We could have made one Stug for you but that would be a bit cheap. Instead we bring you THREE variants on this popular workhouse of the German armed forces!

Sturmgeschütz! Though not as fancy, flash, or legendary as the Panther or Tiger, the StuG was quite successful in both and anti-tank and artillery roles. This mainstay of the German armored forces served on all fronts from early on through to the late war stages – it was also the most produced armored vehicle in the German arsenal. It had a low silhouette and was an easy vehicle to camouflage, which helped these tanks rack up an impressive number of destroyed enemy tanks.

The StuG III Ausf G served from 1942 onwards and was armed with a 7.5 cm StuK 40 L/48 gun. This version of the StuG was fitted with schurzen in 1943 as added protection from anti-tank rifles.

Next up, we have the StuG III Ausf G Saukopf (Pig's Head) or Topfblende. This was a later version (1943) of the tank where the box mantlet was abandoned. Instead, a more organic shaped mantlet was put into action. This new shape deflected incoming shots much more effectively.

Lastly we have self-propelled gun version of the StuG – the Sturmhaubitze 42 10.5cm SPG. These were designed to provide infantry support via a 105mm howitzer.

Looks like it would make a good looted wagon conversion. Too bad looted wagons aren't worth the time to bother converting.

Might be a bit small too. 1/48 kits would be 40kish size

Company of Heros made me love the StuG. I might actually order a model from the internet (Thats not from GW)!

I've ordered a regular STuG along with a box of British plastics, a nice belated Christmas present. I'm glad Bolt Action is reintroducing their vehicle range again after so long.

edit.

The only thing missing on these models are the MG 42 gun shields.

as over all, they look pretty nice clean lines, and remind me of larger versions of my FOW Germans. I am tempt into buying one myself, but I will have to see a size comparison before I jump at it, how I wish model companies would put up size comparisons of their competitors next to their models ><. thanks for sharing!!

@Brook:
if you would be so kind, would you mind sharing the size comparison between one of these and say a rhino chassis?

Wow, I really like this. Bolt action is making me wish there was a necromundaish game system out there for WWII.

There are plenty of 28mm WW2 skirmish rules out there, it's finding the right set of rules that's a bit hard.

Yeah, no need to wish, there are like a million of those. A couple good places to start for WWII skirmish would be Nuts! and Disposable Heroes/Coffin for Seven Brothers.

I'm sure there probably are, but unfortunately I don't know any particular ones for certain. I've only ever played one-off games of Nuts! and Disposable Heroes. I know plenty of the company-level and larger games have campaign systems, so I would guess some of the skirmish level games do too. The Miniature Page would be a good place to make further inquiries on the subject.

RO as in Red Orchestra? That's a great game, I used to play all the time before my video card went on the fritz. Mind if I ask what handle you use in game? If I can fix my computer issues, running into each other is relatively feasible, due to the (sadly) dwindling player base.
