde armies. Wind is just a great power in general, IMHO.

I just started a 1K sons army at 1500pts and like you i wanted to use gift of chaos but you can only use it at 6 inches, why not replace the sorcere with a DP with the mark of Tzneech and wings.
