I've been trying to avoid painting faces since it seems rather hard, but well, one can't avoid forever...

I've painted a few faces so far and this is the latest. I'd be grateful for some comments and critique on how it's getting along so far and what might be improved upon. More pics can be found in my gallery or in my p&m blog. Thanks.

They look solid tabletop quality. Are you basecoat/washing/highlighting at the moment to get to this point?

Thanks! Yes, I basecoated him quite a long while back, so I no longer remember what colour I'd used. I added a wash of devlan mud around the eyes and nose, and a wash of gryphonne sepia under the check bones and around the beard, then I highlighted the nose, cheekbones and forehead with elf flesh. I also gave the lip a wash of bleach bone-scab red.

By the way, here's another face which I've just painted today. Larger resolution compared to the previous picture. Is this less pale now?

Thanks for the encouragement! After painting a few faces, it's not as hard as I first thought. The eyes though, are still a major pain to paint properly. And I'm still not succeeding yet.

@ Depraved: Thanks!

@ bullyboy76: Wow! Your minis look superb. I didn't know that they can look that good even without having the eyes painted. Great stuff.
