6 months is a long time for a big leak to go unacknowledged.

Yes, that’s exactly what I said they should do, well done!

I refer you to the well fuzzy photo of the latest SM update. That was in the wild a long time.

I think there’s a bit of a difference between a super fuzzy photo of one model for a faction that gets a release every other week, to pretty clear photos of a huge box for a system that is honestly crying out for some better support, but yeah. And it’s not that I really expect them to do anything about it, but it’s understandable that HH fans are gonna get worked up for every preview and be disappointed by each one until they acknowledge it.

I think I saw someone mention that the 40k model would be available today at LVO.

There really is no excuse you won't make for them, is there?

It was (yet another) underwhelming preview, filled with things that we've either already seen before, things we already knew about (even if we hadn't seen the entire mini), and "teasers" for things they aren't revealing right now.

They managed to sneak underneath my low expectations. Well done, I guess.

I think the animations get me the most. Those cost more money than just showing pics of the models, so they're a pure expense whose only purpose is to be inherently disappointing.

Well the Corsair looks amazing- guessing the full squad will be revealed on Monday as the last Path of the Preview. If there are loads of heads and accessories could be a very fun kit, especially for bashing with the other new kits like the guardians and bikers. A new Yriel/HQ would be cool I the future.
The Shining Spear kit looks gorgeous too- very impressive.
A bit gutted that the rumour engine wheel pi is likely for the Ash Wastes rather than squats - but it does leave the door open for some interesting Squat vehicles in the future.
Not really surprised at the volume of reveals - there will be another in March no doubt.

Think that's about an old pic with the primaris bikes and speeders. It was out a long time before GW copped to it.

So because of leak they should put news out and then for a year total silence? If you don't think they shouldn't be silent after then you expect them to hasten product release due to leak and back to unrealistic and unreasonable.

Putting news out year ahead due to leak ruining surprise for majority that ahead leaving year wait makes zero sense. Only me-me-everything-now-to-me people and noobs can expect that

As it is when they start hyping and previewing in may for july release for edition they run out of steam midway. Entire year hype on not going to work.

I said "going on a year" not that its been "almost a year". "Going on a year" is an accurate statement (in that if its been 6 months and things continue this way, it will eventually reach a full year) and my go to for "it hasn't been a year yet but I know its been a really long time though I'm not quite sure how many months exactly".

So because of leak they should put news out and then for a year total silence?

Did you ever hear the tragedy of The Old World development updates? I thought not. Its not a tale the WarCom team would tell you.

It's ironic these ghosts have stirrup on their crossbow, which help them reload using their foot, oops.

Maybe give them a goat foot instead, like the Bolt boy. Or a cranequin.

If there is a 40k model, I imagine at the very least they'll show off both on the warcom site for New Model Monday.

Unrelated, it's weird they mention Ka'Bandha is also in AOS, since the model is clearly 30k inspired, since it has a mk iv marine on the base and a helmet on his crotch chain. It's not like you could plop him down in AOS easily

The model isn't without problems even if you leave aside that it's a significantly different silhouette from something people have looked at for the better part of three decades.

For an Eldar his cloak is heavily tattered, whereas the old one managed to keep his tabard pristine. Similarly, the scythe has GW's new holey bone sculpting style. While not actually damaged, it simply looks shabbier than the old, smoothly crafted scythe.

The model may have lost much of its bulk (I want to wait for 360s before I make up my mind on this, but the picture in the reveal article hints at it). This may be an improvement in principle, given proportions tend to be better these days than they were back then and a result of that is that models are slimmer than the ones they replace. But in case of Maugan Ra who has been defined by his uncharacteristic bulk, which is to say uncharacteristic for an Eldar rather than the widespread bulkier appearance models from the time experienced, you have to take great care that the improved sculpting and casting technology doesn't lose this aspect of the model. Which, I think, may have happened to the new one.

The coat is not a good addition. Before you had Maugan Ra as the as you rightly say very obvious aspect of death, that was still visibly built around normal Eldar armor. With the cloak hiding way more of the Eldar underneath it, it loses much of the appearance of an aspect warrior and thus something characteristically Eldar in favor of becoming a much more generic grim reaper.

The pose of the new one manages to spread his legs even wider than the old one, which is quite a feat given the old one is from a time when that pose was elevated to an art form. The new stance is so wide that it moves away even further from what we'd consider a natural look and relies on tactical debris so as not to look completely ridiculous.

I think with how far up the Maugetar is raised, in combination with the pose and the cloak the new model looks like a cosplayer posing for a photo. If you looked at the less exaggerated old model and got from it that Maugan Ra means business, in the sense that he's a serious warrior who adopted the aspect of death to terrify his enemies, in my opinion it's not unjustified to attribute undue edginess to the new model based on the changes listed above.

Also the paintjob doesn't help, but that's not a fault of the model.

Oh noes I'm being made out to look stupid because of global pandemics and shipping problems whilst ignoring that unless they release books, those new models they have ready and preview simple can't be sold due to not having rules!

Almost like their entire business model requires them to get the books out and to tell us when. But of course, covid and suez canal related dramas are to blame rather than a reliance on an outdated roadmap and release process.

But don't let that stop you trying to belittle me.
