Would you like the game to be changed to use ten sided dice instead of six sided dice.

In my opinion this would be great as it would allow a more believable difference between stats.

And allow a larger degree of variation in the rules.

I've given a lot of thought to this and I like the idea. I'm fuzzy how it would be implemented though without having the same kinds of numbers as a d6 system would.

It works great for armor saves, giving us a nice gradiant to easily see the difference between say IG flak and Karskin armor, say a 7 and a 5, respectivly.

The d10 doesn't seem to help much though on Hits and Wounding. When I tried making a chart myself, I found the percentages i was coming up with were much the same as a d6 percentage for hitting and wounding.

Stat lines would have to be reworked to better show the gradient. And that, would be a nightmare.

I would love it simply so you could see the realistic difference between the skills and power of different units.

And think of all the D10 GW could sell !

NO WAY
take into account the shapes of the d10
now look at a d6. back to the d10. look at the d6 again
Sadly your d10 takes up way more room than the d6 in your box and in your hand.
Will it happen? i would have to definitively say no. they took out the other d# in RT and i don't see it ever going back

Well, the do have a D10 system, not for the tabletop but for RPB Dark Heresy. Works good but if it where put to the tabletop, it would take too much time to resolve much unless the ENTIRE thing was reworked.

Changing to d10 would require a mass Codex editing, so I doubt that they'd do it unless they got a huge team to work on it.

I'd rather d20 or 2d6.

That said, I doubt I'll be playing much if any of 6th ed.
I'll have moved to Tomorrow's War by then (or Hammer's Slammers).

It's probably incredibly unrealistic to integrate any other dice into the current system, but it would add quite a few layers of complexity to stats and such.

I'd be for it I guess.

Most codex's would need to be redone, so I don't think this could possibly happen.

I dont actually think this will ever happen. But if it did i could see it being an improvement to the game.

Would force them to stop spouting out space marine codices for a while, considering half the codices are space marines variants.

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

I would love to see D10 40k, but it won't happen for the reasons posted above. Maybe if Andy Chambers was still around...

How many gamers actually own a D10? Normal dice are sold everywhere and for a variety of games other than wargaming so most people have a few kicking about, including new gamers, D10's however aren't used much outside of there specific games and I doubt you'll find one in anywhere but a modeling shop; and even then they're in short supply as I recall. Meh, too much work to change the whole systems to encorperate them too.=P

Many gamers DO have d10s.

Most games shops (LGS) that sell rpgs will sell them.

I've got a bucket of them. Same of d20s.

Handful of the other types (d4, d8, d12) though.

40k used to use several dice types (RT).
Other miniatures rules use die types for range/troop quality rolls.

Nice inflammatory post...nice...hope you at least realize without Marines 40k as you know and enjoy wouldn't exist.

On topic...it would require a compost overhaul of the rules to facilitate and that is just not needed imo.

Ehhh I think it would allow for a better game mechanically. However at the same time d10s are much less available (And hence more expensive) and it may overcomplicate the game making it take much too long.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

They could easily make smaller D10's where the numbers take up more of the available area of the faces, and what's better is that all of the comparisons of stats would become percentages, which are much easier to think about from a math-hammer perspective. (I hate math-hammer, but lots of people can't seem to get enough of it.)

Gah!

No, no no.
No d10 please. Every codex, every book is written using the d6 format, it's just not likely to happen, and I understand That it would allow for more realism and variation in the game, but honestly, I've tried making my own Wargames before with d10s, d20's and such, and they're just far too complex to have going with a large scale of units, and there's no way in hell that I'm going to play with less minis.
