The sink.

Isn't there a rule where you don't get to use your psychic hood or runic weapon to stop a power that goes off automatically? Like eldar warlocks, Typhus, Shadow in the Warp, etc.

If they have to pass a psychic test then you can use the hood.

Warlock Powers are not Psychic powers. With the exception of the Attack powers you never have to declare you are using them, they are always up.

Typhus uses Psychic powers, he just automatically Succeeds.
Runic Weapons and Psychic Hood abilities trigger on Successful Psychic tests so can be negated.

Shadow in the Warp does nothing to the Nids, it only has a detrimental effect on Enemy Psykers. Nid Psykers still have to Pass Psychic tests as normal.

Just saying, but I bet this has been debated enough.

A Psychic Hood can only be used when an enemy model in range passes a Psychic Test. Warlocks never have to take psychic tests at all, so the hood never gets a chance to trigger.

If you want a fluff explanation, think of it as a different form of psychic activity, which draws on the Warp more subtly and doesn't pop up on the Librarian's "radar".

Depending on just how specifically Typhus is worded, whether he never has to test because he automatically succeeds, or if he automatically succeeds his tests. In the first instance the powers are never "tested"(No test = No chance to hood) while in the second instance he automaticall passes the "test"(You can attempt to nullify).

And yes Warlock powers are indeed Psychic powers, which is why the Black Templars' vow Abhor The Witch, Destroy the Witch is allowed an attempt to nullify a warlock's powers. Even though they are never "tested" for, the psychic power still effects a Templar model, and a roll is allowed in attempt to nullify said power.

Other than that one instance of the Templar vow, in which case the power must effect a Templar model, it's true that there are powers in the game that cannot be nullified because they happen automatically.

Warlock powers always go off and dont require a psychic test, so you cant interfere with them.

Yes they always go off, but again the Black Templars and actually the Daemonhunters as well, have special rules that are allowed an attempt to nullify the power if the controlling player is able to roll a 5 or greater on a D6. Yay for old codex's special rules.

-Edit

Again though this power must effect one or more models from said codex's, and Templars only if they took the vow.
