I though last we heard it was shelved. FW was told early on by GW that 8th was coming out in a few years so FW held off finishing it. FW focused on HH, Necromunda, Blood Bowl, Titanicus, and other stuff. Never heard if it was back on and being updated for 8th though.

FW isn't doing Necromunda, Blood Bowl or Titanicus. That's Specialist Games. FW is a department under Specialist games that does HH and Imperial Armour mainly, plus some special minis for other games (star players for Blood Bowl etc). They don't do the games themselves though.
OH FFS , yes, if you want to start splitting hairs and get into the bloody minutia of it all, Specialist games falls under the GW umbrella which contains FW too. However, such statements as "Forge World Open Day is always a popular and buzzing day, with members of the Forge World Specialist Games" would indicate FW & SG are lumped together (I don't even care who is the dominant one, doesn't matter). So, for simplicity sake, most people just lump them in as FW...

As far as FoC, I also recall (as pointed out above in another post), besides the change into 8th, that with the passing of Alan of FW, that the FoC was also part of the reason it was shelved...

Specialst Games also had a number of staff hired on just to work on them instead of dragging everyone off of Forgewold projects, it was at least meant to be set up as a separate team.

Apparently Dorn is nearly completed, and Alpharius is well in the works.

Yep Simon Eagan is pretty much just doing Primarchs at the moment, there isn't anyone else doing them from what I can gather.
Apparently there's been talk of Alpharius for a while now (since Book 3 came out really) about how exactly he should be done in his model form, and just how much of his ability to blend in with his rank and file legionnaires should be included. It sounds like they're going full Pythean Scales for his model, and will be keeping him more in line with the size of Lorgar and Kurze rather than making him really short. Rob actually put up a good point that maybe Alpharius is able to look more like his regular guys isn't by actually donning plain armour and stooping a bit, but maybe he has a refractor that can 'shrink' his proportions slightly giving the appearance he's more in Astartes scale. Not something I thought of before, but actually sounds really cool.

Thank goodness for this!

I'd guess before then. And the model will probably happen, just because they sell.

Cyraxis will probably happen too, eventually. I'm not nearly as confident about future HH books beyond book 8.

HAH! Its ok, I have essentially shelved my Knights 5ever at this point.

Though honestly, I am wanting to get the Khan too. Really sad he will be the dead last Primarch they make, no doubt. Ironically channeling his fluff in the process (Khan who?).

Well by the time he's out and with the growing base sizes, he will be riding his motorcycle on a bridge that is riding over the top of an Imperator Titan, so start saving your monies.

No need to be rude. My point is they're separate teams with separate staff, so FW don't "focus on HH, Necromunda, Blood Bowl, Titanicus" since those are made by other people (except HH obviously). Which means it shouldn't impact their ability to finish FoC.

If he is, ill buy one even though painting white is cancer.

I'm really keen to understand how they are going to handle Khan and his bike, if he will somehow fit onto his larger base (that all the currently released Primarchs come with) that is his bike or if it will be a separate model, similar to how Russ's Wolves were modeled? I really can't see FW only having Khan on the bike and not having an on foot version as well.

I imagine it will be like how you can take Lorgar or Lorgar Ascended, or Corax during Istvaan V. And then probably 2 models.

A think a bigger issue is that a rerelease shouldn't really be the only thing out in a release... But still, since they committed to a weekly schedule, guess you gotta fill those 52 slots somehow.

Nice to see it re-released. Now if only they'd do the same with MK IV dreads and some of their weapon options...

Rogue Idol is a gorgeous kit.

Used to have one, but sold it when cash was scarce and rent needed paying.

Very tempted to get a new one, but that will lead to Bonesplitterz....and with Necromunda coming up in November, I'm tempted to save my pennies for now so I can get the game and decent terrain selections for it!

Looks like Forgeworld are in a bit of flux. With the loss of Alan Bligh, I think there's a bit of a rethink in how they do things. Lifted from Carlisimo from B&C:

The Geno Five-Two podcast managed to speak to a bunch of FW people at that event this weekend.

-Tony Cottrell says the target date for Angelus is end-of-year 2018. They're stretched thin and want to catch up.
-When Inferno got delayed and still ended up messy, largely due to Alan Bligh doing too much himself while in treatment, FW realized they needed multiple main HH writers. John French may be one of the HH-assigned writers but they are still looking for another one.
-No more releasing a black book without plans to release all the associated models shortly thereafter (which could mean within a year). They are now mapping out all their releases a year in advance, rather than their previous ad hoc approach.
-GW wants to control release previews - they'll be on the Warhammer Community site rather than first seen at FW events.
-They're planning around one new Specialist Game per year (hence being stretched thin). Necromunda this November, Titanicus next year.
-Necromunda will be more detailed than the original, and based on 8th edition rules with alternate activations. No real examples of that complexity other than extra skills tables. Like Blood Bowl, two plastic gangs in the box and resin expansions.
>They haven't started BFG 2.0 but Tony Cottrell would like to theme it on the battle above Terra and eventually work xenos fleets into the game system.
>There's a possibility that they'll revisit the red books in the near future.

Bolded above - that'll sink the Forgeworld events somewhat. What's the point of them if there are no previews. Probably explains why we didn't see much new shown.

That is so sad if it's true. It's like when the main line GW studio saw how well BL was doing and folded it into the main studio...and fethed everything up for about 2 years. They are just pulling themselves out of that mess. Authors didn't want to work with them anymore. Laurie Goulding left, what a mess that was. I wish that they would of learned from that and just leave Tony and the boys alone to do their own thing like they mostly have for the last 16 years.

Forgeworld knows what they are doing, they don't need any 'help' from the main line studio and management. They should know this and you would think with Kevin at the helm now he would know better then to let the middle management get their grubby mits onto the golden goose.

I can't see Angelus being delayed until the end of 2018, they can't keep making that many space marine legion shoulder pads, torso's, helmets and variant weapons to fit onto Sicarians.

BFG 2.0 could be amazing, really amazing. The battle for terra IN SPACE!!. I would defiantly dig that although I would hope that epic would come out first so you could actually play part of storming the Imperial Palaces walls in model form. That would be a cool campaign tho; Horus's fleets coming into the solar system and having to 'take' so many different places so you can actually deploy your troops onto Terra (BFG). Then huge armies battling out to secure the beach heads on the ground, such as taking space ports, taking out orbital defenses and launch facilities ( epic) then having to breach the imperial palaces walls ( apoc/30k Age of darkness rules) then making your way to open the gates or secure the breach in the wall (40k), then having spec-op teams try to make their way to the throne room to disable the golden throne so the webway opens and the daemons can help your forces out ( necromunda). That could be a really neat campaign.

Out of all the non-marine, Orky models that could have been released, I have to say the rogue idol is a bit crap. I feel like virtually anyone can scratchbuild one with with a bit of greenstuff and a handfull of gravel.

sigh.
