Somewhere in south-central England.

I have just finished a modest sized treacle pudding. It's years since I last had one, and it seemed a suitable choice for the winter weather we have in the UK at the moment.

I'm not usually a big dessert eater, but there are a few that I find it hard to resist when they appear on a restaurant menu:

Creme brulee, Treacle tart, New York Cheesecake, Key Lime pie. Yum.

Come on Dakkites, let's discover the world's best desserts together!

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

This kind of reminds of Games Day Toronto 2007 10' Space Marine I tell no lie.

Cheese cake is my favourite dessert although I actually prefer eating it at home along with homemade cookies and things. At a restaurant I usually get something like whatever Awesome Chocolate Ice Cream Awesome Cake they have. With chocolate sauce.

You know.

Just swooping in to lower the bar.

Not my personal favourite, obviously. However at the low, low price of £1.99, it's pretty damn good. Stuffing my face with it at the moment.

NOW THESE!

Profiteroles: Dessert of Kings.

I'm all about this particular chocolate cake served at a particular chain of Chicago hot dog restaurants.

Portillo's. Look that noise up.

Sweet potato pie belongs in the same circle of hell that hosts the devil bird: turkey.

Thanksgiving is an awful, awful holiday.

Which leads to a potentially derailing question: Why do we eat turkey at Thanksgiving dinner?

Goose was also likely present at the first, as were duck and pheasant. All three of them are far tastier, and yet we chose turkey as the tradition to carry.

Perhaps Americans are masochistic?

Blasphemy!!...well..at least concerning your views on Sweet potato pie.

As far as Turkey goes,meh...I prefer a nice ham,and traditionally (at least in my home) ham always accompanies the turkey to the table on Thanksgiving, although I'd happily replace the turkey with duck.

I can't pick a favourite; they're all too good...

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

My mom made this flourless Death by Chocolate cake for (one of the four, along with three different pies) Thanksgiving dessert which was just amazing.

24 ounces of chocolate, nine eggs, sugar, a pound of butter. IME flourless cakes are often dry, but not this puppy. It was like a solid chocolate mousse; or that chocolate cream you get in the layers of a Dobos Torte.

Speaking of the latter, Swiss Colony is a company in the US that does amazing desserts, and their 15 layer Dobosh Torte is historically my favorite dessert.
When I was a kid we used to order them for the holidays and my birthday.

That's 15 alternating layers of chocolate cream and sponge cake, enrobed in hard dark chocolate, with a little decorative line of mint sprinkles down the middle.

While I've never had sweet potato chips (in the American sense.),I have had sweet potato "fries"...so good.
I'd love to hear how you chips turn out,as well as the preparation method...and would also like to wish you best of luck in not "damaging" yourself in any way.

I know tons of desserts:

Purin , usually also comes with spoons. Sometimes they make coffee versions too

Yōkan , pretty healthy i guess made out of bean paste , agar and sugar. Comes in different variety of flavor as well: They also make great gifts

Mochi: Chewy soft rice cake , have different filling , some are frozen with ice cream inside!

Tāngyuán ( round things in soup ) similar to Mochi is made out of glutinous rice flour , usually ate once a year by Chinese

Dessert Tofu , now most N.Americans tend to think tofu tastes gross , well you are buying the wrong ones! Here is my favorite dessert tofu

ZongZi again, more glutinous rice , but this one isnt grounded up. Originally made once a year as well and are thrown into a lake to commemorate someone that drowned. Supposedly once thrown the fish
will eat the rice instead of his body >.> There are many variation of this , some are plain with peanut ( eaten with syrup ) or there are more elaborate ones with meat and stuffings.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Moon Cakes , probably the most important dessert in asia as its sort of asian "Valantines" and Luna worship.
I cant remember the details but the 2 constellation ( boy and scorpio? they avoid each other in earth's sky in Greece mytho ) tells a different story in asia as only one day per year
the 2 constilation (lovers) are able to meet up under the same sky.

Mochigumi Turtle : My child hood favorite as the ones i received are authentic ones "earned" by me in the temples once a year , despite making my parents angry xD

I had pumpkin pie once a few years ago and thought it was wonderful but can't find it or sweet potato pie anywhere in the UK. Will have to dig out a recipe and start cooking.

Sweet potato pie is next to godliness, if you'll let me steal a phrase..

Also, my mom makes a chocolate peanut-butter pie that is heavenly. Rice Crispies and Dark Chocolate crust that is then chilled. The filling is cream cheese, peanut butter, sweetened condensed milk with chocolate drizzle on top. I'm going to go have a piece now.

Well here in good ol' Canada you can get canned pumpkin at any grocery store. Sweet potatoes, which are also easily available although not canned would have to be blended I suppose.

Can do

Going to have to get back to you on them, though: I set out two Sweeties, one was cooked into our sunday meal And I burnt the other one, so it takes like crap.

Anyway, I was frying them, after slicing them up and putting Salt on one side. I was just stupid in making them really thin, putting them all in at the same time, and proceeding to go to the bathroom.
