Here is my first shot at a nids list:

HQ:
Tervigon 160
Elites:
Venomthrope brood (2) 110
Lictor brood (1) 65
Hive guard brood (3) 150

Troops:
Tyranid warrior brood (3) 90
pair of boneswords 30
Tyranid warrior brood (3) 90
pair of boneswords 30
Termagant brood (10) 50
Termagant brood (10) 50
Tervigon 160
Tervigon 160

Fast Attack:
Ravener brood (4) 120
4x rending claws 20
Ravener brood (3) 90
3x rending claws 15

Heavy support:
Tyrannofex 250
Rapture cannon 15
Biovore brood (2) 90
Biovore brood (2) 90

Total: 1835
The idea is to leave the biovores, trannofex, and trygons back a little letting the spawned guants and one of the Termagant squads go up with the warriors and raveners into CC ASAP. The Venomthrope will provide cover for the big guys, the lictor will pop up shoot some stuff and generally be a nuisance, and the hive guard will be between the front line and the big guys who will slowly make their way into CC by about turn 4.

So what do you think?... please be honest as I am looking to trade for these models if the list isn't too bad.

With 15 points left you can give all your tervs scythes. Also they should have cluster spines. Lictor wont do much. I would drop him and a unit of warriors to get a podded zoanthrop brood for additional AV14 popping ability. Probably should combine the raveners together.

I run into a lot of SW armies so I am not very enamored with zoanthrops, stupid anti-psykers, though looking at it I may do just that and the lictor is a good concept but i doubt as you said it would do much. Thanks for the advice.

No lictor there awful great on paper just don't do anything.
Drop one or both of the bivores as the majority of armies are in tanks at the beggining off the game and by the time you pop them your tyranids will be too close for you to saftely use the template.
Add another phycic power to the tervigons , catalyst fnp is really useful to keep stuf alive.

Yea I wasn't sure about the biovores, though I am an IG player so anything with a large blast template looks good to me though the ap and strength are lack, thanks. I will definitely give them catalyst didn't even see that ability.

So should I add more hive guard, more Raveners, or what?

I'm not a huge fan of the T-Fex. While the cannon is pretty good, its a lot of points to only have two shots at a BS of 3. I'd drop it and toss in another Trygon. Three Trygons is pretty tough to deal with.

Ok I dropped it and added a trygon, combined the Venomthropes again, and added a hive guard splitting them up into 2 squads of 2. Now I have 5 pts left over but the list looks good to me what do you all think?

Ok so about how many extra termagants should I get to cover the three tervigons?

I would just get some extra bases, play a few friendly games as a way of estimating how many you need. Mathhammer could be applied, but there are so many variables I would just play with some friends and see what happens.

Thanks I will have to do that.

i would drop a trygon and relpace it with malwal, there great for taking out tight place units and vechiles..... knock knock rear armour strenght 6.... plus if they cant move there removed from game... great for players that turtle up in corners.. IMO.

that is a great idea... that would really mess me up when I play my IG against nids and the ap of 2 is great. Then with the 30 extra points I can run a group of spore mines to mess with my opponent deployment and maybe kill something too.

Actually looking at it I like the trygon better yea the mawloc has a cool ability but their are some armies, especially mech ones, that that wouldn't work very well against but the trygon is good against just about anybody.
