This is my first post. Hopefully I'll do it right.

This model is a kit bash made from an Astorath the Grim jump pack and wings, Sanguinary Guard legs, Black Templars chest, Dark Angels head and a couple odd other bits. It was assembled and painted for a local GW painting competition. I took 2nd place. First was a Skaven Warlord. Pesky Skavens... always stealing first place. lol

Any feedback is appreciated. Also... I'm working on a better photography situation.

Looks quite good. I'd like to see some of that scrollwork though! It looks wonderful!

Goregous. Nice to see a lighter green on DA for a change.

This is the best shot I can do right now... I don't have very good lighting and my camera kinda sucks.

The scroll work is pretty straightforward. I start with a base of Dheneb Stone. Then a Gryphonne Sepia Wash. Clean up anything goofy with more Dheneb. Then, using very watery blacks and reds, and a 10/0 Spotter brush, I painted on the text squiggles and icons... there are little DA logos and Red blocks at the start of new "litanies". Took awhile.

Wow that is an Awesome conversion and it is painted beautifully too, although there is still a BT symbol on the belt.

Yeah... I didn't feel like doing any major conversion work. On other models I've spent a lot of time filing off detail and then adding on new detail. Other than some small painted on detail on the scroll work and the color scheme, there are no real specific chapter logos anywhere. Right pauldron is a skull for command and left pauldron is Crux Terminatus.

like it bro i might use a similar idea for my BT if you dont mind.

nice conversion, and loving the wings! the only nagging thing is the templar cross, but other than that, COOL!

Amazing converstion work. I love the wrist mounted plasma pistol. I realy like the wings and jet pack.

I debated taking off the Templars cross. Ultimately, laziness won out! My plan is to take the Sanguinary guard box and make a similar assault squad for this guy to lead. I'll post pics when I'm done.

very nice combo of bits from different kits there. now... if only i could meet a DA player that actually uses jump packs!!

Awesome job, I was wondering how long it would take for someone to bust the BA bits on DA.

BT symbol really takes away from it though for me, its a simple fix dude, 15 seconds with a modelling knife or 30 seconds with putty would have done it. Don't quit the race 10 feet from the finish line!

I don't much mind the BT cross on the belt - sort of refers back to the Pre-Heresy Calibanite Knightly Orders (read "Descent of Angels" for those who don't know).

For me, the only negative comment I could make is that the Plasma Pistol's barrel could do with drilling out.

Other than that, excellent job. Nice use of the parts in an original way.

its not too late to do it. a quick knife skim and some filing plus the addition of one of the tiny DA specific bits on the ravenwing sprue and its ready to paint.

I may very well do this. It really wouldn't take much time at all. I could drill out the barrel while I"m at it. Maybe tomorrow

Very cool. I think it'd look more Dark Angels-y with the standard DA phallus sword, though.

The combination of Dark Angel, Blood Angel, and Templar bits flows together flawlessly, and the paintjob ties it all together even more.

Do you have any progress shots on how the scrolls were made? I would love to know as I'm planning something similar on a Belial model.

No work was done on the scrolls. They come directly from the Astorath the Grim model. There isn't a speck of green stuff on this model. It's all metal, plastic and glue!

Aside from the already mentioned Black Templars Cross, my only other hang up is that plasma pistol barrel not being drilled out. That aside, great looking model man!

Really liking this conversion! Whats your recipe for the armour?
