I liked it. I kinda wonder if Rose didn't intentionally step back from stuff like that to let the new actress have all the limelight?

Ryan Wilder is definitely going to be an interesting character to see develop though. She's not beholden to anything in the comics.

IDK, her not even showing up to pass the torch seems really unprofessional.
I wouldn't be surprised is she doesn't get much work, especially on TV shows after this. She is looking really bad RN

I mean apparently she hurt herself pretty badly during Batwoman, and it's not like she's Tom Cruse who can afford the risk for poopies and giggles.

I get not wanting to do stuff in person, but they could have at least recorded her reading the letter.

Letters and stuff like that are, IMO, always an iffy thing as a plot mechanic. I like them not having Rose read it--it meant a bit more to the scene having the voice be the character reading it rather than the writer for me.

Well that was't a complete train-wreck.

Given the situation the plotline makes sense, and I like the new girl far more than stoic emotionless expressionless Kate Kane.

I hated the bat thing so much. Bats eat rats? I’m sorry what? Duct taping a rat to your dead friend you poisoned so a giant swarm of bats will descend on the corpse and bite it and become infected with the poison then go on to bite other people and infect them with the poison is pants on head stupid. I like the plan of Why she poisoned them and for what end, but the means was just way beyond dumb and it makes me angry.

I like the new actress so far. General story is pretty par for the usual drama. I would have preferred Kate’s dad took a bit longer to find out Batwoman wasn’t the same person.

Well what do you know. Batwoman is getting a third season (and Flash and Legends will continue).

I'm well aware of the story. I just don't read anything We Got This Covers publishes.

New Superman series premier is really good. Way different tone than the other CW shows. I strongly recommend checking it out.

I was really pleasantly surprised. It had great cinematography. Like they really wanted it to look like Man of Steel, but with Clark portrayed as a deeper, more relatable person. I'm not sure I would like it as much if I had watched it before I was a father myself.

Will it have the standard CW drama? Yeah, probably, otherwise the sons wouldn't be teenagers. But it still felt different from the "Heroes being sad" like in the other DC shows.

Oh there's time for that. Flash was a pretty upbeat show from the outset, but as the character grew they definitely let the darkness in a bit.

Or it can be like Arrow where everyone is keeping secrets one another in order to:

1). Protect you!
2). It's my burden to keep, not yours!

Well they already did do that one with him having not told his kids he was Superman.

I've been rewatching Arrow over lockdown, I'm kinda surprised that by season 5, they're actually getting pretty good at telling each other the latest secret within the same episode.

Like, the format now is:

1) Find out secret
2) Consult with 3rd party about the secret for their opinion
3) Tell the relevant person the secret

Within the same episode.

Ok, sure there's still A WHOLE LOT of secrets to find out, but it's also like, hey, the characters are maturing some and being less daft.

It's a big switch-up from Smallville, which I've also been rewatching recently, and its merry go round of lies and gaslighting.

Like, one episode, Ollie accidentally shoots and kills a friend of another character. There's a few shots of handwringing, then he goes, "hey, I've got something to tell you, I'm really sorry that... It was an accident..."

If it was Smallville, this would have been like a 2 season long storyarc of lies and deception, probably including a 'Weekend at Bernies' inspired episode where they try to pretend the dead person is still alive.

Don't really pay much attention to actual TV of late, but I looked this up after seeing it discussed and neat. I like this premise. I liked the first episode. Is this meant to be an actual sequel to the old TV show with Supes and Lois, or Smallville, or is it more of a spiritual successor? It feels almost like it could be a sequel. Some bold choices here either way. I appreciate them. I kind of fell out of the CW shows after I think season 2 of Supergirl? Glad I watched this. If nothing else the first episode captures Superman a lot better than many other attempts in the past few years while simultaneously adding some novel elements. It's maybe not exactly what I like most from the character, but points for doing a better job than everyone else in a while.

I do kind of wish the costume didn't look so cheap. Kind of cheesy looking to me. I don't mind it that much :/

I think 'spiritual successor' to Smallville is the way to phrase it. - Some vaguely similar things to Smallville happened earlier in his life, but not exactly.

Of course, it's worth saying that Superman & Lois briefly met Smallville's Clark during Crisis on Infinite Earths.

It's not actually a successor to Smallville, or Lois & Clark.

It's its own thing, but as part of the Arrowverse, as the characters first got their start in Supergirl (and had their histories re-written during the Crisis crossover last year, where they went from having one infant son to two teenage sons).

And Arrowverse Lois couldn't quite hide the look the multiverse had shortchanged her with her Clark on either Earth Smallville or Earth Kingdom Come

I was going to point out she's in Sky's upcoming Andy McNab / SAS thing (Red Notice), but after checking it looks like it was filmed a while ago (first-look images came out at the start of 2019).

Ah okay. So I missed that bit cause I stopped watching Supergirl.

All indications from the cast+crew seemed to point towards them not being super upset with Rose. There's the usual tabloid "OMG BEHIND THE SCENES DRAMA!!!" stuff...but Rose did comment quite often that she was not expecting how demanding TV vs film would be. It seems like transitioning from film to TV is a bit of a system shock because of shooting schedules vs going from TV to film.

Genuinely feel like if there were hard feelings, Kate would just be dead.

Spoiler:
Remains to be seen. Given that he makes comments about "his world" and that his complexion is a lot darker than the Lex Luthor we have as a figure in the current, post-Crisis universe...I'd say he's from one of the alternate universes. There's some rumors going around that he might be from an InJustice styled world but it plays heavily off the fact that one of the boys was playing InJustice.

On the subject of lies and secrets, Batwoman not telling the people she works with about the freakish necrotic wound that just keeps getting worse she got from the special anti-Batwoman bullet.
