This forum is to provide a place for people to show off their finished (painted) works. Please don't post any general questions when starting a thread, use the main painting and modeling forum for that instead.

Do you know of an existing thread in the general Painting and Modeling forum that features (only) pictures of finished models that is probably more at home in this forum? Then please contact a moderator via PM to have it moved.

Thanks!

A few ground rules about posting in this forum:

1) Models must be FINISHED. Complete. Done. Not-Works-In-Progress. You can decide what's finished, and we're not legislating quality here, but if you're still working on it, it goes in either Painting & Modeling or P&M Blogs. The Showcase is where you show off what you've completed and want to wow people with.

2) That means the base too. Some games/lines/types of dioramas might use unpainted/flocked bases, and if that's the case it will undoubtedly still look neat and clean and finished and we'll be able to tell by context. But for most wargaming models a completed model means a completed and nice base too.

3) This is a forum to actually show off pictures, so threads created here must contain at least one picture within the post itself. Simply posting a video or a link to another site without including a picture in the post is not acceptable, and threads like that will be moved to the regular painting and modeling forum.

Thanks!

i guess some orks are jewish since dakkadakka just gave us a new forum present during hannukkah! can we put in a rule about no "show me your *blank*" threads in which the OP doesn't even post any of his/her own pics? it's not much of a showcase thread if the OP doesn't bother contributing.

edit: here's a question. is this area only for completely finished works? there's a thread with a very cool coversion of a FW landraider with new treads that's not even glued together. do those types of threads belong here or regular p&m?

This is for finished works or one-off posts. Anything that progresses (like the landraider) is better in project logs. If in doubt stick it in the general painting and modelling forum as everything related to P&M is valid in there.

Just noticed this one myself. I think it's a good idea, even if it means a few more duplicated posts between the other two main P/M forums as people show their WIPs there and then post the finished works here.

Cheers!

out of curiosity, is there a rule that people starting threads have to actually post a pic in the thread? i've seen a bunch of 4chan-ish draw type threads where people just tell others to post them. that doesn't seem to follow the spirit of the subforum much. along a similar vein, is posting just a link to another site without any actual pics ok too?

It is not ideal, but sometimes those threads turn into the better massive threads. A case by case basis the best option and anybody starting more than one in say a week without getting decent responses is too far on the side of spam. As for linking, it is again quite annoying as we lose any long term reference, so people going through the forum archives will not be able to see it, but at the same time people might not want to host here or use bandwidth attaching things so it is acceptable although poor etiquette.

Just to confirm, can people show off WIP's here? It seems to run counter to the idea of showcasing models.

I just want to check as I think I have flagged a couple of WIP threads here (that I can remember off the top of my head) and I don't want to be flagging things that should not be.

Edit: And since the initial question has not yet been answered, do threads where the intial poster adds on new models they have painted to the same thread belong in showcase, or would they be more of a PLog for the P&M section?

An example would be this thread.

Updated my initial question and still hoping for some feedback as work is really boring and I seem to be wading through most of the showcase threads at the moment (as killkrazy can probably attest to as I have flagged quite a few)

Initially we were accepting WIP images here, but now we do not think there should be any, it should just be for finished things.

Adding on new models that have been painted to a thread is fine. If WIPs and other details about the works are added, then the thread would be better placed in P&M blogs.

I believe this forum needs a more severe moderation policy...

I am always a little aggravated when I open a thread here, and there's unfinished stuff in there (just look at those frozen4life makes for example)

I also find this disrespectful to the people who DO finish awesome miniatures... They shouldn't have to share space with half-paints, not-finalizeds and never-thought-throughs...

I don't want to be human! I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! And I want to - I want to smell dark matter! Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can't even express these things properly because I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid limiting spoken language! But I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws! And feel the wind of a supernova flowing over me! And I can know much more! I can experience so much more. But I'm trapped in this absurd body!

I concur.

Will try to do. I'd also love to do a showcasethread myself... But am restricted to my iPhone atm.

Anyways, the pic above just about sums this up more or less....

Updated the rules to specify that you must actually put a picture into your thread...just posting a link to another site where your pics are located is not acceptable (put that kind of thread in the regular painting and modeling forum please).

So does this requirement supercede the previous case-by-case determination as written by Lego a while back for the 4chan type themed pic threads with no OP content? I've noticed an increase in threads where people just post a line telling others to post pics of a certain type but don't actually post any of their own.

There seems to be some confusion going on here.

This THREAD is not for posting any pictures at all in. This is just a thread explaining what is/isn't acceptable to post in this forum.

If you have pictures of models that are completely finished being painted (including having their base painted), then you can create YOUR OWN THREAD IN THIS FORUM to show those pictures off.

If you have pictures of any other types of models, such as those without painted bases, for example, then you should instead create a thread in the regular painting and modeling forum to show those pictures off.

I will now be deleting the posts in this thread containing pictures.
