Just had this issue in a game still going on. I held the army in reserve and moved on during my third turn with a Wave Serpent. As part of my move, I tank shocked a bunch of Jetbikes. The Jetbikes used "Death or Glory!" with a blaster, and immobilized my skimmer. It was halfway on the board, leaving it's ass-end off the table. Even if it could move, there was no way it could pivot to get onto the table. I immediately went into a depressed state and simply called it "destroyed" along with 252 points of my army.
How would you guys resolve it? The same way? Entirely different?

Per the new Main Rules FAQ it is indeed destroyed(along with any unit inside) Let me dig up the Quote for you... Found it: "Q: What happens when a unit arrives from reserves but is unable to completely move onto the board? (p94) A: The unit is destroyed and removed from play."

Depending on the Vehicle, wave serpent fro example. Would you use the base to measure this, or the hull?

Yep. Don't tank shock through the model with the blaster.

Especially with a Skimmer who can just fly over them anyway.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

What he said. I couldn't help but let a little chuckle over your misfortune. Why did you tankshock instead of fly over? I play Dark Eldar and have played Eldar and can't think of a single reason I would tankshock with a unit coming from reserves.

If it's a unit subject to LD tests, it can be a chance of basically killing them without ever having to shoot or assault them. Tank shocking is good stuff.
Just don't do it over a model with an antitank weapon and risk losing your tank plus the squad inside!

On a side note, if I had tank shocked a different point in the unit (it was spaced out thin), would the model actually hit have to make the Death or Glory, or can any model do it?
Also, I don't think I could've got far enough onto the table to still disembark my troops (which I wanted to do). At any rate, I got him back by ramming his Razorwing Jetfighters with my other Serpents, blowing them to smithereens (as well as one Prism that had lost it's cannon). Hehehehe...I found a new favorite tactic against DE!

The DoG rules specify that it has to be a model in the vehicle's path.
Some players do interpret that to mean that, since the unit is being affected as a whole, technically any model in the unit is in the vehicle's path. Sort of.
Restricting it to individual models actually in the vehicle's path would stay closer to the actual RAW, though, IMO.
