If this has a smidgen of truth to it, that would double their current line.
If this happens, I would be genuinely surprised if they didn't add back in the old paints they removed (Tentacle, terracotta, fiery orange/ blazing orange (can't remember, lol)).

Sorry aint going to happen, its not that the source will get in trouble its who told hm. But honestly believe it or dont, its no skin off my nose, time will tell if correct of not
Yes its a doubling of the range and they are sending out extra paint racks to retailers to hold the extra product, as well as new box and racking that is the same as GW retail shops. they are also going to give lgs credits for products to use as prizes and demo/display stock. This is based on the lines (forgot the terminology they use) basically there will be a supplier range which has the top 50 selling products and half the paint range. There will be a hobbiest range that has supplies plus most of the other products plus rest of the paint range. A third one for direct order and some weird ass 4th one I didn't understand

Hmmm. Why then have retailers sell down on the current range if they are just adding to it? Repackaging/rebranding of the pots? I'm very much hoping it's not another paint rack added to what I have. The current one is 1/2 useless. The bottom 3rd isn't used at all, as it holds the sprays. Too low, and many states don't allow you to have sprays loose on the shelf. The top 1/3 is half useless, and it's ineffiecient, and a lot of the things it was mean't to hold don't really fit well. A second rack of the same size will take some re-arrangement of fixtures to fit in, and the bottom 3rd will be useless again.

As I said I dont know what colors or format they are coming in except that it will be 144 paints in the range. The paint racks currently are modular and the only issue is the top is designed for the tubs which have been repaced with the new rectangular box. All it would take is a slight change to top and option different bottom for shops not wanting the sprays on the floor as the racks I have seen are able to pad lock the sprays for security or legal standing.
I guess that will be made to complement the current rack for shops going for the full range of new paints

Quick note I have heard 2 number 144 and 152. So it should be one of those
This sounds believable. Another poster on Warseer said the same:
Romanus wrote:Hey Guys, just to chime in, the paint range is being increased to around 150 paints (147 was the number I heard), coming out in April, other rumblings on a store level but want bore you with any of that.
straightsilver wrote:I have heard that the new Citadel Paints will be the high density pigment variety, so very similar to the current line of P3 paints.
They have a much better coverage over black undercoat and the colours are more vibrant, especially on reds and yellows.
I suppose they could be considered halfway between a foundation paint and the current ones.
It looks like the pots they come in are pretty much staying the same though, which is unfortunate as they tend to dry out very quickly.
I have heard a rumour that there is also a more cynical reason for re-releaseing the paints with different names, but I guess most of us have already worked that out....
So here my personal guess of what is behind all those rumours:
1.) New paints released in April (not March), preorders end of March. Information to FLGS end of March.
2.) Current colour range will roughly stay the same, but quality, formula and names will change due to a new manufacturer. Pots will probably stay the same. This range corresponds to "GW stockist outlet" module #2 .
3.) New colours will be released, pushing the total to around 150. There will be subcategories like foundation, layering, washes. Having this extended range of paints corresponds to the ""GW Stockist Outlet" module #5.

First - One tidbit rumor that I heard from my Independent Retailer - Some Inks may be returning. I can not verify that one, and since mikhaila hasn't mentioned it I do not know if it is real or a Trade Sales guy speculating or what. But the retailer was pretty convinced it was happening.
Second - I'd have to think new racks would have to be included in any major re-release. The big clunky racks don't work well...paint is too low, and the sprays are crazy low. And for all of the other reasons that have been mentioned before. Not too many counter displays that I have seen actually place product that close to the ground....for a REASON! But I do think the current racks allowed GW to sell to a bunch of "range 2" guys who only fill out their little order sheets and restock. It was an easy to sell, easy to send and small space on the store floor item for these types of store. I'd think that a full-line store would want an entirely different line-up....including a rack that placed the paints UP so you don't have to get down on hands and knees to make sure you are getting the right color (and please include strips that line up and stay in place so you don't grab the wrong color....)
But here is hoping the Inks are part of that 152 range (maybe 144 colors (foundation, base, layer, washes) and 8 inks?)

I don't think I truly grasped how large of a range that is. GW makes 73 colors, according to my mega paint set.
If they doubled the range, they could not only bring back all the colors they removed, including the inks, but they could add a mix for popular combinations people use (ie, a salamanders green (snot and DA green) a Khorne red (Red Gore and Blood red), and things like that. That would save a lot of time for certain painters who need to mix huge portions to basecoat tanks and stuff.
Plus, they could expand the washes range a bit (yellow wash, maybe? Orange Wash? Lime green wash), which would give painters more options. If this middle-range thing is true, they could thicken certain light paints (Golden yellow and blazing orange come to mind), which would really help in coverage.
If they're really releasing that many paints, I can imagine their model is to minimize mixing, and increase artistic options for the casual painter. Sounds good to me, although I hope the MPS doesn't cost 500 dollars, lol.

My brain keeps going "Foundation, Base, Layer, Wash = 4, 144/4 = 36 colors" Because making 'pre-thinned' foundations and calling it layer is totally a GW move.

Sounds like you have read the documents, I got a chance to read last night while out having a few drinks So I may have some details wrong due to booze
Basically
Module one which is a display rack will be instore march (compulsory for all GW and locals) top 50 boxes from all 3 ranges
Module 2 which is HALF the paint range will be april 7th pretty much all the existing colors renamed
Module 3 white dwarf and new releases.
Module 4 Direct which I dont think will be noticable to the public will be may
module 5 which is other half of the paint range bringing it up to the 144(ish) has no release date atm
Biggest bonus for retailers will that you are limited when it comes to limited release ie space hulk, you get as many as want with in reason. thats attached to one of modules (number 3 I think)

Module One does not include a paint rack. The three hobby supplies in Module One are the Hobby Starter Set, the Small Figure Case, and the Paint Station (the plastic lap/desktop tray). This is based on the info sent to US Independent Retailers by the Trade Account Reps at GW.

GW stores in UK have recently remerchandised and according to my local they were told they MUST have 2 bays free to put paints in.
That's quite a lot of paints...

Never said it did contain the paint rack. It contains the big box racking units which will hold the basic 50 boxs that are standard GW shop fit. Initially you will use the standard GW paint rack, an add on unit will be made available for the expanded paint range later

With each module you qualify for a free GW rack for the relevant products. Neither the taking of modules nor racks are compulsory for FLGSs.
Module 1 also includes the three paint sets for the three systems.
BTW module 4 is a list of 200-220 products, so the big brother of module 1.
Limited items are offered first to the stores with all 5 modules etc.

Damn that Hobbit movie!!!
Yeah, it's annoying as all hell, and a financial headache as well. I'm looking a 1k to 3k in expenses I think. Hell of an item to not know how to budget for. Or make space for. I have racking that I designed to fit around the GW rack. Not messing with it until it's confirmed there is a second rack.

Just saw the product list at my game store (not gw)
here's what I remember (...) oh and something to do with paints, which i didn't look at
(...)
checked the list (...) 2x Glue
(...)
This was the list the store owner got from GW today.
The list of what he can order for next month.
There were no pics, I just had a 15 min. coffebreak to get to the store and back.
There were other customers at the registers so I could nog bugger him for more information or pics.
(probably no pics)
(...)
No, sorry I mistook the glue for the paints (Nid fixation will do that)
I think it was just superglue and plasticglue, maybe repackaged?
So to be absolutely clear, I saw No paints on the list
So if this is true, no paints in March, as I assumed.
As per a conversation with my rep, Module 2 will be the paint line, plus other hobby tools. The starter set paint kits and the Hobby Starter Set are part of Module 1. He did not discuss in detail the remaining modules, but indicated that they would be books and models. The gist of the conversation was the revised paint line would not be available here in USA until April.

I really miss GW inks. I hope they come back. Washes are a pale comparison. Nothing but watered down paint that you can make yourself with a tiny bit of acrylic flow improver.
Inks were beautiful on white primed models. My bloodletters with red ink and a brown wash had awesome texture and were super easy to paint. I am using reaper master series inks now, but they are darker than the old GW inks.
