I liked that Lorraine kit when I saw it on ebay and your work here is convincing me that I 'need' one! Nice finds with the GI Joe bits also- the radio/vox is a natural, but I wouldn't have thought to make a crew served weapon out of a shoulder-fired- I'm stealing that. I've got the Eisenkern extra parts set as well- get a ton of use out of it.

The funny thing is that I've had most of the G.I. Joe stuff of well over 30 years. After a long period of storage, in a building (barn) that hurt any potential collector's value, the stuff is being repurposed to a better use.....FOR THE EMPRAH!




Here is what my ersatz crew served would look like set up for action. But it will be stowed on the Lorraine.








I also finished the camo pattern on the Trojan, applying the final layer earlier tonight. Pics:

Time for a quick update.




During a stop at Lowes today, these caught my eye. I started getting ideas on how to solve my tank headlight dilemma on GW/FW tanks and AFVs. The were cheap, so I picked up a couple of packs.









I did a test installation on the Leman Russ Tech Command Tank. After a bunch of sawing, cutting, filing, sanding, and removing the little metal bits, I got something I could work with. It's not perfect. It's really not that pretty. But as long as it's close to being centered on the track guard, and the two holes for the headlamps facing out are fairly level, I'm satisfied. I just hope I don't screw up the next one I chop up.







I also started painting on the Trojan's details last night. Couldn't sleep, so I painted. Still have a ways to go. Pics:










I got a couple more Lorraine variants in yesterday:










And my Bombard came in from Forge World......








The plastic GW/Citadel Leman Russ kit. The only plastic parts used are the track units and links. If I could find some seperate track units and links, I could build an entire Leman Russ variant from these parts.

The large parts also look good, with no issues detected. Damn, that's a big gun.....







As per Forge World's standard operating procedure, the "instruction sheet" leaves much to be desired. Fortunately, like the Trojan, the Bombard is a fairly simple kit to assemble.








Just a heads up: I'm still waiting on some transfers from Hobbylinc, so I can get started on more work on the Mk 1 Predator Tank. I'm also still waiting on a Tamiya Sdkfz.223 kit to come in from Japan. I also plan on ordering some more accessories from Games Workshop, so I can finish building the Executioner and move on to priming/basecoating.


But the big thing (for me, at least) is that I bit the bullet and sank some green into a nice Forge World kit, one that I wanted for a long time. Hopefully, soon, I will have me a mighty STORMBLADE to start working on. And I didn't have to sell my soul, any limbs, organs, or first born child to buy it.

I washed the resin parts of the Bombard. After they dried, I cut them from the leftover resin blocks:

The Echleon transfers I ordered from Hobbylinc also arrived. Now I can continue work on the Mk 1 Predator tank.











Echleon includes some nice color transfer guides with their products.










The Lorraine 38 is nearly done. All that is left is the environmental effects and a matte coating with Krylon #1311.

OK that is it, going to have to scratch me up a Lorraine, for some reason it just fits into an Imperial feel. Maybe it's because it is a bit like a Pope-mobile or something, just has a feel of some General stood in back being chauffeured to go see what the boys are doing. You know from a mile away, doesn't get out much.

I know that the tank itself has no such silliness about it, and is a serious bit of kit.

Anyways great stuff bud.

Thanks, bro. You shouldn't have too much of a problem finding a kit to play with, since they turn up on ebay (among other places online) from time to time.



As for my progress, besides painting, I started assembling the Bombard.














......And I hit a major roadblock. One of the critical parts, the right cannon bracket for the gun, was missing from the kit. Instead, I got an extra hatch cover (which doesn't help any). I already emailed Forge World with the required information and the following pics. Hopefully, this will be resolved in a prompt manner so I can finish building the vehicle.








Anyway, I'll keep y'all updated on the matter.

Love the Lorraine and the Bombard is terrific- I think I'm going to try for something that looks more like that when I build the companion piece to the Phaethon ammo schlepper!

UPDATE!



Nearly done with the Trojan! Like the Lorraine, I just have to dirty it up a bit and matte coat it. Pics after the detail painting:

I cut a small hole in the mount just right of the crane. Using Gorilla super glue, and a piece of small paperclip, I made a small vox aerial.

I managed to get things squared away with Forge World, so my replacement cannon bracket is on the way. In the mean time, I'll keep working on base coating and detailing the Bombard.

I must be a member of the cool kids club now, since I got my very first warped resin parts form Forge World to straighten out........

The instructions (or destructions, depending on who you are). They are a bit more detailed that other Forge World instruction sheets. On another note, there are options for two other OOP Forge World Baneblade variants. Fortunately, there are plastic versions offered by GW for those two variants.

Quick update to the thread!




I'm happy to report that my replacement part for the missing Bombard cannon bracket came in from the U.K. today.......









Now I can jump back into the Bombard project full blast!





I completed the Stormblade build. There is still a gap or two to take care of, but it's done, extras and all. Next up will be the base coat of paint at some point. I will say that working on this monster has been one hell of an adventure, and a learning experience.

Short update.



Got these bits in from Ebay yesterday. From the Forge World Bombard kit, I have what amounts to an entire Leman Russ kit, minus the track assemblies and links used for the Bombard. So, now I can build another Leman Russ variant without buying a whole other kit. Kinda like a two for one deal with the Bombard.











The progress on the Bombard so far. Once the loading arm is painted and built, all that will be left is the weathering and environmental effects, finished by a matte coat.

Looking good ORM! I'm taking close-up looks at the loading arm on the bombard, as I'm going to need something similar one day for the howitzer/SPG that will go with the Phaeton. A really ambitious project that is showing great results.

Speaking of the Bombard, the build is done. The only exception is that I'm going to find a place for a short vox aerial on the piece. After that, it'll be on to the weathering, any needed touch-ups, environmental effects, and final matte coating.




















Group shot with the rest of the battery assembled so far. The artillery observation vehicle will be the last one to be built. Then, I'll weather the models, add environmental effects, amd matte coat them. I'll have to throw together the battery personnel at some point. In the fluff, it's stated that a single Bombard needs a supporting group per piece, and an artillery company of these things is a small army in it's own right.













This will be the command vehicle for my CBRN team. Besides this and the Chemical Recon Vehicle, I have a Type 87 ARV on the way from Hobbylinc.

Using the spare track related bits I got off of Ebay, I went ahead and did the basic build on my next Vanquisher. Now, it's just a matter of waiting for some more stuff to come in, and I'll finish building it the way I want it.










I finished installing my little homemade headlight experiment on the Leman Russ Tech Command Tank. Not perfect, but it works for this vehicle.

Next up is the third PAC/RAT, which I converted into a mobile anti-air remote weapons system:

I love those tankette kits- I think the Poles and Italians both used them during WWII. I found a couple in 1/48 scale and used them as chassis for Mech Servitors, worked out fairly well.

Nice arty battery- not everyone stops to think that there's only so much room on the gun track itself- if they are to fire more than a couple rounds, you need munition-schlepper to chase it around!

Okay, folks. A brief update.



It's been a while since I last posted, and I don't have much in way of progress to show tonight. I haven't had much time for hobby stuff except in bits and pieces. Found out my mother had colon cancer. But fortunately, it was caught in the earliest stages, and everything looks to be fine after the surgery. Now, after some upcoming chemo and/or radiation on that one spot (just to be on the safe side), and some further recovery from the surgery, everything looks to be fine. But it has been a busy time.



So, on to the thread.....



I finally got in a Type 87. Combined with the CRV and Type 82, it will be part of my CBRN team.









The very slow painting progress on the third Panzer II and Type Zero Labor










I picked up some more superglue at the grocery store. There was a choice of applicators for the Krazy Glue, so I bought one of each to try out.










I also started work on the Polish TKS Prototype tankette. It's been slow going, squeezing in hobby time whenever I can.

Despite a busy time, I still managed to get SOMETHING accomplished.



I got in some Echelon transfers. They're mostly for the Patlabor project, but they'll still come in handy for others.










And here is the TKS tankette. All that is left to do is the mud/dirt effects and final matte coating with rattle can Krylon.....

I like how the tankette came out, and an interesting shade of green! I want to build a set to act as prime movers for the heavy wheeled mortars I'm finishing up- you've convinced me these are the particular design to go with- nice work!

Glad to help. And I'm glad you're digging it. The color, by the way, is Citadel Elysian Green, which looks to me to be basically a brighter olive drab.

The third Panzer II project is getting close to completion. Next will be a coat of Krylon matte. Then the winterizing.

First off, I wanted some cheap, dollar store gold paint for small items and/or touch-ups. They didn't have any in the bottle, so I got a paint pen instead. I've tried it out and it works great.










Next, I got in one more of these. Now I have enough TKS tankettes for a squadron when they are all finished.










I also got me one of these little beauties. I was going to get one from Hobbylinc eventually, but Tamiya discontinued the kit before that happened. So, I had to get one in from Japan.









And finally, the last "Pattern 121 Defence Tank" is done.

Are you keeping the towed gun with the tankette, or maybe possibly make it a mounted gun with a gun shield instead of a full turret on the tankette itself? Lots of possibilities! I like that staff car kit too- didn't realize it was being discontinued.

Since the towed pieces are essentially towed anti tank rocket launchers (Raketenwerfer 43s), I'll keep them as towed heavy weapons, in the same vein as those used by the Death Korps. The stand alone TKS will serve as the lead track in a recon squadron. The two with the towed Puppchens will simply be scouts tractoring the squadron's anti-tank support.


The Ford staff car will serve as the ride/communications vehicle for a Master of the Fleet. So, an Imperial Navy liason vehicle.



On another note, I forgot to share the last time I posted, but I took advantage of Dreamforge Gamers Memorial Day sale to get some more Iron Core stuff in. I hope to stock up on more before Mark switches from plastic to resin.









And here is the work so far on the Leman Russ Tech Command Tank. Over half-way there. Although, unfortunately, the transfers on the turret were slightly damaged during application. But nothing a bit of covering up with Valhallan Blizzard won't take care of.

Yep, I grabbed a ton of stuff from Dream Forge during the Memorial Day sale as well- not only are they going resin, but if I read things right they won't be producing Eisenkern any more- they're going in new directions. Amongst other things, I picked up to boxes of the Stormtrooper Accessories- I use bits from those sets all the time!
