Hi Everyone,

I have some news to share from MERCS! Our Rule Book will be available the second week of December. In celebration, we created an early purchase special for the Rule Book (http://www.mercsminis.com/store/products/mercs-rule-book-pre-sale-deal). We have also launched the updated front page with a special splash on the book pre-order deal.

If you order the book before December 12, you can purchase it at regular price and receive a FREE LIMITED EDITION CCC Incinerator figure. The only way you can get this figure is to pre-order the book from our website store. "Kat Silvestri" (the CCC Incinerator) is being sculpted by Tom Mason.

The figure is only available while supplies last. On December 12, the pre-sale special will be removed and replaced with the basic Rule Book store entry (for the same price, but no cool LE figure). So you better get your order on!

Here is some info on the book:

For beginners and advanced players, the MERCS Rule Book is extremely easy to read, with in-game examples, clearly labeled high resolution photos, and sidebars for expanded explanations on difficult concepts. Created to make teaching and looking up questions easier, the quick reference sidebar provides an easy way to find the answers you’re looking for fast!

Complete breakdown of CCC, KemVar, USCR, and FCC. Find out everything you need to know about your faction and determine the strengths and weaknesses of your adversaries.

Spot UV varnishing on a hard gloss lamination cover
176 four color pages on 157 gsm matte art paper
Case bound, Smyth sewn
Over 100 artist illustrations
221 full color photos!

Stop over and check us out!

Fantastic! I'm quite excited to take a look at this. I was bummed I didn't have time at Gen Con to get a demo.

Anybody know more specifics about the game? I would love a real alternative to 40K.

I've been keeping my eye on these minis and this game for sometime. I'm still having a hard time figuring how the game plays, what the different factions are like, etc. What kind of terrain would be best (in my mind it would work great with industrial towers)
There needs to be a little more info on the website.

It is small scale skirmish and uses these little tools for everything. It is hard to explain without a picture. There is unlimited range on weapons, you just need line of sight. I think it is assumed that the range in which things happen is close enough that you don't have to worry about the bullets from a chain cannon or assault rifle losing momentum and not reaching the target.

Oh, that's refreshing. A little bit of range reality sounds nice.

How does the action sequence work? I-go-you-go, action-point-activated, random initiative, or...?

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

These are good questions.

Here's some more:

-How many models per side are generally used?
-Is there campaign progression, exp. leveling? or is every battle one off?
-What kind of terrain is this game designed for? 2d maps or total 3d terrain?
-If this game had to be compared to another game what would it bee? Necromunda, malifaux, something else?
-How do the factions break down? It seems like the USCR looks to be the "brutal role, the kemvar are the fast scalpel adn the CCC the middle ground but this is going only on assumptions based on the asthetic the models create.

$35 is a good price point for a rulebook, the models look great, its in a setting that's interesting to me, but i'm gonna need more to get my gaming group excited about this game and the website doesn't offer much.

Its an awsome game, NJ Gamer was Demoing it at the Warstore Weekend, it was a huge sucess.

A standard game is 5 models, the models have no point value, but in a standard game you can only use one of each type of model.

The same as any other 28mm skirmash game, its played on a 2' by 3' table.

Its a skirmish game, all the stats for your models are printed on cards, you also use them for movement.

I am kind of interested, but I didn't get a chance to look through the PDF rules. I like the CCC and KemVar models. The FCC look alright, but I am SO disappointed with the USCR...I had high hope for those and I am not a fan with how they turned out. If I were to jump on the games, I would most likely go with CCC and KemVar.

Can anyone else chime in to how it plays? Experiences? Thoughts? Thanks!

Me and a couple friends picked up factions at GenCon, the minis are fantastic! It takes about 1/2 hour to get a game in once you get used to the rules and its a pretty simple game to play with some good tatical choices. Looking forward to the book!

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

@keithloweart: Are there any UK retailers doing the preorder deal if not what are your international postage costs? I'd love to get the Ltd Ed model if I can and want to know if I can afford it.

Hey just wanted to drop a quick line that rulebook pre-order is quickly coming to a close. The rulebook with the LE figure will only be available until December 13th @ 12AM EST. After that, we'll begin regular sale of the rulebook - but without the exclusive fig!

Tom has posted finished photos of the LE figure in the forums. You can also catch a glimpse of it now on the front page.

This is the only chance to get this deal, so if you've been on the fence about it, there's only a few days left

These look awesome, any word on an expected delivery time should we pre-order the rulesbook?

Also way off topic but did any of the game designers happen to live in IL, in or around Naperville? Some years back there was a guy designing a game that I remember being very simular, squad based, also called mercs and had unlimited range on wepaons, demo-ed it on a pool table at Cipher games.
