Some of you may know that I had a large (and pretty awesome) collection of Green Army Men. I use them to play some games from time to time:

https://bloodandspectacles.blogspot.com/2018/03/wargame-design-green-army-men-plastic.html

However, in a recent move the shippers lost my big tin of Green Army Men so I need to replace them. I am loathe to buy them online blind since so many of them are just really cheap. I want a slightly better quality.

Do any of you guys have the name of a decent manufacturer I can order from online that makes a decent quality Green Army Man, preferable the Vietnam or WWII ones.

Sorry to hear about that. Here's a few options.

-The original and best manufacturer of the Vietnam army men, M48 tanks, and other classics is probably "Tim Mee Toys". You can find them on Amazon. They cost a bit more but they're made in the USA and almost all of the vietnam figs that aren't Tim Mee are knock-offs and likely lower quality.
-If you're interested in WW2, there's a bucket of 4 types of WW2 troops that's also fairly common on Amazon. The quality of the figs isn't quite what it was back in the day, but you get US, British, German and Japanese troops in one pack.

Those were the two I was looking for specifically. Thank you.

Another potentially useful toy

The action figures would be useless but the blockade and weapons should be useful.

There's a couple more sets in the Click N Play line that might work for some projects.

Thanks - those are great toys KK, but a little big for 40k (about 1/18th scale)

I’ve bought quite a collection of them for my boy. At about $2 USD per mini (fully articulated, painted and assembled) and $15-$30 for most vehicles, the pricing comparison to GW is stark.

Still horses for courses and all that.

Lads, I need some help and your the best lot to ask.
I need 1:56/28mm civilian vehicles that are cheap, and maybe a couple of military ones if you know any good ones.
Any ideas?
UK based, so UK shops would help.

This set has the ambulances and APCs I showed up there, the truck and tank should also work.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/YAKOK-Pull-Back-Helicopter-ArmyGreen-Military/dp/B07J665ZJ2/ref=sr_1_52?ie=UTF8&qid=1543889748&sr=8-52&keywords=toy+military+vehicles

The link up there to Alibaba is cheaper and I'm sure they ship to the UK . Just allow a few weeks.

As well as the ones we've shown I'd search Ali Express (unlikely to find cheaper prices).
Here's a pack of 5 cars on Ali for $12 USD shipped.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1-50-Scale-Diecast-Mode-cars-for-architecture-model-making-train-layout/32904734702.html
Here's some nicer ones:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/5pcs-Painted-Model-Cars-Building-Train-Layout-1-50-O-Scale-Great-Collector/32802216437.html
For more like that, search for "1:50 cars" on Ali. Search also for "O scale". 1:50 is a pretty common size, though you can find 1/48 too. Especially for trucks. Always double check the provided measurements though as while the measurements are usually accurate, the scale's aren't always noted correctly.

Here's an item I've seen on Ali and Ebay and is probably available on EbayUK too:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Kid-1-43-Racing-Bicycle-Truck-Toy-Carrier-Vehicle-Garbage-Truck-Diecasts-Toy-ho-/302562224780?var=&hash=item46721d2a8c.
I've bought a few and you can see my pics and thoughts on them here:
https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=104586.msg1353923#msg1353923
Scroll down for the second and third.

Alternatively for civilian, I just buy 1/48 and 1/43 die cast cars at resale shops and sometimes in whatever retail outlet they appear in. That may sound big since those scales are closer to 35mm'ish but with most "28mm" figs being 30mm+ these days, heroic in proportion, and sitting on a 3mm base, 1/48 and 1/43 vehicles generally end up looking quite good. They have formed backdrop, terrain, and even drivable vehicles for numerous post-apoc, zombie, Superhero and even sci-fi games over the years.

They have articulation, so they're technically action figures.

Now I'll have a second reason to skulk around truck stops.

But seriously that's the least disgusting "found it in a truck stop" story I've ever heard. Pretty amazing find. How much did they cost?

It's not exactly a toy, but Walmart has been stocking these: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Super-Stacker-3x5-Box-Clear/140901217 You can spray paint and weather them for decent scatter containers. Little ones are about $1 each and the big ones are about $3.

I didn't buy it but I'd say the wing span is over 12". The box has one wing removed so it will fit.

I haven't gone through the whole thread so apologies if it's already been mentioned.

The Thomas & Friends Super Station
Kids got this from a generous & overzealous Aunt & Uncle and it looked so cool I picked up a used one for $40 a few weeks later for the sole purpose of stealing parts for Necromunda/40k. Amazon also apparently has them on sale and you can sell off the trains and any extra tacks you don't need to offset the price.

Lots of little details to paint - rubble, pipes, cables lying around the tracks - just pop the face off the crane, paint everything Grimdark and you have a really cool base. You can build it up on the girders for height or lay it flat and encircle it with track.
