This being Dakka, I'm gonna guess 'no'. I hope I'm wrong.

There is no "Dakka" - no Hive Mind or Zeitgeist - here...

Yikes, this may end up being expensive.

Snake ladies = yes
Slaanesh = yes
Shadow Aelves = maybe... but who am I kidding, that's probably yes.

Hopefully they'll be cheap individually (I mean price-wise, not in terms of personal morals) so I can get a lot...

We still may not see Slaanesh for a long time outside of fluff stuff about him. At least I hope we don't, 4 (really 7) major chaos releases across 2 game systems in a year is plenty, thank you very much. Chaos have started to make Stormcast look like Tomb Kings.

Well done Dakka!

But in all seriousness, this sounds like an awesome release, can't wait to see more!

I am not sure if the complaints where about order getting a new faction, i think it was more about a certain order faction cough sigmarines cough getting yet another variant model or another release. Death players probably are not thrilled about it though

We actually don't know if they ARE order yet. There's some rumblings that they'll either be defecting to Death as an allied Cohort of Nagash OR that they'll have the ability to Mercenary for both Order and Death.

People think they are going to do new daemonettes when we already got plastic ones?

We already had plastic assault marines, mostly plastic death guard/thousand sons/deathwatch, Tau firewarriors, broadsides, and crisis suits. All replaced during last edition alone.

I am not hoping for Diaz ones in plastic, but something better than current terrible box is long overdue

Being a Chaos player really warps your perspective on what 'long overdue' means huh? Try playing Sisters, Inquisition, High Aelves, or (hardmode) tomb kings. It'll give perspective.

This death player is excited I am sure I will get my Vampire Handmaidens and Pirates in due course

As beloved as Diaz Daemonettes may be to many, they're in no way classic. I'm talking about, really, any other Daemonette. The current plastics, the 1st ed models they are based on, even the gigantic claw 2nd ed ones.

Love the Diaz models but in my mind they are all daemonettes now - just different facets of the same thing - deamonettes are often described as having flowing, shifting forms form beautiful to horrrific and back

Im thrilled too (I love new models and lore in general) as long as it treads somewhere, death is reaaaally due for a new release but as long as new factions spring up I dont mind waiting. I am kind of curious how many of the other DE (assuming) models they might want to bring over

I'm betting Sigmar's Pantheon.

I think the line where she says she helped build civilization puts her in the Order camp.

Probably Sigmar's. Despite being an original Slaanesh worshiper, I doubt she'd be interested in joining with Khorne, Nurgle and Tzeentch. But really, deity-level Morathi is scary no matter which one she is talking about.

I'm sure she'll be in Sigmar's pantheon, but help build civilization and then being forgotten could have made her bitter. Just saying.

The hilarious part is how from the start there was rock-hard evidence that GW was not going to pull out Slaanesh. I mean s/he's in the very first AoS book that came, it doesn't get more explicit than that.

I am not chaos player. To me, though, Slanesh is same tier as Sisters or Inquisition, most of models are just as old and these that are not are so terrible they don't deserve to be acknowledged. Hell, you can say that thanks to Greyfax/Tempestus kits, Inquisition is in better place than Slanesh currently, as you can create a batallion that doesn't look like utter gak with minimal conversions

Um, I am pretty sure the 'cleaner looking ones' are Daughters, same faction as serpent ones, just equivalent of foot troops, not elites...

Personally I've made it a policy not to complain about release schedule. I mean, I'll lobby for things I want (High Elves, Sisters, Inquisition, Rogue Traders, WFB human factions other than Bretonnia and the Empire (hah!)), but in the meantime I'm okay hitching my wagon to whatever comes out to pass the time... and Slaanesh and I go way back.

I'm genuinely curious which book this is. I've just started getting onto AoS...and I thought I was reading the AoS fiction in order. Started with Gates of Azyr, then moved on to War Storm, and just finished Ghal Maraz. I dont recall reading anything about Slaanesh...lots of Khorne, lots of Nurgle, Plague Skaven, a little Tzeentch, and a whisper of Death/Nagash, but nothing Slaanesh themed yet!

Probably this one https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Warhammer-Age-of-Sigmar-Book-ENG The very first AoS rule/background/campaign book. If you have just been going through the BL fiction it would most likely have passed under your radar.

You don't have to feel bad about that. I played Tomb Kings, and look where that got us.

This isn't a competition. All of these are in a bad place. So is Slaanesh. Doesn't help that the models are less than ten years old if they look awful. Doesn't help that Tzeentch and Khorne and Nurgle got tons of models - they're not Slaanesh. Tossing them together as Chaos doesn't get Slaanesh players the models we want any more than calling Sisters and Inquisition an Imperial army of which we had many releases or throwing High Elves on the elf pile - if you want the shiny Tyrion cheerleader squad, what good are Greek Khaine worshippers are going to do you?

My read on it is that she’ll be trying to usurp Slaanesh as revenge. That tension between them will drive this little sub-plot.

The "hoplite style wych aelves" are remarkably similar to the two 'handlers' that come with the Cauldron of Blood kit when built as the Bloodwrack Shrine.

Khaine's pantheon is no more, and Morathi is against Chaos, so...

It should be Sigmar's pantheon she's talking about.

maybe khaine pantheon

There's not really a "Khaine pantheon". Khaine was one of the Cytharai, the 'dark gods' of the Aelves. They were gods that were honored but only kinda/sorta?
Each of the different Aelf races worshipped a different 'set' in the center of the Mandala there.
High Elves would have Lileath, Asuryan, Vaul, Isha and the other 'light gods' in the center. Asuryan took Khaine's place there.
Wood Elves had Kurnous and Isha as an intertwined entity taking the place of Khaine in their pantheon. Then it went "The Ancients"(spirits of the forest), and the rest are just placed in no particular order as the Wood Elves viewed them as being true to their natures.

Khaine was a god to be feared not one whose blessing one would seek out.
Ereth Khial was the goddess of death IIRC.
Anath Raema was the flipside of Kurnous(the "noble hunter god").
A few of the others never really got explored too much. Morai-Heg played a big part in the Sundering(at least if "The Shadow King" is still canon), or at least ensuring that Alith-Anar and his lineage survived it to wreak havoc on Malekith. Asuryan, Vaul, Loec, Kurnous, Isha all played a part in Aelf lore that made them a Big Deal.

Lileath actually played a pivotal role in the End Times. Read "Khaine" if you're interested in knowing how.

Look at what from their perspective?

All of the Elves worshiped the same gods.
This isn't a case of different pantheons. They all had the same deities. It's just that each race gave them different prominence.

It's also worth mentioning that Morathi? She wasn't really tied to any of the cults of Elven gods. She was the founder of the Cult of Excess. She was the patroness of that Cult. She and her Sorceresses went out of their way to court Slaanesh's favor at every turn. They made pacts with the Chaos Gods even.

Right now it just seems like she's got a bad case of sour grapes over getting eaten by her god.

Indeed she and what was her son joined Sigmar in the Age of Myth, (p56 of Mughty battles)

The diagram shown even discusses the differences in how the High and Dark Elves wirship the same dieties

Khaine is still worshipped by some Aelves in the Mortal Realms, mianly the daughters of Khaine an I recall in one of the novels a chracter rembering nights when they haunted the streets of Azyr cities and claimed victims.
