Hello mates. As mentioned before on here (via the "March of the Treekin Thread) I will be selling my High Elves in the near future and currently am deciding between Skaven and Wood Elves as my next choice of army to build and play with. This list i have thrown together for the mighty Skaven is decked out to fit who i think are the coolest (and can make a great argument as some of the craziest Skaven) the technology crazed clan Skryre . This will be my first attempt at throwing this list together and i have tried to make it as competitive and as fitting to the Skryre theme as possible. As usual all insights, ideas, thoughts, ect. are welcome and encouraged. Thanks for reading mates!:

TOTAL ARMY: 2500 POINTS

L+H: With Ikit and 2 Level 1 Warlock Engineers that should give me plenty of both magic defense and output against a wide variety of opponents especially with tons of warp lightning being thrown about. The BSB has a 3+ armor save and with a halberd is strength 5 and a pistol for the hell of it (had 8pts. to spare). And thanks to Verminous Valor i can refuse a challenge and still get all the BSB benefits.

CORE: 120 total infantry may be small for a Skaven army however the fact that they all have wonderful warpfire throwers (seriously a fething flame thrower in fantasy! ) should help even the odds if i ever come across armies that outnumber me or even have just plain better infantry. Each unit also has a hero/character leading it which should also help in the long run as each unit can dish out its own respectful amount of punishment each turn.

SPECIAL: 12 Warplock Jezzails to target elite units such as knights, elite infantry and warmachines. Two units of 6 enable flexibility and a decent enough amount of shots where a few should hit. The 8 Globadiers with the mortar will be right behind one of my units of clanrats (the one that looks like it may have trouble most likely) and contribute to the combat as best they can. I am considering dropping the Jezzails though in favor of more of these bad boys but for now ill keep it as it is.

RARE: This explains itself for the most part. Two Doomwheels doing what they do best which is beating the ever living hell out of opponents with two Warp Lightning Cannons to back them up. I am also considering dropping the cannons for Plaugeclaw Catapaults but as stated above for the Jezzails/Globadiers argument will keep it as it is for now.

Hmmmmm a few slaves wouldn't go amiss even if you drop say 10 stormvermin you can get 35 slaves which work wonders for tying up a unit for all of you shooty bits blast 'em. After all who would miss a few slaves.

I'd drop some of the jezzails (or maybe all) just not a big fan of them, they tend not to do much with such poor BS for their point cost. Rather get a boatload of slaves so your wheels and cannons dont mind frying a few of them to get those tarpitted regiments.

I find Jezzail's to be effective cavalry killers. cavalry units tend to be small enough where even a few casualties can cause a panic test, and with S5/AP you reduce even a 1+ empire cavalry save to a 4+. Granted, poisoned wind mortars ignore armor saves entirely, but I find the scatter less reliable than the BS3/4.

My thoughts exactly, after trying out some globadiers yesterday i have to say i was not impressed with the standard globadier infantry, will give them another shot but still not to impressed. I have not tried the mortar yet but plan on testing that out as well to see how it goes for me

I tried a unit of 12 Globadiers recently, and the BS3 coupled with 8" range made them very difficult to use. Granted you avoid a lot of the To-Hit penalties that ranged attackers normally get (skirmishers + Thrown Weapons) but compared to the 36" range of Jezzails...

Also a small correction to my earlier post. Jezzails are S6, not 5, so the total ASM is -4!
