I nip off out of my tree for a bit and this slips by, what a fantastic build. Superb paint job too.

So when you say you are finished you are never really finished. So eBay purchases to make my Storm Troopers a little more effective.

Progress on four Kasrkin of which I will use three for this month's Unofficial Painting Competition.

You have to love the old metal models. They never really go away and can always be stripped and repainted. Glad to see you rescue a few from the abyss and get them painted up.

Thank you Warboss_Waaazag. I have painted them a little different from my Spiders, but the same colours are all there. After all the "Glory Boys" need to look a little different.

Good rescue of the storm troopers. Is the Sgts head original? He looks almost Eldar being that skinny headed

Thanks gobert,

Funny you should mention that as I have another painted Storm Trooper Sergeant and his head is larger and rounder. This sergeant and one Plasma trooper (not pictured as I dropped him to reach the five model limit for the painting competition) were from a seller in the Ukraine. Now there were no extra mold lines or other indications of a copy, these are pewter which is more difficult to copy. There was a little less detail on the Plasma gunner's backpack...again nothing that shouts copy...as GW pewter casts were sometimes of a poor quality.

Good-looking storm troopers! I like the dark armor and camo fatigues. Is that armor black or dark grey? It’s nice to see this cool army still growing.

Nice work on the stormtroopers CB. Great paint job on some classic models. The sergeants I have of these have fairly thin heads too, swords on mine are more curved though

Thanks Riddle, the armour is black with dark grey highlights.

Thank you Maharg,
So I guess the two models from the Ukraine are legit. I should take a photo of my Sergeants side by side. The sword was curved for the Sergeant, but I straightened it out as my first one had a straight sword as well.

Here is the new Sergeant and three Plasma Gunners all recently painted.

I need just one more Kasrkin Special Weapon and I can field two legal squads with the maximum number of Special Weapons. If someone has one please check out my thread on the Swap Shop.

These guys look great... I love this set of models and have hunted down a few squads myself. I don't recall if these are new units or add-ons, but if they're new you'll like the way they play... mine always punch above their weight. Great paint as always!

Those are some great looking scions Cap. Your plasma effects are exceptional, they don’t look like they are not about to go nova.

Looking great, love these models, always seem a nice halfway house with the SM and the standard grunts.

I played a game once where these were the most elite troops in my guard army and my opponent who was maybe grey Knights had a squad of them as his door-stop mop squad.

Fantastic work as always. They're a classic set of minis that are always a joy to see.

Well now some final army shots.

That’s one serious volume of Guard! Such great consistency on such a huge army really is impressive CaptainBrown. It must’ve take a good while to lay all of the out on the table let alone to paint them. Have an Exalt!

Nothing better to me than a huge and well painted army in a unified and great scheme. Excellent work Capt'n!

Are there any other plans for a different army at a similar size?

Thank you everyone.

Just a minor addition. As my two Basilisk Cannons fit into the same chassis that the old Griffon Mortars did I decided to do up some mounts provided by a member of my Gaming group who has a 3D printer.

Parts

Some rare earth magnets and an obsolete penny to hold the canons in place.

We have Earthshakers! You can hold them upside down and rotate the cannon around.
