Captain Tylerius and His Blood Ravens!

Mission - build a fighting force of Blood Ravens (blame Dawn of War) for my son - Captain Tylerius - to do battle with all comers at the local GW during the Christmas break!

Thor's base is excellent. I like his crossed swords too. Anywhere for a side-slung bolter or bolt pistol to fit on him?

i think you need to rename them but aside from that AWESOME!

I especially like Sgt. Beaky. I've always been fond of the idea of dual wielding plasma pistols, but have never done such a model for a playing army, since it has no in game affect other than to suck up points, alas.

Moltar - Thanks!
- The crossed swords caused no end of trouble - still trying to hang some firepower off him somewhere!

d.fear - Thanks!
- Alas, apart from Brother Thor, the rest of the names came from my son.
- Quick naming explanations:
- Sgt Heat - carrying a flamer
- Brother Bad Knee - crap leg conversion from a while back (in a previous life as an Ultramarine) that I haven't fixed
- Brother Hatchet - the axe
- Brother Bomba - throwing a bomb
- Brother Lucky - another ex-Ultramarine, he seems to get shot a lot in games
- Sgt Beaky - beak style helmet
- Brother Olden - older style shoulder armour - bit of an experiment to see how they looked
- Brother Banner - that obvious, yes!
- Brother Thor - I'd just seen the trailer for Thor when I found a spare Terminator thunder-hammer and 2 spare Black Ork daggers in the bitz box...

Commander Endova - Thanks!
- I don't know a lot about the game side of 40k, so I tend towards 'Cool before Rules' - and since my son only plays at the local GW (he's 9) no-one really minds atm

Once again, thanks all - I'm having a blast throwing these together, especially with the bases and conversions - painting to come once we've made the final Brother.

The names are the best parts of these. I also gave one of my assault beakies dual pistols. It's a good look.

Pretty much every pose is incredibly well executed.

Wait...there's a trailer for Thor!?!

Love the names, especially Brother Bad-Knee. Glad to see the list explaining the names, though they're mostly self explanatory. Except for Brother Lucky.

Ouze - Thanks!
- Use of assault marine legs really helps make the poses more dynamic
- I really like your Blood Ravens Rhino - the LED 'combat' lighting is great!

hungryp - Thanks!
- Thor trailer - http://blastr.com/2010/12/marvel-unleashes-epic-lon.php - Enjoy!

On a side note, Brother Thor was a major reconstruction job, consisting of the following:
- AoBR legs
- tactical marine torso
- assault marine arm bits
- 2 Black Ork daggers
- newly added holstered bolt pistol (thanks Moltar)
- half a Terminator thunder hammer right arm
- 2 sections of a Terminator thunder hammer
- Chaos Terminator Lord staff left hand, and
- copper wire

All C+C welcome!

Why are Space Marines with jumppacks and double weilding pistols so extemely awsome?

Awesome conversions. I for one love the names! I especially like Captain Tylerius. I've seen many conversions with the WOC legs, but they always look awkward to me. I've been thinking about how the bit would look with Marine legs attached. You've inspired me to get WOC legs now!

'Fenris. The fortress of the Sixth Legion Astartes, called - forgive me - the Space Wolves. The fortress is known as the Fang. Am I right?'

'Yes. Except only an idiot calls it the Fang.' - Skarssen Skarssenson - Prospero Burns

CajunMan - Thanks!
In reference to the WOC legs:
- the conversion was an attempt to emulate Dakka-user Migsula's Crescent Guard captain, found here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/38633.page
- my only problem with the WOC legs is that they are all posed exactly the same and hard to convert at the hips
- I generally use Assault Marine legs for my conversions because they are straight and more dynamically posed than Tacticals

More on the names:
Captain Tylerius - my son's name is Tyler... now he logs in to his Xbox/computer games as Tylerius!
Brother Greyhand - right hand and upper spear are from a metal Grey Knight Terminator who suffered fatal wounds at the hands of a Chaos hobby saw!

Good news - the Blood Ravens are almost finished being anointed as fully fledged battle brothers...
Bad news - no pics yet, but very soon!

Take the seraphim from the WH for example. They duel weild pistol and they are jump infantry and if you have ever played DOW Soulstorm you'll see that seraphims pown everything

They look really good, but IMHO I think they'd look better with their eyes a different color. But otherwise they're very nicely done.

Ah - the eyes...

bunnygurl - Thanks!

- About the @#$%ing eyes - absolutely correct about the eyes - I had to get these done for today for my boy's birthday war and the eyes were left til last and then of course, forgotten! And of course, pointed out by everyone at the local GW!

Well as long as Tyler like them that's all that matters! You can always go back over them if you need to at a later date.

Loving this thread and the converstions. Really like the red on the banner. Look forward to seeing more.

I'm starting work on a CSM force next to fight these Blood Ravens, and plan on using a lot of WoC parts.

Work also continues on the Blood Ravens - coming soon, some heavy weapons!
