Yeah I know that everything that I could buy at GenCon was available on the webstore, but I didn't know about the Nightmare trees...
The only problem one has to deal with is the slowness of the Wyrd shipping issues that always plague them post GenCon.

Edit: For anyone interested, that's the nightmare version, which means that Tara will have a regular release in case you don't like what you see. There are also previews of her rules in the latest Wyrd Chronicles (Issue 7)
The "nightmare" version kind of just seems an excuse to jack up the price. There's nothing "nightmare"-ish about it. Its the basic artwork in the book. This is the standard version, but just has the "nightmare" tag slapped on it. At some point down the line they'll do another one, but if you dont want to proxie her for a year or two, you need to shell out extra now. Meh.
The models look good though I would never have pegged Tara as female from the art alone.

Yeah, I'm a little confused about why this is a Nightmare Edition. They have usually been big versions of or unique takes on pre-existing stuff. This seems like a pretty standard crew. It looks nice, but not particularly Nightmare Edition quality.

Are you often having nightmares about trees, Alf? Care to share?
I was under the impression that tooling for plastic models was costly. Why make those kits limited? It seems like a poor return on investment.
And before anyone asks, no, I don't get why Dreamforge's exclusive models were so short lived either, especially considering the quality.

I thought the Nightmare Hanging Trees were a cool alternative to the "Hanged" models that currently exist for the Ressers, but I didn't think they were 80 dollars cool. I got a nightmare Teddy for 50 bucks, Nightmare Chompy is like 100 dollars and is worth it for it's collectability and size. Dead Justice is also cool and worth w/e price she sells for (not on eBay ). But 80 bucks for plastic trees made go, "what?!" It was a bit of a running joke amongst my friends at GenCon. I bought over 300 dollars worth of stuff from Wyrd alone last year and I didn't think, "maybe I should grab the nightmare trees" once. I believe I'm getting it for free with my Through the Breach Pledge, but if I'm not no worries.

Well, they make 5 times as much on each nightmare box set as they do regular ones, since they cut out the take of middle man distributors/game stores. So there's that going for it.
Still seems stupid to do this as the nightmare edition. Just release it as the standard version, since its already done. Not like the xtra plastic for larger models really costs much more. The release schedule for M2 was planned pretty pooly if they are releasing the new characters over a year later, and concentrating on redoing existing models first. They said there wouldnt be a standard Tara until late 2014 at the earliest. Have they said when the brewmaster is coming out?

From Eric:
For those of you new to Wyrd, who haven't seen our previous nightmare editions, or those who have questions about our upcoming Nightmare Tara (available during Gen Con at the booth or online store), I figured I'd stick all the information in one place!
Here are the basics
Nightmare editions are our chance to do something big and fun and limited.
They never have new stat lines, but are rather alternate sculpts of a model that is, or will be, released through distribution normally.
They are usually outside what you'd expect to see in the normal line either in size (Big Teddy or Lord Chompy), or theme (Undead Justice, Miss models).
They allow us a chance to add something special to the line.
They usually are released during big conventions, like Gen Con, but will ALWAYS be available through our online store during those same dates.
This year, our nightmare edition is Tara and her crew. Here are the details. (I will continue to update this first post with all information about Tara as it's available.)
Cost: $80
Photo: Here
What you get: TWO full sprues of plastic, twice as much as a normal crew box. So yes, things are bigger and more detailed.
Other Details: Tara was originally a wave 2 model and new to Malifaux. However, since we thought she was perfect for a nightmare edition (due to the fun big nothing beast), she was promoted to a wave 1 model, and the nightmare sculpts (only) were made. Her normal sculpts are still in the production line as a wave 2 model, and as such will not be completed until late 2014 at the earliest.
http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?45839-What-is-a-Nightmare-edition
So Nightmare Tara contains twice the sprues a normal box set would have, which speaks to the size/options of the models. Automatically Appended Next Post: cincydooley wrote:I wish they'd have just redone a plastic Nightmare Chompy....

Dual faction masters can be run as either or (look at the Book 4 masters). So if you run Tara as an Outcast, you will get models that can only be hired by outcasts and then generally the models they can normally hire. Like Lynch I believe can always hire models with Brilliance (I will double check as my book isn't on me).

Yeah I guess that's my only concern... 80 bucks for a kit I might never play is the same price as to what I need to pick up the few troll items I missed over the past year for WM/H.
It's a tough decision if you play outcasts or ressers . Though if they did Pandora, Avatar of Woe (the old Pandy sculpt) in plastic I'd be sold and want it in a heartbeat (unless it was 80 bucks )

Yep, she can be run as outcast no issue. The cthulhu and little dudes are actually outcast only, so you need tot ake her upgrade to use them in ressers. This also lets you hire death marshalls (which turn from living to dead). So break out your Dead Justice box.
Old Lynch could hire a lot of stuff, not just Brilliant models (like Stiched Together in 10 thunders). new Lynch just gets "Darkened" models (basically old Brilliant models). We at least yowled enough in Beta to change it from "Chronic".

Its just the first wave, but still not terrible.
I noted they removed Through the Breach. I hope the canon game is still going on at least. My friend shelled out the $500 to be part of the games lore and be in the canon campaign event... I assume I would have heard about it if they cancelled it.

I'll have to consider the Tara box later in the con to see if its worth it.
Additionally, I'll be working for war store and am probably gonna have trouble spending my credit at their store (trying not to start anything new) so if Anyone is interested in trades, I'd be game.

It sounds like you're getting most of the stuff that isn't dual faction/takable b/c cross faction
for instance, Lucius would be out because mcmourning and lucius can both take them with
guild hounds would be out because marcus could take them
constructs would be out because leveticus can take them
Is that the idea, Justin?

Justice, Sonnia, and Perdita
Their standard crew models (family, witchling, death marshall, totems...)
Along with The Lone Marshall
Peacekeeper
Guild Guard
Austringer
Executioner
and the Gov's Proxy
You will also get the Guild specific upgrades
Guild in all is very similar to their Book 1 incarnations.
As far as I can tell
