Hi folks,

Today, out of the blue, I painted up a Space Wolves Razorback. I converted it to be a Las-Plas (Lascannon with TL plasma). I did the conversion and painting all in one day which isn't bad for a guy with three kids.

Now, it either looks great or awful - I can't tell. It might be a bit too powder blue so to speak. I know people like their SW's darker these days. But it certainly pops, and I think an army in this scheme might really pop. Whatcha think?

I like it, but I've always been a fan of the clean look over more heavily weathered or darker schemes myself.

That's a classy job. Certainly makes the case for buying an airbrush. I'm not a fan of the powder blue, being in the dark grey SW camp myself. You do pull it off nicely though.

I like the weathering too. If I had to find something missing it would be a cool freehand, if that is within your range of ability. Again, great job!

To those inquiring if it's airbrushed: it certainly looks airbrushed to me. Also, given that he mentioned he finished that in one day, I wouldn't think handpainting those smooth-ass transitions is likely.

I agree that Space Marines should be bright and shiny, they are the beacon of mankind after all. That said, the subtle weathering effects you have used work very well. All in all, an excellent paint job.

Yea, with careful masking and skill with an airbrush, this model shouldn't take too long to do. A few passes for base, middle, and highlights, with masked sections for metal and colors, etc. A bit of weathering and some decals with a dullcote on top. Not too hard, that way.

The commendable portion is the execution, which is stellar. Good work on all portions - I think it would be impressive to see this level army-wide.

lolol. 'out of the blue'. Good one.

Great paint job. (:

I think the bright blue works with the well done battle damage. If it were clean, it might look wrong.

Good job Looks nice, I like the fact you went for lighter than normal tones. I'd certainly like to see an army done like this.

I'm still trying to comprehend this took only one day. The subtle weathering/paintchip throughout the model appears extremely time consuming.

Overall, the execution and attention to detail is outstanding. I know it would take me more than a day and I still wouldn't have this level of quality. Thanks for sharing.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Hi guys! Yep, I use an airbrush. Also the paint chipping didn't take long, as it is applied using a sponge.

Wow... I too cannot comprehend that this was done in one day. I really enjoy the brightness and simplicity of the vehicle, and the airbrushed shades are absolutely flawless. I've played around with the idea of airbrushes myself.

What kind of airbrush did you use? Is it expensive to get started airbrushing? How long have you been airbrushing for?

I use an Iwata BCS - it's probably 4-500 bucks to get started if you get a nice compressor (I use iwata sprint jet). I think I've been doing it about 1.5 years now. I've painted a few armies with it.

Shiny! Beautifully crisp, I can imagine it being reallly cold wherever that came from, exactly as it should be. The subtlety in the weathering lends it the extra detail a tank requires to avoid looking plain. Nice one.
