I might try to get a 2v2 game together if I can some friends interested after Christmas.. I'll be playing Skaven and I want to ally with Lizardmen (Yes I realize they are arch enemies, lol). I would likely be playing against WoC or WEs + another army.

I got:

Island Of Blood
Skaven army battalion
Grey Seer on Screaming Bell
40 (IoB+20) Plague Monks ( 40 total)

So I could use any of that for a list.

Ally would have :

Lizard Bat x 2 =

2 units of 20 Saurus Warriors
2 units of 12 Skinks
1 unit of 20 Temple Guard
2 units of 8 Saurus Calvary

plus a skink priest and likely a converted melee hero.

anyways list wont matter for now I suppose. Just wondering if you guys got some tactical advice for Skaven + Lizard 2v2 using some of the units posted above. I was thinking his Calv could be a hammer, while maybe the slaves make the anvil? Some feedback would rock

Ehhhh Lizardmen cav arent really the best unfortunately. But you are right your slaves will be very useful. A few 50 man slave blocks can tie up enemies then you can dakka them up with blowpipes and then get some flank charges with saurus. Remember that you are mainly expendable fodder with exceptions like ogres while he has the expensive core

You will likely be distrustful in 1 turn, so you end up with having to share magic dice equally, treat "friendly" as DT if you flee through them, etc.

This assumes the games are using the ally rules in the BRB of course...

The distrustful thing for skaven and dark elves is stupid, IMO. Sure, it's fluffy, but it basically says "You picked these two armies? Pft, ef you."

Yea because those armies need allies so badly to be good.

Not my point. It provides a mechanical disincentive to play certain armies, all in the name of "fluff".

Imagine a 2v2 game pitting High Elves + Empire against Chaos + Vampire Counts. Both sides have the same set of rules governing their alliance. Now switch the VC player to a Skaven or Dark Elf player, and all of a sudden the Disorder forces have a significant disadvantage in the magic phase, as they are required to split dice evenly for dispelling purposes, but can't dispel for each other. Meanwhile the Order players are free to dump all their dice on the Tecli- I mean, High Elf, player. It creates a lop sided effect that can seriously impact a game, all because someone liked the way Skaven or Dark Elf play.

There's a place for fluff. This isn't it.

As a tactical suggestion for skaven+lizardmen, try to keep the Saurus in front of any important skaven stuff, it would be good to bring along some artillery, batter the opponents while mostly letting them come to you, tying them up with Saurus then bringing the fast clanrats around to flank.

and I agree about the saurus cavalry, I played a game on saturday where 8 of them were taken out by 20 clanrats and an assasin/warlord distraction.

2000pts of beasty boys
1000pt rat pack - Clan Cozen
1000pt Savage Waagh
1500pt

Oh wow thats too bad about the calv lol. They look good on paper with their high amount of attacks + good all round stats =/ Yeah it would be using the rulebook rules for allies. Eh I dont mind the distrust so much. It adds some flavor to the game. I mean it's realistic that my Seer is going to order the Lizardmen to be slain after he wins the battle, or visa versa possibly?. I quite like the idea of slaves being useful for this. I agree some ranged skaven units will very much boost the lizards which dont seem to have any. It will be interesting to see what I can bring as I dont have many skaven units but I could buy something. The power dice sharing will be hectic but I think the priest's lore of heavens might help skaven use attrition.

A cool thing you can do after the game is over, is if your team wins you continue playing out what happens after the two armies turn on each other for a few turns.
