Really appreciate the kind comments Guys
First month of 2017 out of the way and i managed to get 10 minis painted
but Fell off the hobby budget wagons massively :(
this isn't including the bases I've ordered from waylaid, or the SLA, mantic and battle system kick-starters and added money too in the pledge manager.
re the AVP purchase got it at 60% off from chaos cards, and because it was missing a few bits its prompted promos to send me more of my KS pledge.
Enforcer Peacekeepers
Done and dusted

Really happy with how the damage on the shields has come out.
so close up
Martian Big Stompy Robot
Finished but I'm not happy with the depth of the silver. I’ll likely redo him at some point.

Very nice. I love the battle damage/blood(?) splatter on the shields. The white parts look glossier than the black-- did you add that after varnishing? I like it.

Thanks Josh
Left the black parts unvarnished and just put a good coat of gloss over the white bits. Wanted them to look like they had white iPhone cases for armour :p

Enforcers are looking really good! Blown up on screen their battle damage is a bit overdone, but imaging them tabletop-lifesized - very well done!
Stompy clean robot, in contrast, is good as clean as it is. Very neat metallic finish.

The stompy bot looks like it could use a lighter silver highlight or a dark wash of some sort. Otherwise, models look awesome.

Very well it may use it, but right now it looks like a polished or brushed steel. So, maybe drybrushing edges to a lighter shine instead?

Hi again
Had a fair few months out of the hobby, six nations, Six nations depression, Horizon zero dawn & Mass effect andromeda being a few of the Time stealers.
what have i done since my last post.
good question
I've bought stuff
I may have fallen back down the 40K wormhole hard when 8th was announced…
Put together some of my Raging heroes minis
They are a right pain in the £@£@£ to put together
Did very little painting, current Wip pile
and
All I've finished are some boxes
and Touched up my “True” Scale Deathwatch Chaplain Cassius
new base.
“Suffer not the Xenos!”
Needless to say my hobby plans for this year are massively out the window.
And as the girlfriend has noticed I'm buying stuff but not painting i need help staying motivated and painting what I've got otherwise I'm heading towards a disapproving look off next time i buy something.
Please drop a comment to keep a dude motivated, stop me buying anything for a while or give some constructive criticism to make a dude better
Thanks for looking

“True” Scale vs Primaris
DISCLAIMER: Please note the reference to true scale marines is my personal preference and interpretation and not a statement on your marines not being good/correct or a demand that all people must do what I and others have done.
As mentioned in the OP, for me Space marine miniatures need to be at least a taller than normal people (guard, skittari etc) by about a head, the classic “true” scaling method gives me this and makes me happy .
In short there’s no need to get angry or salty
With that out of the way
WELCOME LADY’S AND GENTLEMEN
Standing in the Blue corner the “True” Scale marine
Standing in the Grey corner the young upstart Primaris marine
Round 1
Comparison!!!
The Primaris Marine is 38mm tall the True Scale Marine also 38mm both measurements foot to top of head the True scale seems a bit bigger because of the higher base.
Round 2
Family Pic
Heights in MM (foot to top of head) from left to right
38mm, 38mm, 37mm, 39mm, 38mm, 39mm
“I thought you were supposed to be taller?”
Pretty good match in my opinion and I'm so Happy
For me Primaris marines are just what Marines should be in minis size and the rules. (The old rules i used to use for the true scale marines were each single marine counts as 2 and the primaris are really close to this)
Not a fan of the fluff for the Primaris but I can see that there would be a need from GW to not just release the new marines that are taller without any background explanation.
Finally I can now look at a new Marine kit and not immediately start thinking about how i can scale it up.

Your truescales are excellent, wonderful work, and nice comparison shots.
Oh and surely you will have to "Truescale" the Primaris Marines, since they are meant to be bigger and better again than normal Truescale marines!?

Nice to have you back Joe .
Very nice clean work as usual with all the 40k containers and boxes. I don't imagine them actually being sent anywhere as the imperial post system would not want to get their grimey hands all over them.
Cassius is a proper bad .

Are the DI Death guard Truescale??
“Are the Death guard in Dark Imperium “true” scale”
As mentioned above for me True scale is being “Tru” scale means being a head taller than a normal human miniature.
Not including horns etc some of the upright ones are 37mm tall
bell dude = 37.5mm tall armless dude is 36.5mm
so yes and no
Some will need to be made bigger slightly bigger, to fit with the primaries and my other true scales better.
Heres a few of the death guard I'm making a bit bigger along with those that hit the 37/38mm target compared to the original Comparison Minis.
Heights from Left to right (additional MM added)
38mm, 38mm, 38mm, 37.5mm, 38mm
And with that and a photobucket apocalypse this thread dies to be reborn here......

They look good to me, Joe. Remember, though - that not all men are the same height, and even after genetic conditioning to become an Astartes, these brave boys have had roughly 10,000 years (depending on how much time they've spent in and out of the warp) worth of individual mutation/Nurgle's blessings, so some height variation makes perfect sense for the DG.
