What has actually shipped for this one?

Just the base game?

The base game + the 'upgrades'?

Have any of the expansions shipped?

This one had a lot of promise - sad to see it in the state it is in now...

I've only received the base game.
No upgrades,
No expansions.
I did not order resins, so I can't speak to that.

It is pretty disappointing.

Have you seen the VAMPIRE HUNTERS Kickstarter?

Not sure why, but I'm getting a pseudo-Journey vibe there as well...

I like it, but am hesitant to commit...

Dark Gate's Vampire Hunters?
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1900818244/vampire-hunters-0 ?
I saw the campaign, but ignored it as I'm not huge on vampires. IMO, it's worse than Journey, as they still aren't showing anything but renders 6 months after funding. At least show me 3-D prints!

I won't late pledge Vampire Hunters, but that's because I'm looking at Rising Sun & Smog - knowing that CMoN will ultimately deliver both of them.
____

On a lark, I revisit the Vampire Hunters KS - it looks like they're delayed until 2018 with print issues.

...and I just capped off my Vampires pledge.

Even if they end up pulling a Journey and only releasing the base game, I won't mind too much, as that's all I pledged for.

Then again I backed Ice Age Mammals, so what do I know?

I'd be curious what a paired down Journey would look like if it went to retail.

I'm not sure how much smaller Journey could be made for retail. I guess they'd try to shrink it to a Zombicide-sized 12" square box, with fewer Demons, and the coin instead of the spinner? But it still needs the 4 Pilgrims, the boss Monsters, the cards & dashboards. Maybe lose the generic demon organizers and the Qilin?

Is there any realistic chance this ever hits retail though?

Not likely. Where would they get the money to for a 2nd production run?

Did they ever send out or even make any of the add ons, like the soul hunters?

Nope. I'm waiting on the adds, Soul Hunters & Cleansers, and expansions. :(

They have only produced (and mostly sent) the base game and some resin versions of the heroes from the base game. They are supposedly in development of the first expansion and some add-on items including the Jiangshi. Given the costs involved, and that they seem to have run out of money, it's not looking great.

I like how they're just now starting to sculpt these guys.

Why couldn't they have started work on the sculpts months (years?) ago?

Latest updated showed off the Yau Demons as if they are something new they posted pictures of them on Facebook in March 2016 so basically they've done nothing for a year. I get that they have money issues but this shouldn't have prevented them from sculpting minis over the course of the last year even if they can't afford the molds to produce them.

The latest armature work is no more than a few days work.

I wish companies would just close the books on these projects instead of stringing it along year after year. At some point, there needs to be a hard reality check. You now have a game that was released almost 2 years ago, has no distribution/availability, so there is little point in manufacturing the expansions other than to fulfill the Kickstarter, which for most people would probably end up in the gather dust pile until the minis can be re-purposed. The Resins on the other hand; doesn't make any sense at all that these haven't been sculpted and distributed over the past few years. This was all being done in-house IIRC, so there really is no reason for them to be just getting started. Interestingly enough, I had backed this one because they were in China and figured maybe they wouldn't be plagued by the same issues that were rampant in every other KS at the time.

I stand by my thoughts that this could have been salvaged and even finished in a reasonable amount of time if they'd adopted a Kingdom Death style release.

Put out a few new resins every quarter or so, have a few resins available on their web shop at all times, and have a somewhat steady cash flow coming in while they work on getting the rest of the game out.

Ray's obviously a good sculptor, why not put those talents to use regularly and get that money back into your company? Collectors will collect nice looking models. This isn't any sort of market secret.

I'm still pining for my Kung Fu Panda Soul Cleanser.

I'm assuming this kickstarter was another lost cause, like robotech (except the robotech producer just ripped folks off compared to the creator here who has tried to be honest and upfront about the game and money).

Shame as it's a good game. All I got was my four resin heroes and the base game :(

I wouldnt write this off just yet I think they'll do everything they can to fulfil it just might take years to finish

Makes me wonder if they would do something like KD, Gloomhaven, and a few others have done- use Kickstarter to fund a reprint.

Then again I'm not sure if there's even that much demand at this point for a second printing of the game (or if they even sold through the first one).

Hell, sell some resins in the meantime. SOMETHING. A shame this one has had such a poor showing.

Glad to see they haven't given up too.

What I wish they'd do, and what I mention every time I look at one of these campaigns that's struggling later on, is why not supplement their income by releasing some new resins like Kingdom Death has continued to do?

They're great sculptors- why not flaunt it and help put some money back in their pockets?

I would agree with that. There must be people who'd pay quite a premium for those resins.

I saw this game listed as a predorder over on the Miniature Market webstore - publisher listed as Asmodee?

Is any of this for real?

They signed a deal with Edge Entertainment last August to distribute a retail version of the game.

http://www.edgeent.com/juegos/articulo/journey_la_ira_de_los_demonios/journey_la_ira_de_los_demonios

Kickstarter edition

Spoiler:

Journey has finally struck a retail deal with a distributor. Because the distributor wants to control the roll out, we can’t give too much information at the moment. To take Journey to market, we had to change the game. So now the Kickstarter box is a special version, larger in every way; it has more miniatures, quests, map tiles and cards. The smaller retail edition has exactly the same quality components and gamers may be able to buy the components we removed as expansions produced at a later date. Other than the way the components are bundled into packs, there will be nothing available to retail shoppers that backers do not have.
Once the distributor makes an announcement, we will pass on more information about the changes.

Edge is owned by Asmodee so that checks out. I guess it just took longer than expected to get it to retail. Having it available it a slightly cheaper retail vesrion should hopefully bring in more much needed funds.

They are still slowly working away on this but they are having to work on it in their spare time as they need day jobs as well.
