Hi all,

Plastic Dwarven Berserkers preview

The Dwarven Berserkers set will contain 60 different pieces to pose and personalize the miniatures. Also, all pieces are interchangeable, in order to offer a lot of possibilities when putting together your regiment.

We will put together a number of videos (with images it is impossible to reflect well all options for the set) to illustrate the different possibilities when putting together the miniatures.

Here is the first vid (excuse the quality, but it is the first video we have recorded ):

I really hope you like it!

According to them

As I already commented the plastic sets will be available in two formats:
Regiment boxed set (20 to 24 minis, depending on the troop type) at 25EUR
Horde boxed set (32 to 26 minis, depending on the troop type) at 35EUR

And damn what a quality of sculpts.
So sad Berserkerarmylist from storm of chaos is no more, it was a fun one to play.

Unless you're a die hard tourney player or a GW commando raided your house and burnt all SoC copies you had I see no reason not to do a Slayer army with apparently very nice sculpts.

Really nice looking! I love the look of that axe in his left hand.

His ax? That sounds dumb as hell

So Dwarfs are the first of AoW's plastics. Not astonishing. I expect Orcs to be the second race, have the most heroes next to Dwarfs.
Nice one. But how can I fit 24 Slayers into an army

Gathering the Informations.

I wouldn't say "the most heroes" is why Dwarves/Dwarfs are first.

I'd say it's more because of the disappointment expressed by Fantasy players in the 'official' Dwarf models available.

Why not get in on the action when there's no real competition?

But on that note, I am so buying these when they come out. Berserker Dwarves/Dwarfs are always the most fun things to paint.

Because 'ax' is the American spelling, and 'axe' is the real spelling, and Google Chrome is an American program.

I think plastic chaos dwarfs would be awesome. Maybe not next, but somewhere down the line...

I'm going to get 3 boxes I think, 2 for slayers and 1 to use as skaven slaves.

It can't be far off. So much of AoW stuff looks like GW stuff because of Gibbons' influence, so other 'alternate' regiments can't be far off. And that's a good thing. The more of Gibbons' work that comes to life in miniature form, the better.

As an aside, what's the deal with them doing plastic regiments in the first place?

As I understand it, Avatars of War is a gladatorial game (hence "Arena Deathmatch"). Are they expanding into a full-blown war game/skirmish game, or is this to spice up the arena fighting?

It may just be so you can have a variety of choices for specific "archetypes".

They just end up with a potential usage in GW games as a "happy coincidence"!

Say, it appears that the 'hawk is a separate piece you glue to the head. Haven't seen that before.

But, these look VERY good for plastic kits.

Very cool looking. Shame I don't play fantasy. Although some Marauder-type set from AoW might do it for me. Or maybe just be a good base for Chaos Cultists for sci-fi games. Also daemons, especially nurglish ones would be great as well to fill the holes in GWs model line for Chaos stuff.

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

Peope were demanding troops for those awesome AoW heroes, and Mantic proved that there is a market for plastic alternative troops. Guess some rules will follow.
He could always ask Rick, Alessio or Andy to do it, right?

I thought so as well then I remembered that the first AoW fig was a Slayer as well, guess it's a pattern.

Nice, will be interesting to see the quality of the plastics. I love the metals they produce.

I think doing team gladatorial combat is the way forwards for AoW.

Good from a business sense, but also good from a gaming sense.
